  1. I have: 1x English Download 1x Printed Extended English Manual I have the same problem. I know a few of them really want BS but they need to upgrade their computers and are afraid to ask the wife unit I suspect :helpsmilie:
  2. True. Fakum, I don't have any data saved for comparison. I went straight from XP to Win7 so I have no comparisons to Vista. I will say thus far BS runs perfectly smooth for me in Win7x64 at 5040x1050 on a single GTX285. I haven't messed with the affinity tool but I haven't felt like I need to. One thing that may also increase your performance is that several new video drivers have been released for Win7RC since the days of the beta. Although I'm still using 182.50 because I have to for 5040x1050.
  3. I ran the shooting range mission again today. Took out a few targets with ATGM's, had the trimmer freak out on me when starting egress but instead of panicking and crashing I kept it together and pulled out of it. Made a decent, but not great, landing without breaking anything. All this took under an hour but it felt like forever it was so intense.
  4. I agree on both counts. I don't have the benefit of being a paid, trained helo pilot so I will take as much time as I need before hopping into a full mission with any expectation of success. The fact that BS is capable of making us take such pains is testament to how fine of a product it is. :book:
  5. Me too! manual is very, very detailed. I love it.
  6. 15 hours. Half of it going over the start up process, 25% of it fighting the weapons system, 25% learning to hover, and just about none of it actually flying :)
  7. Looks great. I like how the bezels line up with the cokpit window frames and you don't even see them anymore. :pilotfly:
  8. The biggest hassle is that 5040x1050 and 4320x900 are not supported out of the box, atleast not in my case. They work as a custom resolution and therin lies the hassle. I'm also running Windows 7 which complicates matters somewhat. The last Nvidia driver set to properly recognize the custom resolutions is 182.50. To install these drivers on Win7 you have run it in Vista SP1 Compatability mode. The other drivers you have to contend with is Matrox PowerDesk. I'm running 2.05. There is a beta PowerDesk driver for the custom resolutions on nvidia 200 series cards but it casued black bars to appear on the screen in 5040x1050. The last problem and I haven't figured out how/if I can fix it yet; I have to switch my desktop to 3840x1024 prior to running BS or the user interface is invisible. BS switches to 5040x1050 once I'm passed the UI. I don't have this problem with Rise of Flight. I'm just glad my monitors support 57hz! I didn't think they did. I do have a fourth monitor but it's just a 7" touch screen for running touchbuddy. I don't know where I would put another monitor. I haven't tested FPS yet but so far it there is no noticable performance hit.
  9. Finally after many hours and days of pulling my hair out, and after about 40 drivers swaps and restarts I can run BS @ 5040x1050! It's gorgeous. I was really close to sending the th2go back.
  10. Lots of action. Really intense. Hope he makes more vids.
  11. somebody get this man a free copy of the printed manual :) or at least a black shark sticker!
  12. This would be nice.
  13. I've memorized most of the basics to be able to take off, fly (it sure isn't pretty), land, operate the weapons, and navigate. Now I have to execute all that well enough to actually complete a mission without doing something stupid and while commanding wingmen. The shooting range mission is about the extent of my abilities right now. I'm waiting for the printed manual to arrive before trying to make any more actual progress. Tired of reading about some other mode or switch or whatever that I didn't know about that I should have been using all along. I will sit down, grab a beer (or four) and commence to RTFM.
  14. If DCS is installed in the "Program Files" directory modman will not work. It has to be installed in root directory of C:
  15. Did you set the axis in the in-game control settings? Use the drop down box on that screen to select axis mapping.
  16. I usually avoid USPS like the plague when possible.
  17. That's my problem! Must have missed that somewhere in the instructions  I've also aligned the LEDs into the center, they were previously very far to the left. Tracking range and stability is much improved. Thanks Vince and bumfire...:megalol:
  18. The biggest problem is that when looking down the view spins around as if I were looking backwards/behind me. This seems to happen at any time with no extra movement by me, other than to look down. Looking up strangely does not have this problem. This happens in both the TIR software and DCS. I have rectified this problem to some degree (enough to be able to actually look around the cockpit now) by increasing the speed setting although it's now a bit too fast for me. The other problem is that the range of motion to my left is quite small compared to my right. I'm assuming this is because the track clip is attached to the left side of the headset and thus moves out of detection range quicker than to the right. If that is the case I may just use the default clip as positioned in the middle it may provide a more symetrical range of motion.
  19. Mine was also shipped today. Soon I can really learn how to fly this thing.
  20. Does anyone have a trackIR 5 profile that works well with triple screens? I'm having a hell of a time getting a profile that works well in the cockpit without the view freaking out on me. Spinning to the back, jumping around) Did a search and couldn't find anything that was specific for TIR5 and 3 screens so I'm posting this here. Thank you.
  21. Me too. Will be interesting to see the pros and cons of each new HOTAS.
