  1. Thank you, that was totally it. I was trying to engage a slow moving cargo plane, and was well underspeed.
  2. I'm assuming it's the AoA anyway. I'm flying the attack version (the one with an onboard cannon) and I'm can't get the gun to fire. I'm assuming it's because the yellow AoA indicator is constantly on. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can't get it to shut off. I'm tried flying level, up, down, sideways, nothing gets it to turn off, other than occasionally it'll shut off seemingly at random. That random time period is rarely when I'm behind a plane that is shooting out flared to disrupt my missiles, so I keep having to force myself to land rather than ram it while continuously clicking the trigger. So, any ideas?
  3. Figured I'd just leave this here: It's a lot of me talking but the engine is louder. The only thing I really heard from myself was "this would be scary in real life". Anyway you only get your first attempt to start and fly an aircraft once, and this is the only one I succeeded at. Old vid, hope no one was looking to this to learn how to fly the damn thing. Does go to show what a bunch of flight simulator experience can do though! [ame] [/ame]
  4. I don't know for certain but much like the BFV I'd assume separate magazines. I'd also assume that the HE mag is set to fire with an elevated barrel due to the weight difference between the different rounds.
  5. Unfortunately I'm not help but I am going through this too. I bought Blackshark years ago from Direct2Drive (now owned by Gamefly) and the serial number doesn't seem to work with Steam. The Blackshark 2 upgrade doesn't want to work either (of course that whole ordeal was a nightmare to begin with). If I have to I'll just wait for another sale and pickup Blackshark 2 for 75% off (my cat eats cords so my flight gear unfortunately lives in a closet most of the time thus no rush) but if there is a quicker solution I'd love to hear it!
  6. Ah, see this is what happens when you push strange buttons lol. Got back in the thing, man what a great sim.
  7. OK, just found the answer a little bit further down the page. Delete this or leave it so next time someone searches this will pop up. Anyway I guess the answer is to delete saved files. Following thread has the info. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=70966
  8. If go through the motions about the time you're lined up on the runway and ready to take off, that switch is ready to go. What can I say, every mission is THAT important that I cannot wait... or be bothered to ask for clearance.
  9. Hey all, finally got rid of the beta and into release! If this were any other company I'd add an obligatory knock about how now that it's out of beta I can't get into the game but I have a lot of respect for ED. Anyway when I try to assign, or even clear an axis on the axis assignment list and then hit "ok", I get a big LUA error and things go nowhere. I can post a screen shot if that helps but if anyone knows of a quick fix or if I'm doing something stupid please let me know. With my computer upgraded and release finally on my system I can't wait to get up there and drop some ordinance!
  10. Rockets are fired by the weapon release button which fires all weapons other than the gun. To select weapons use your left MFD. Can't recall which button it is but just keep pushing buttons on the bottom until the weapons management screen comes up. Click the button next to the weapon you want to select and have fun. Remember to make sure you're on the correct weapon mode before you deploy weapons. It's one of the joystick buttons. You still need to go through the manual though. Look at the buttons on the stick and throttle and map as many as you can. You need the DMS and TMS hats (whatever they're called) for certain. You'll also want to map the mouse on the throttle because you're going to use that a lot with your map system and targeting pod. I think it's the 'master switch' or something like that, you want that too. Obviously you want weapon release and 'fire cannon' as well. The first stage of the trigger stabilizes the plane but I don't think you need that. Helps a ton though. Anyway read and work on one weapon system at a time. You'll get this plane down before you know it.
  11. My Fing ID is easy to remember. All I have to do is think "gee, what's my f***ing ID..."
  12. cool ty. Sorry I didn't even notice the patches part lol.
  13. FFXIV sucked me in and I haven't been flying lately. Is there a patch or is it full download only for the upgrade. I also assume something has been done about the limited registrations, right? I heard Mavericks are in action so I can't wait to play with the JTAC and blow up some sh, well you know the rest.
  14. Yep no going back. Once you use the TIR you'll feel like an idiot every time you try to play without one because you'll be moving your head around and wondering why the screen doesn't move with you.
  15. If your steer points are need the enemy you can use china hat aft long to put have your targeting pod face the steer point. If your point is in the air then the pod will target air (so steer point is 1000m up, the target pod will look 1000m up exactly where the steer point is) so you may have to lower your aim until you hit ground. From there just zoom in/out and look about. Put the point on your 2 or 3 oclock to keep from flying over it. Use the boat switch too. Boat switch forwards/aft is white/black hot IR. Not the best resolution but it does work. Of course you could take the balls the the wall approach and fly over the enemy looking for gunfire. Just figure out in general where the bullets are coming from, fly away, use china hat short to boresight the TGP (put it in front of your plane) then when you're a ways out fly towards where you took fire from, slew the pod a bit to get it to stay in that area and start scanning for targets. If you want good training with the JTAC, Wags made a video and put it on youtube that goes through the procedure. You can then play that same mission in A10c. It's called target range or shooting gallery, something like that. Anyways big thing is to alway take a targeting pod with you because otherwise you're going to be relying on your eyes and if you're lucky someone else's eyes (JTAC or if you have a buddy another A-10c).
  16. Cool. Just wanted to make sure im not just doing it wrong
  17. So im not clear on this. Are mavericks currently not 100% or am I just doing it wrong? Im following the steps here and RTFM (past tense lol) but its still 2 or 3 passes before I get a lock. It sounded like the seeker is supposed to automatically scan and lock when you slew. This doesn't always happen and the short up doesn't do much. It seems like when you find a target with the pod and SPI it the mav should lock when it sees the target or require a short up/slew. I may be way off though but im pretty sure im following SOP here.
  18. I'm still training on this stuff myself. I was able to get some sort of LGB to fall in one of the modes, can't remember what bomb but it's the one with the two lines and the count down. Guess it's back to reading that HUD chapter again lol
  19. Piracy is going to happen. Once you have someone with a private computer that knows what they're doing there's nothing you can do to stop them. Hopefully they'll buy the game though. I know I've bought many games I pirated, well all the ones I liked at least.
  20. So far this has been pretty rough. I keep managing to somehow lock my FLIR into looking at whatever flight point I pick and firing the mavericks is still pretty painful, especially with the JTAC taking his time on coms. I have to hit the speed brakes just to slow down for that guy lol. Maybe I'm doing it wrong though, seems like he has a short range for his radio, which I mean hey, it's the Army. Actually I guess they're Airforce, so there's no excuse for bad radios!
  21. I found one that's two pages, probably the same one you're looking at. If you just go through the start up a few times you won't need a list. This things not anywhere near as bad as the Black Shark when it comes to start up, that or I'm really doing it wrong but it flys every time I start it and don't crash while taxiing (2 times so far, need to be patient lol).
  22. You decide that since you're flying in Nevada, and Area 51 is in Nevada, you should search for UFOs
  23. OK cool. Sounds like I was skipping some serious communications steps. I'll have to get back up there and try it out again. I've still got to figure out these controls better as well. Sometimes I do stuff with the China Hat and nothing happens even though the instrument is selected. Guess that's more RTFM though. Thanks for the help, can't wait to pop that tank again! This time though I'll have to be less frantic with that Steer Point button. I was flipping through points and moved my head, accidentally killed the left engine with that fire pull bar lol.
  24. OK so if I'm getting this correct I'll call the JTAC up to say I'm available. JTAC sends me a 9 line via radio. I then send him a message back and he tells me what ordinance to use. Do I call him back again to get the digital 9 line? BTW is there a forum post or something I should be looking for to get this information? I just didn't notice anything and I'm trying to be good about reading the stickies before asking too many questions.
