  1. I remember driving somewhere back in the 80s with a friend just after I got Falcon 2 (or was it Falcon 1.5?), which might have been one of the first games to have some kind of campaign that made you feel like you were fighting a war rather than just flying off repeatedly to kill the same targets (as in Falcon 1). And during that drive we talked about how in the future he might be flying a F-16 covering me while I was in my Apache and having another friend coming in behind in another copter landing troops. And we covered all the possibilities during that drive, in-flight refueling for truly long missions and then other friends trying to attack us. Well, it has pretty much all come true or very close to it. Having all the tools here for us now is just great ... just got to remember all the keys and trying to juggle a full-time job with my hobby can be difficult though.
  2. While we're at it, do you think we could have a mod for a shoe phone? So when we bail out and run around with our AK-47 and tactical mini-nuke we could also call in airstrikes :pilotfly:.
  3. Maybe you should set up a mission that has you and a wingman attack several static targets. Order the wingman to attack the targets. Just sit back and watch him go to work, you should get some tips on how the pros do it.
  4. I'm still finding it tough Washer, just like you. But for a variety of reasons I keep at it e.g. the graphics, attention to detail, watching the battlefield from an aerial perspective is just awesome and the list goes on. But in the beginning I wanted to learn everything, from startup to flying at at treetop level back to base and shutdown. But for a guy like me it was unreasonable. Learning the startup procedure, doing everything in correct order drives me nuts!! I'm not the personality :( I realised this and decided to take it easy, do what is really fun in the game. I use easy startup. I can't lockup targets really quick (wingmen make it look so easy) so I order my wingmen to kill a lot of stuff and I mop up the rest. And I enjoy doing it this way, probably make the purists mad, but I enjoy it and that is what is important at the end of the day. Actually I'm looking forward to the Apache add-on when it arrives, I think the cockpit workload will be reduced considerably .... hehe.
  5. It's brown because it goes with my newly made brown pants ... (in my best Maxwell Smart voice), "Missed those powerlines by that much".
  6. To be honest, I think the greater majority of people here on these forums won't care very much how much it costs. As soon as it is released they'll just go out and buy it.
  7. Just wondering how many ammo reloads AI controlled vehicles get. Is it accurately modelled for each vehicle type or is it unlimited shots?
  8. I think I'd be asking for too much, but I'd really like to see something incredibly rare ... the Herclues gunship. I wouldn't expect it to be player flyable, but as a AI controlled craft, I think it would be absolutely awesome. As the BS is often used for special forces, it would be great to see something that the US used for its special forces as well. I think it would provide that something truly spectacular to the game ... seeing one of these at night plastering a land target with it full complement of weapons.
  9. The only place I could imagine using bombs is when I had complete air-superiority and the enemy had a complete lack of SAMs and AAA. But I "guess" that if I had nothing else to put under my wings I would use them but with great hesitation.
  10. It was pretty exciting to watch. Massive amounts of tracer round flying both ways, big explosions ... poor Germans :music_whistling:. Funny thing is (at least I thought it was) is that tanks even use their machine-guns in these battles (later the same T-55s encountered some Abramses), not like they'd be effective.
  11. Did a search on the forums but couldn't find anything. So I have a very, very trivial question to ask ... After looking at the after combat report that the game generates after each mission I noticed that my T55s had destroyed some Marders with 105mm guns. I always thought the T55s had a 100mm gun. I just checked Wiki and it seems that the only T55s ever to have a 105 were some that were modified by the USA for the Egyptian army. Could anyone shine some light on this question please?
  12. The Amiga is going back almost 20 years isn't it? I had one as well, it was just incredible. I played Gunship and the original Falcon 1 on it for I couldn't count how many hours. The graphics for Falcon 1 and Falcon 2 were amazing for the time, they were so good. Had my first train strafing run on Falcon 2, a very memorable experience even to this day. I saw Falcon 1 on a PC that my brother had and I wondered how people could fly the thing it looked just so horrible. I saw Falcon 3 on a PC and thought that looked horrible too, but as I had moved to a PC I bought it anyway and was amazed at the gameplay. Back on topic. I'm looking forward to the Apache xpack for this game. I love this game, really do but for a newb like me the cockpit workload can be over the top at times plus I like the massive Hellfire battery it can carry. Probably by the time the Apache comes I might have memorised every key and command ... fingers crossed.
  13. I always thought that red was the enemy and blue was friendly. So when I went up on my first mission (I'm quite the noob still) I realised that thought wasn't true.
  14. I set up an earlier mission today against two unarmed trucks. One I used bore sight (hope I got the right terminology) and destroyed the truck from 100 metres. The other I locked on with the shkval and destroyed from 500 metres. So it would seem, that whatever is written in the manual doesn't apply to the game in any case.
