  1. Okay thanks for all your replies, I always put my ext lights on before I start moving, I didn't realize it's actually looking for the pressing of the binding press then the actual lighting state.
Yeah most people do. When you're in tension and spooled up, just cycle your lights and off you go.

  2. Ah yeah good point! It could be gear activated rather than flaps. Didn't think of that, since the gear is down before the flaps come out, and the procedure in the break is gear, flaps, dlc.

  3. i was wondering when real tomcatters were using the DLC DIRECT LIFT CONTROL .......I MEAN, ONLY DURING APPROACH AND LANDING TO INCREASE OR DECREASE LIFT/INDUCED DRAG? ( excuse for the capital letteres.....)
It's only active when the flaps are down, flaps are only down when you're landing or taking off from the carrier, (land take off is no flaps or maneuver flaps) so DLC is only used when landing.

  4. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong here, but when I get the command to run up the engines and I give the salute nothing happens? If I go back into my mission and set the time for day light hours everything is fine... This is from a hotstart from parking... Anybody else having issues with this?
Shooters obviously can't see you salute at night, so you cycle your external lights off and on.

  5. Our current DCS thrust values for the Mk47 motor is 13595 N for 27 seconds with a propellant mass of 163 kgs. The Mk60 motor has a thrust of 17793 N for 20.6 seconds with the same propellant mass.
Then in theory the mk47 is the better motor to have. Their total output is a 1000 N apart, 367,xxx vs 366,xxx but the mk60 starts decelerating 6.4 seconds earlier.

  6. Funny that this thread popped up. The other day I had a runway landing, and it was so smooth, on speed and without a flare, that when the weight came on wheels and the DLC deactivated, she took off again so used to keeping the power on, on deck that I never cut the throttles on a land runway

  7. The missile isn't the issue, it's the psychic AI that goes defensive before the missile even goes active. The more modern the plane you're shooting at, the higher probability of a miss. I can go 4 for 4 against gen 3 and early gen 4 aircraft all day long, but as soon as you go up against more modern aircraft the PK goes down dramatically.

  8. How did the mission play out for you up until that point?
Both Wavehopper and me seem to run into the wrong trigger right from the beginning of the CAP.  Despite flying the planned route right behind the other Tomcat flights.
I took off last and cruised about 8-ish miles behind the other Tomcats. I saw them peel off to their respective CAP stations, then got the dialogue concerning our CAP procedures. Very shortly after I turned towards SP 3 I got the message about those MiG-29's, same as Wavehopper.
Never saw the 29's. I turned back to WP2 and went on with my CAP. All I saw were MiG-21's later on. When we transitioned to the Southern CAP we were there forever until suddenly Jester called out more splashed 29's that were never there, then we got the call to rendezvous with the tanker, but he decided to go home already.

  9. So I just had a go at this mission. I got moved to CAP station south, went 10 or so passed between the new WPT2 and WPT3, then I got "final MiG splashed" and got vectored to tanker. But it seemed like the tanker was already on its way back to Incirlik because I was barely closing in on him at all. Steered to home plate instead and when passing overhead the base, Jester told me to switch air source and extend the probe. I ignored this and landed normally on the base. The tanker was already there in it's spot. I got mission failed since something must have gotten borked.
Yep, me too. Exactly the same. He says to fly to WP1 so I'm guessing we had to go there from Incirlk after overflying the tanker, then we would've been told to land, etc.

  10. Definitely not a fan of the worn-out cockpit switches & buttons! Would much rather they were clean, clear and easy to read, if you want to have a download available with worn out controls that's fine just don't think it should be sold like that.
It's ok Martha, you'll be able to deactivate it soon.
