Best results I'm getting are launching between 35,000 and 40,000 feet. Doing between Mach 1 and Mach 1.2. Between 10 and 15 degrees nose up. Between 60 and 80 nm distance.

Ah my bad! I thought they came from the same developer.
Minor correction. Syria is made by Ugra, and Sinai by OnReTech. ED has also stated we cannot seamlessly fly between maps with the current technology.
I wish we could though.

Personally I love the Syria Map, and I'm excited for Sinai since it's the same developer.
A feature I'd like to see is if you could fly from one map into the other seamlessly.
Marianas proved they need to do A LOT of work on forested maps. So a Vietnam map might be a while off. I mean you can drop a mk84 on a tank, but if there's a tree in the way, nothing.

I have random failures on for added fun, and the other day I had an INS computer failure, which obviously is Jester's department. But he said nothing, or tried to work the problem.
Is there a menu option to tell him to work the problem? Like how a real RIO might reset a circuit breaker, or do an in flight alignment?
If there's not, can we get one?

Yeah definitely a shame. The decks of the Carriers should be filled with beautiful Tomcats, and not ugly 35's.Range numbers need to be paired with firing conditions though, or they are hard to use. What we do know right now is that the F-15C with AMRAAM holds the record for the longest air to air kill according to the USAF:
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/40184/f-15-eagle-scores-longest-known-air-to-air-missile-shot-during-u-s-air-force-test
Also while the Super Tomcat and Strike Eagle have similar radar technology, they don't use exactly the same unit. The Tomcat used the 71, the Strike Eagle the 70. Sadly both the Tomcat and the Eagle never reached their full potential in any case with the wind down of the Cold War, budget cuts, and newer planes incoming. I'd have loved to see F-14D's in extended service along with F-15F's (F-15C with all the improvements gained with the E, and refocused for air to air).
The AMRAAM used in that test was a D model though, which we don't have.

Just did a quick Google, the Phoenix had an operational range of 100nm. The AMRAAM C 57nm. Even the new D has an operational range of 87nm. So at equal altitude, speed, etc. The Tomcat has a huge advantage of nearly double the range.
That's IRL of course. How well the module will do, we'll have to wait and see.
The big advantage in the SE will be situational awareness.
An F-14D vs the F-15E would draw that level again since the D has link16 and the same radar.

Yeah, no
The 16 has the same AMRAAM missiles, and even at altitude and speed it still has to wait after it locks a bandit before it can launch.
By the time an SE launches, a Tomcat's Phoenix has already halfway flown towards it.
IRL when Tomcats and SE's practiced BVR against each other, the Tomcats were only allowed to use Sparrows, because with Phoenix's, the SE's couldn't win.

I'm not on Steam either, so it doesn't affect me. But I just feel it should be the same for everyone. Either charge everyone the same, or don't charge anyone anything until EA.Agree that this should have been clear from the get go.
I'm on standalone and I won't get miles. That's disappointing, but not the end of the world. But if they introduce Miles at a later point, that will be very bad.

Then they should have been smarter about it. It's not like this is their first ever module.I kind of agree with you, but let's say the module was USD 100. With a 30% it's 70. Steam takes 30%, which brings it down to USD 49, and AFAIK, ED takes an additional 30%, which leaves USD 34 for Razbam.
Cheers!

They could've said (weeks ago),
"we planned to do a 30% discount across the board, but because of (the situation at) Steam, we'd lose too much revenue. We also don't want to be unfair to the Steam users, and charge more to them, so we are setting the discount to 20% across the board."
Fairness, transparency, and understanding in one little paragraph.

It has a long range radar, but it's still limited to it's missiles range. So at BVR it's at a disadvantage to say a Tomcat, that can fire a Phoenix long before the SE can fire an AMRAAM. Same with any other longer range missile capable aircraft. Especially ones that are more maneuverable. The SE is a bomb truck that can self escort, but don't expect it to be a PVP king. It can't reach Tomcats at range, and it can't out maneuver Tomcats, 16's, 18's, Su-27, MiG-29 etc in ACM. It's not a 15C.

HereDo you have a source for that? Never knew that developers could "not participate" at all in the miles program.

Address, pay attention to, take care of, deal with, that's what that means. What do you mean by 'adress" ? Turn down your settings more and more after each update until you're looking at 3 pixels?
Yes i guess that's an option.
Altough i'm not sure that you're up to date, i don't want to have this discussion in this topic so check your DM
Yes maybe my first comment does not belong here in the first place, i just want ED to know that they're losing revenue. (unless i'm the only one of course that stopped playing and buying modules of course

I don't know the split. Do you? It obviously isn't exactly half. But yeah, I'm the delusional one for wanting everyone being treated equallyIf you think steam is half the customer base then you are delusional.

Charging half your customers 10% more than the other half is good business sense?Because steam takes 30% so DCS partners are already getting substantially less that through the ED store.
So not greed, just good business sense. If it was greed then steam prices would be at least 30% higher.
That's new.

It's not about $8 It's about principle. Why should the Steam players have to pay more than the stand-alone players?Yes, just out of courtesy RAZBAM should have announced that pre-order would not include Steam. I get that.
But on the other hand, people are getting hysterical and yelling “GREED!” over $8.
There's only one reason, because RAZBAM wouldn't get enough money from their Steam sales. There's a word for that.
Greed.

Either your hardware is too old, or your settings too high. VR runs fine if you address either of these things. Not buying **** untill DCS runs acceptably in vr
Even though this module would normally be instabuy for me under normal circumstances.

Until the module gets releasedPromo vid is really cool thanks!
I might be blind but how long is the Pre-order running for?

I guess you can't tell the difference between 20% and 30%. It's not even about that, for me. It's principle. AFAIK every other module has always been able to be pre-ordered on Steam and Stand-alone. And the ONLY reason this one isn't, is greed. I don't even use Steam. But I'm skipping this module on principle now.@elewarr
Look I and everyone involved appreciate your support... but thanks for taking my words and twisting them so it sounds like I've also taken something from you. Even by replying to a comment I made to someone ELSE as if I had made it to you.
Oh and for making my point while you're at it. I do appreciate that for sure.
And... I'll stand by my statement 1000%. Potato, Potahto sir. You can't "pre-order" for a % discount, but you will be able to purchase at pre-release (when everyone else gets it presumably...) for similar or same % discount? Uhm... Where EXACTLY is something to bitch about there?
I haven't taken anything from you. Neither has RazBam. I'd bet dimes to dollars that they'll pop in here at some point and let you all know they're sorry for the mixup and all that. Haven't they already said they will have a 20% discount (same as the pre-order???) when they do the Steam release/pre-release/pre-order/let you buy it right about the same time it's released for everyone else thing???
So... What ARE people ACTUALLY bitching about? Just that the Steam users have to wait a while before they can get the same deal as the rest of us and get the aircraft at the same time too most likely??? WUT?
Wait WUT??
Yup. Ridiculous.
Completely.
@razbam or @NineLine or @whoever... Feel free to delete my posts if you like (not that you need my approval :)) but HOLY cow...
Kids these days :). I get it... "people react to these things in their own way" and all that but I get sick and tired of all the ME ME ME in the world these days.
Calm the eff down you little...
OK I'm done

Yup. Service quality. You said it. Where's that service quality for Steam users and people that want to use and accrue ED miles?
what a petty comment … and customer satisfaction has to do with product and service quality, not giving a price discount. have you seen many dcs developers becoming millonaires? Do you work for free on real life? .. software development needs to be funded, no one will work for you for free .. if that’s being greedy then you have very unreasonable expectations … perhaps you would be better served by playing with free Android flight sims.

Greed before (Steam) customer satisfaction.

Stuff like this makes me think I'm right on the money, although it will never be admitted. They want to maximize their income, which the F-4 would definitely diminish if released simultaneously.
Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk -
So greed over customer satisfaction then.

Yeah I alluded to that earlier on in the thread. Heatblur has said they don't care if the modules release simultaneously, but RAZBAM hasn't. They could very well be wanting ED to delay the Phantom's release.@NotBonk Relax man. It's a game, because people play it for entertainment purposes. A simulator game. "Simulation" is a subgenre in videogames. Anyway... I do think the SE release will have some sort of impact on the F-4, but my main question is, will the SE preorder "lock out" the release of the F-4 until SE is released. (+ 1 month minimum separation) I hope not, but we'll see. I haven't decided yet what plane I'm going to buy but I think it will be the most finished one with the least amount of bugs and "soon-later-promises".
I have no proof of that, but I wouldn't be surprised.
However, if that is the case, I'd be pissed. I have no interest in the Strike Eagle, so delaying the Phantom for that sole reason would "punish" me and people like me, who have no intention of buying the Strike Eagle. Again, I have no proof of that.
If the Phantom is ready, I'd like to see it released. Regardless of timing of other modules. If it's not ready, it's not ready. But since a 2022 release was targeted, it can't be that far off.
