  1. I think the most valid reason is that even up to the mid-nineties a lot of export countries still used the S-5 with the Mi-17 (Mi-8MT) and variants - My question though is, when will the MTV2 be able to carry 30 troops when it can only carry 24 in the ME? Part of the selling point of the MTV2 was the bump from 24 to 30 troop carrying capacity.

    F5?

I'm building a campaign for the F-5E. I'm basing it on the book 7 Days in May (no it's not going to word for word copy the book, but the theme is the same, and involves some twists and turns based around the plot of the book). I'm going to try to include voice acting and decent scripting and unique missions etc. :)
  3. Huh, neat, for the MK-82SE I would have figured it would have been mechanical because it wouldn't be very complex to setup mechanically. Learn something new every day.
  4. I've experienced the same as a matter of fact, but I read somewhere that BST are aware of it and working on a fix.
  5. I agree. The F-5E-3 feels very good and is a fresh counterpart to the MiG-21Bis.
  6. In my limited testing 150 mils at 1,500 ft 400knots level with Mk-82s is fairly accurate. Oh and .14 ripple. As far as the Skoshi Tiger accuracy claim goes, it was noted as accurate because it is accurate. Setting up decent dive profiles isn't hard, and its in the regime the fighter likes to ride in as far as handling at low altitude. 5,000 ft. profile with a roll in of 350-360/release at 390 knots with a dive angle of 20° dropping at 1,500ft is crazy accurate with the sight set at 80 mils. 6,000ft rolling in at 370 knots. Release at 400 knots 2,000ft 30° dive angle is another one I found to be useful when AAA is present. Also remember to treat this aircraft as a one pass haul ass type. Drop Mk-82s in pairs at the least. I usually dump everything. Using a lower release ripple will give little spread, while a higher release ripple will give a nice amount of spread to share damage with ground targets.
  7. I've gotten a few sneak up kills, but otherwise you're better off leaving the missiles at home when fighting humans. I've only gotten a single kill with any of them and it was a B model at that.
  8. Yes I guess I should have mentioned that, he was transmitting contacts, actions (Fox-2), and command replies.
  9. I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this, but it seems the UHF ADF direction finding doesn't work. When tuned to air or ground frequencies, it doesn't matter. Mode set to ADF, channel source is set to Preset 1 with AI wingman at 305MHz occupying Preset 1 in ME. Nav Mode set to DF. Nothing on the HSI and no Morse code heard (I don't know for certain if you receive Morse code when navigating to a UHF source, but you do for TACAN and I know that works). The full manual didn't provide a wealth of knowledge beyond those requirements unfortunately, so I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if it is indeed bugged. In which case I would love to see this fixed as this adds a unique depth to my enjoyment of the F-5E. Edit: Screenshot included :)
  10. This would be wonderful to have BST. As of now I just have a bunch of sticky notes on my monitor detailing release parameters and I quite dislike a cluttered workspace :p
  11. I should report I resolved it as well. Had to set the Uncage in SST, and set weapons release in DCS. Very strange but it seems to have worked well enough.
  12. I am experiencing this as well with an X-52Pro, so I don't think it's due to CH scripting. Both with and without using the SST software I have this issue. It would be nice if the uncage button could be set as a toggle (not as realistic, but neither is not being able to launch b/c I'm holding down another button).
  13. You are correct. The F-5E's only real strength is its maneuverability. When the F-14 drops I can only imagine the amount of people that are going to set the wings to min-sweep and try to yank and bank with F-5s. Now a truly good F-14 pilot won't let you get that close, or they'll boom and zoom all day long. We'll have to wait and see for what LNS delivers, but I am just going to love the number of F-5s that are going to try to follow F-14s in the vertical, only to run out of steam and get blasted on their way back down. :D:joystick:
  14. Experiencing the same.
  15. Damn, Screaming Eagles is one of my favorite songs, along with Killing Ground. So yeah, put "Sabaton" on the minimum requirements page. (Recommended could also work) :D
  16. So am I the only one going to be blaring Sabaton and flying low and fast dropping warheads on foreheads for the first week? Cause I feel like with this module that should be a minimum requirement.
  17. I will use it like a MiG-21 with better avionics and better SA.
  18. This is pretty much spot on, if you can't drop the cash on an x52 you can always pick up a Logitech 3d pro. They're good for the money and won't be a huge investment. As far as picking the F-15C or Su-27S, I'd say wait for a sale for fc3 as it includes both of them, as well as the Su-33, Su-25A, A-10A, and three variants of the MiG-29 (A,S, and G models). It's worth the standard price but if you can't afford it for whatever reason sales happen pretty frequently. Welcome to our little community btw. Always good to have newcomers.
  19. I too enjoy trolling my source of income. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  22. So would you say it's not so much the bomb but instead the platform? I can see how a higher release velocity could result in a tighter dispersion. Something I'm wondering, is the release pattern truly dependant on game engine physics entirely or could there be a type of scripting in play? I assume not, but is a possible point of speculation. I'll have to do more research once I return home from my business trip to fully test the bombs. Sent from my ALCATEL A845L using Tapatalk
  23. Yeah, you'll need a dedicated GPU and your CPU isn't top of the line either. Try and get the best GPU for your budget and I'll be willing to bet you'll see your issue go away. Sent from my ALCATEL A845L using Tapatalk
  24. So we all know and love the Mk-82 LDGP bomb, and love seeing a good pattern effect on our targets after rippling a pair off onto a convoy or onto a bunker, but what about the Air version? Is there any way to get these to pattern consistently? I've had releases from 500ft that went all over the place and releases that were bang on when dropped from 2k ft. I can understand some inaccuracy inherent from them being unguided, and from the drag of the ballute, but their inconsistency is rather perplexing and is compounded by the lackluster damage model. I'm positive that their lack of effectiveness is not a plausible analogue to their real world counterpart and wonder both if there is a method I am unaware of to increase their effectiveness or if they are in a position that requires attention from ED. If so what ideas or thoughts do you guys have? Sent from my ALCATEL A845L using Tapatalk
