  1. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the SA-3 was a mod from beczl "back in the day". With that in mind, I wouldn't mind the third party developers to also take some of the reigns and pump out some of these units for their map-packs that are free. I feel like not being able to have certain AI units because of a paywall could create issues with mission designers; otherwise I'd say have them included with the pay-for modules as a design choice.   2. What would ED's response be to the inquiry of adding in older generation SAM systems into DCS World? With the amount of legacy aircraft coming out, I feel it would be prudent to add in legacy SAM systems (as well as older AAA and AA systems (KS-19 immediately comes to mind for this one)). Some examples of these are of course the legendary SA-2, the rather strange looking SA-4, and the bane of NORAD known as the SA-5. Other NATO systems could include the Nike Ajax and Nike Hercules, as well as the British Thunderbird and Bloodhound systems. Would also be a change of pace to have to deal with the British Javelin or Blowpipe. What do you guys think? :)
  3. Update again: For some unknown reason DCS 1.5.3 stable is working 100% fine. I have no idea why, or how, but I haven't had an issue in 24 hours. Thanks? I guess? lol
  4. As the title says once the mission loads and I'm "in" the aircraft the entire screen is black. I can move either the mouse or my head (track ir) and the screen flickers for a bit and I see nothing but sky and water. No terrain. No 3d model. Nothing but bare sky and infinite sea. I've updated to the latest version of the C++ Visual suite. My graphics drivers are at the latest WHQL version (15.30.1025-151117a-296575C). I don't have crash logs related to the event. (I am having a crash upon exiting the game and an occasional loading screen hang up but I've just learned to deal with that since there hasn't been a concrete fix for the issue for me since the 1.5 beta released) My specs are in sig.

  9. The ONLY thing I can think of that would made it better would be a dynamic campaign. After having it in the simulator that shall not be named it's REALLY hard to not want it. But otherwise I agree with your statement entirely. DCS is the pinnacle of combat flight simulators. GG ED. GG

  12. Nope no modifications to anything. I usually will dip in frame rates from 130-140ish to 100-90ish when releasing a full load of 160 S-8s.
  13. No not really, high round count gun runs with the A-10C dip my frames a bit, but just the 10 S-13s don't have any problems.
  14. Maintain energy, since the F-86 turns tighter, high yo-yo around him and splash him when he climbs, use your airbrake and deny him scissoring you. Make sure you're slipping the aircraft properly with rudder, dial in a distance (I use 400-500m) on the gunsight, set the gunsight to 11m wingspan, get him lined up and let off a few 23mm rounds. The MiG-15 is pretty easy to fly IMHO, without having to worry about physically yank the stick you can do all kinds of stuff with it. It's a bit more of a challenge now, but still relatively easy to splash AI all day if you fly correctly. I'm not an actual pilot nor have I (obviously) flown either planes IRL to have an opinion, but they both "feel" just about right.

Station 1:R-60s Station 2:S-13s Station 3:Kh-25MPU Station 4:Vikhr Station 5:Fuel Station 6:ELINT Station 7:Fuel Station 8:Vikhr Station 9:Kh-25MPU Station 10:S-13s Station 11:R-60Ms I don't use ECM because it's a magnet for Opfor CAP and if radar SAMs do spike me I'd like to know as far away as possible to either avoid them or smash them with Kh-25MPUs. I have great success with the S-13s for general purpose runs and I'll generally only do one rocket run anyways so the amount I get is just fine for my purposes. I guess you could swap the MPUs for fuel and replace the inner wing fuel with Kh-58s but their weight is just too much for the level of threats you'll see in general CAS. You could also do the same for Kh-29Ts but they can't track moving targets and the laser version is too heavy of a weapon to be justified using without its F&F capabilities. If I'm doing a pure SEAD mission then I'll take Kh-58s, but otherwise they're not justified in most cases.
  16. They don't. Those missiles more than likely exceeded gimbals or exceeded their G limit to the target. I've had situations where I'm fired nose on while dumping flares and cranking hard only to be smacked with an R-60M many more times than I've defeated them. I've done similar testing to Scags (but with the A.I.) and I've come to the same conclusion. Flares and chaff have no functional use as of the current 1.5 beta.

  19. Aim for the rear/top of the vehicles. To simply put it the A and T frog's cannon aren't effective against most MBTs (Leo 2, M1s, T-80, T-90). I have seen them work alright against Leo 1s, M60s, and T-55s but you're much better off using rockets/laser guided missiles/iron bombs on them. If those aren't an option then RTB and re-arm. Until damage modeling can be improved to include mobility (track, drive wheels) kills and mission (gun, optics) kills you're much better off saving the gun for lighter vehicles like trucks/IFVs/APCs.

  21. Thanks, I figured something was up. I understand that 1-2 bundles won't defeat more modernish IR missiles (R-60M, R-73A, AIM-9P/M). However an entire flare magazine for 1? Seems a bit off. Thanks again GG. :)
  22. AFAIK this isn't a bug but a feature. The Su-25A's laser designator drifts due to aircraft movement in the real deal. Just try to adjust to it. Proper trim helps a lot when doing attacks. Plus setting up a proper attack will do wonders anyways. Remember to trim when you release a weapon as well. It will become second nature I promise.
  23. Lockon 1.02 for me at about the same time Ace Combat was coming out for the PS2. Spent three summers to get both a PS2 and a PC to "run" LOMAC and it's been downhill from there lol :joystick:
