  1. I checked it out after seeing it mentioned previously. Agree that it seems reversed.
  2. I think the current controls are ok. I use VR and it's a lot easier to just hold a mouse button rather than trying to keep your head still while using the scroll wheel. Anyone know why they're not rotary encoders in the real thing?
  3. The Hornet doesn't actually have the physical link. Neither does the Warthog, it's only there on the Thrustmaster throttle for simulating single-engined aircraft.
  4. I bought the shapeways detent. Bit pricey but I'm really pleased with it. Adjusted throttle response in my target profile though, that's always felt more robust than doing it in the DCS options.
  5. I don't think it's necessary for ED to bother with modelling the aerodynamic effects of the aircraft on the basket. It's the lack of physical interaction which is jarring when everything else is so high fidelity.
  6. Got my order in. Cheers!
  7. Specific carrier comms aren't implemented yet. Not sure what the plan is for them.
  8. There are so many ways to respond to this post it's difficult to choose which one. I'll settle for: LOL
  9. I thought this should be power OFF/ON? As you roll level you gain lift, so reduce throttle to prevent an increase in altitude and then add power to remain on glideslope.
  10. I'm pretty sure this was the first one. I'm only aware of two others and they were definitely posted after.
  11. I'm sure I saw something like 10,000 PPH at MIL and 15,000 PPH at full afterburner.
  12. I think the problem is that I wasn't putting the hook down until just before the break (as I'd seen in someone's demo video) which is when I'm concentrating on my speed and altitude. Now that I know it should be done earlier I reckon I'll be much less likely to forget. I'm surprised the flashing AOA indicator hasn't caught my attention. Setting the hook bypass to carrier (and turning off anti-skid at the same time) is something I do without fail.
  13. Would also like to see an alternative. I'm all for authenticity where it's practical, but control assignments that almost no one can use are a bit pointless.
  14. I'm not that bothered about a Hornet stick. It may be more authentic but it's useful having the redundant buttons on the Warthog one, for VR amongst other things. A throttle quadrant I'd definitely be interested in, but that's a whole new product so I won't be holding my breath.
  15. That explains the many occasions I've hit the deck without the hook down.
  16. The zoom helps, but it's a rather weird effect in VR.
  17. Is there any reason not to set flaps to full before the break? They won't deploy until <250kts anyway and it's one less thing to worry about when it gets busy.
  18. I wondered about doing that as well, forgot to try it last night. Flying the pattern is very easy to do with the heading tape, so using the CRS for finals seems more useful. Guess it becomes a non-issue when we get ICLS.
  19. That's funny, I used just the one throttle tonight and wondered whether that was in compliance with SoP. Definitely doing something right anyway, cos it's the first time I've ever connected at the first attempt and taken a full tank of gas in one go. Felt so happy I didn't even shoot the tanker down afterwards.
  20. It should appear as a pair of regular direct X axis, just like the stick. Getting that far is probably something to figure out in the saitek software. Having said that, is there still a limit of 8 axes per direct x device? If you have stick (2), throttle (2) rudder and toe brakes (2) all as one device already there won't be enough available for the two TDC axes as well.
  21. Turning off easy comms fixed my issues immediately. Thanks again to @jonsky7 for the heads-up.
  22. It's bugged with easy comms ON.
  23. In the same way that flying with a stick is just like using the cursor keys?
  24. Thanks. I'm getting quoted £30 +vat and delivery there. doxzoo.com seems a bit cheaper at £32 all inc. There's a bunch of portrait pages at the end of the pdf, which I'm guessing are supposed to be A4 foldouts. How'd the printers cope with those? Could get away with printing those at work if necessary.
  25. Nice. Where from? How much?
