Lol! Simple, I'd spent ages going through the control mappings as well trying to see if there was a problem. Duh! Well, thanks guys. Bit of a dumb post I realise now hah.

OK! So I went through the training tracks and it showed me how to change weapons and everything. When I try to do this for myself in a mission I select say air-to-ground and select rockets and press fire, but the canon fires instead. So I try to select any other weapons and the same only the canon fires. No matter what weapon I select in air-to-air or air-to-ground only the canon will fire. I assumed this was a bug so I bought flaming cliffs, installed the patch and checked everything was right and it still happens. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?! Please someone help me, much appreciated. tomh19
