  1. Doesn't really matter. It's not 30k ft and it's not a video of a real (Canadian) Hornet, which is what @Jonnylap1's original claim is.
  2. Was definitely able to get the engine oil down below 50°C, though it takes a little while even with -12°C ambient and the nose into a 6kt wind. It was actually faster with the engine on than with it off, which is not what the 1943 manual suggests. Tracks attached. CoolingOilEngineOFF.trk CoolingOilEngineON.trk
  3. I haven't checked it yet, but I assume the first track in @Reflected's original post will show that behaviour.
  4. What manual is that from? (Edit: Nvm, found it) The first part seems odd to me, engine oil cooling down that much without any significant air going through the oil cooler because the aircraft is stationary with a running engine. Especially since you're supposed to heat it up to >40°C by running the engine at a lower RPM than the 1000-1200 range. Another manual I found states: "b. When a cold weather start is anticipated, before stopping the engine, hold the oil dilution switch in the "ON" position for a period of 4 minutes at 800 rpm. The dilution of the engine oil while the oil temperature is above 70°C is not effective. If oil dilution is to be accomplished and oil temperature is too high, stop the engine until it has cooled to 40 to 50°C, restart it and proceed with the oil dilution." Note that this doesn't state a maximum oil temperature for engine shutoff and it specifically tells you to turn the engine off if you want to cool it down to below 50°C. The second issue I can agree with, I've also never run into issues with high cylinder head temperatures. Don't think I've ever seen it over 230°C either.
  5. AGL. I typically use 1500 and it works quite well.
  6. Ah right, I forgot that was the case.
  7. Nitpicking a bit, but no response doesn't imply anything and definitely not that it's hostile. It only indicates no response. It's just that in DCS, >95% of the time you have either friendlies or hostiles and nothing in between, so no response will typically mean hostile. (Unless it's a hornet driver who forgot to turn their IFF on)
  8. First of all, nothing is stopping other content creators from making campaigns with various aircraft on this map. That should answer your first few questions. This is more something relevant for ED than it is for a 3rd party developer. (And I'm sure it has already been requested) Someone also already told you this when you requested the same thing for the Sinai map. Same goes for this, not really something for the developers of the map. Personally, I don't really see how this would add to the simulation. I don't know if you've ever experienced a reasonably strong earthquake, but it's not that special. (And definitely even less interesting when experienced through a monitor/VR headset). Mission makers can simply create a post-earthquake setting if it fits the narrative of their mission/campaign.
  9. You mean the thing they did implement on the Viper?:
  10. As far as I know, HARM TOO in the Hornet is currently simplified and incorrect. But as said above, if you mount the HTS pod on the Viper, it'll allow you to deploy HARMs in a similar way to the Hornet's TOO mode, by using the HAD page on the MFDs.
  11. Looks like the regional price decrease isn't enabled for the Apache then, as 1165,76 TRY is pretty spot on with the currency exchange rate. (The 565,99TRY you mentioned is actually 30 USD, so it's significantly cheaper than what we have to pay)
  12. I didn't say it couldn't, I said it didn't. So still not carried by the CE. Either way, I'm happy we're getting it - But to say something was missing from the Spanish F1 CE's inventory (which is what I replied to), is just wrong.
  13. Looking forward to it! Really enjoyed OCN, but my favourite thing to do in DCS is Weaseling with the Viper.
  14. But the aircraft in DCS is a Spanish F1 CE, which did not carry the S530F.
  15. The pilot does not own the multi million dollar aircraft. Often times there'll be a reserve jet and pilot to replace any jet that has issues
  16. I think the increased risk of losing the crew and the jet while dropping ordinance with a broken gear door is a show stopper....
  17. Thanks for the detailed answers!
  18. The F-5 doesn't use the M61 Vulcan cannon though, nor does it have the same sparks as the Hornet, so I don't see how it is relevant to my question. Let me restate the question(s) clearly: Why do the sparks appear when you fire the M61 Vulcan on the F/A-18C Hornet? Do other jets with the M61 Vulcan also have these sparks when firing the gun? If not, then why not?
  19. Love the new effect! Although I'm curious, I've only seen footage from Hornets having these sparks. I get that it's obviously going to be more visible on the Hornet since the gun is right in front of you, but do other jets with the Vulcan cannon also produce these sparks? If not, then what causes it on the Hornet? Shorter barrel?
  20. I think it's a weird bot. Look at the other 3 posts they made, they're all off topic and/or reviving old threads.
  21. Those don't include all weapons.
  22. What I usually do is simply roll in for an attack run and at the point where I would want to drop/fire a weapon, I put the game in active pause. I then release/fire the weapon and after it has impacted, I adjust the mrads so that the reticle is over the crater/impact point of the weapon. I then write those parameters down and use those from then onwards.
  23. I'm getting clutter while in the middle of an empty Black Sea, don't think I should be getting any radar returns at all.
  24. But RAZBAM is making a USAF Strike Eagle, so we will only get weapons used by the USAF. Two weeksTM isn't late?
