  1. Jack, I think it can only be done with headphones, which isolates the sound from the mic. (edit) Also, it'll broadcast any music you're listening to... guaranteed to annoy someone if you don't remember to turn off Winamp :)
  2. Do you have to watch the whole track to get the whole Tacview? I love tacview and would really like to be able to use it in any fashion with my flights on the 104th server. It's a great learning tool.
  3. Oh, man, so that's what 'radio assists' does. I never figured this out either... thanks!
  4. If your trim is acting up after having used an autopilot mode (such as diving forward excessively), try toggling on the level autopilot for a little bit. That, on my computer and with my controls, will cause the trim to revert to normal. It's almost as if the trim gets stuck in the trimmed autopilot position. Not sure this'll help you (I was on last night and we couldn't figure it out), but it's a thought.
  5. Don't expect to be able to take out SAMS in a regular SU-25. I think it'd be pretty suicidal to send a flight of SU-25's over any SAMs, especially IR ones. Ideally you have aircraft with stand-off capability and zoom capability to spot the SAMS and take them out from a distance. Su-25T, A-10, Ka-50 are good examples. Try the training missions that have you running up against undefended targets if you want good practice with unguided munitions. Speaking from multiplayer experience, the only time unguided munitions are used is when all surface-to-air threats are eliminated! Advanced techniques by advanced pilots might be a different story of course :) In some cases you -might- be able to climb above the firing altitude of a SAM and be able to CCRP bomb it.
  6. One of the FAB's, yes. I actually thought the OP meant Mk-82 :) I'm not sure if the FAB's and Mk82's are equivalent, but I kind of assumed they were... So that particular issue is only present on the 104th server, scratch my earlier post!
  7. I've been -wondering- why that pylon on the Su-25T seems empty... Thanks for pointing this out, VireVolte :)
  8. Did you find out the autopilot keys? Alt 1 through 6 enable various useful autopilot modes that you want. The key reference for your aircraft lists them, you can find it in your game directory under the Doc folder.
  9. Brilliant! I've run out of keys for FRAPS, TS, TrackIR, so I think I'll go this route. My solution up until now was keypad / for TS.
  10. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=50869 Look for the 500k low res file http://www.mediafire.com/?ozolfoowt2f I printed it out cropped some and crammed it onto a glossy sheet of photo paper and can read the airports + terrain features.
  11. I'm having the same problem as well!
  12. You might want to see if you can just create the profiles in-game, if you're going to the trouble of aircraft specific profiles. The game's configuration software is pretty good!
  13. Only heathens use the A-10. Real Men (and Women) use the Su-25 ;-)
  14. I love the trim, actually, it's very intuitive. I find it much easier to reach stable flight than by fiddling with little trim knobs on my joystick :)
  15. "Display Zoom In" and "Display Zoom Out", defaulting to = and - ... The keys are reused for radar displays etc thus the generic name.
  16. Sobek, I hope this entire discussion is pointless when the patch comes out ;) You make me want to hunt down a MSFFB2 to see how it works with BS! About the cancellation of forces when trimming.... let's assume it works how you want for a moment: The stick is trimmed forward already in this example. You press the trim button. The force on the stick that was holding it forward is immediately canceled. The stick rocks backwards to neutral position, throwing the Black Shark off course. You could try to compensate for the force change, but it's just like compensating for the force change when you lift off the trim button. You would have to anticipate it and make sure the stick didn't move. The way the trim acts when you lift off the trim button has caused complaints, and I think the G940 would act the same in your hypothetical case. In any case, let's not derail the thread further talking about a theoretical problem with a theoretical fix to a stick that's getting a patch soon anyway.
  17. BSOD issue is resolvable as I posted above.... and supposedly will be fixed for good in the patch. The FFB centering, well, Logitech has promised a change to third-party compatibility in this patch.... hopefully it makes everyone happy on that matter!
  18. The stick -does- change FF levels when trim is activated, and I think it's a problem, but a small one. It only influences one game, DCS:BS, and I can still manage to trim beautifully with the stick. I trim as per the 'real pilots' by holding trim button until on new course and I have great success. We can't have it both ways. If the trim jump's annoying, then your suggestion wouldn't work well. Having never used the MSFFB2, I can't compare it. Comparing it to an out-of-production stick isn't very helpful anyway :)
  19. The compatibility layer WINE lets you run windows games fairly well, but I doubt DCS:BS is capable of running well under Ubuntu. WINE usually slows programs down a bit. I just checked the AppDB for WINE and it looks like nobody's bothered to try FC2, or DCS at all, so who knows. DCS aside, Ubuntu's a great version of Linux! I've even gotten Civilization 4 BTS to run under 10.04 without any problems!
  20. If the stick went limp when you pressed the trim button, that would throw the stick all over the place as the forces suddenly changed. You would NOT like this happening. It's much better to not have the stick suddenly change FF levels while trying to fly :) You need the input levels to be stable. The dead man switch is annoying, but just put a piece of tape over it. I'm a bit curious if other FFB systems have deadman switches, but it's certainly not a deal breaker. (edit) I wish the stick was a bit tighter in the center, however it's still very -precise- there, just not always tight enough to go hands-free without trimming. It hasn't bothered me to the point where I set up a deadzone.
  21. The solution is here: http://forums.logitech.com/t5/PC-Gaming/G940-shift-button-crash-solution/m-p/400601#M2964 Basically, make a new profile. I had this problem a long time ago, it drove me mad, I set the G940 aside until I read that post.
  22. I think the G940 works just fine for FC2. I haven't run into any problems whatsoever with it in FC2, and the BS problems are fairly minimal. I can't think of any serious problems in BS, trimming just takes getting used to. Just thought I'd try to clear that up. Personally, if I was joystick-less, I'd wait for the A-10C stick's reviews before making up my mind! (edit) The extra buttons on the G940 throttle base are extremely useful. Whichever stick you pick - make sure it has lots of buttons!
  23. I think that's a restrictive approach. I wouldn't play MP if I couldn't change loadouts. Simple example: Flying a SU-25T against a site guarded by SAMS. Without the ability to switch between SEAD and regular ground attack, it's pointless.
  24. That was one of the biggest problems I had when I first came to DCS:BS and FC2. "Why doesn't aircraft X have this incredibly simple, obvious feature?!?" Initially it was shock at the 'primitive' cockpit of the Black Shark. Then I was shocked at the complete lack of GPS and moving map displays in FC2, making the BS look like a flying supercomputer. Don't even get me started on the lack of autopilot in the regular SU-25  Finally I understand more about why real life soldiers write mournfully of stupid equipment deficiencies/problems. They have to deal with the lack of equipment in the real aircraft, whereas we can just bug developers to add convenient, unrealistic features :)
  25. I fly the SU-25T a lot and thought "Hmm, that doesn't sound right", so I hopped in FC2 just now. You can start the engines without turning on the power.
