  1. Wake me when it hits EA.
  2. At this rate DCS may become a rail simulator. Anyone remember having fun with HO train sets when they were a kid?
  3. Right, forgot about that. Package in a zip with a file name? Effectively double zipped but..
  4. Favour to ask... can we put the mission version number in the file name? Also, something like this maybe could be hosted on Github? Just a thought.
  5. Just tried it. Doesn't work. Crashes DCS on start up.
  6. I'm jazzed about the Herc coming and would be interested in the DHC-4 as well. Full fidelity C-47 would be great. AN-2...
  7. I forgot about that video. After re-watching... Wow, what a difference in the 3D model. Perhaps some of it I'm seeing is the new lighting. The old one wasn't "bad" per se - perfectly fine for a shoot 'em up simulator. Really appreciate the redo that M3 has done. Can't wait to get my hands on this aircraft.
  8. Got a chance to play with this script last night. Works very well! No dramas using it at all.
  9. This is fabulous. I've used @Hardcards SWAPR script for the last couple of years and it was "ornery" to get working in my experience. Took a lot of trial and error to make it work and I could never figure out what the magic incantation was for success even after creating many scripts. So much testing and frustration. It seemed like a great idea that was struggling with DCS's API scripting environment. On the plus side, all the old scripts I've made have seemed to continue to work release after release of DCS. Hardcard's work was a really appreciated quality of life improvement to DCS. Looking forward to trying StopGaps tonight and seeing how "ornery" it will be.
  10. La-11 sounds good. Would also like to see a Yak, P-39, and P-40.
  11. Really happy to see the Étretat cliffs modelled with the revised map.
  12. Looking forward to this. Finally got some quality time on the map last night and as posted above the colours are somewhat off-putting as delivered.
  13. Honestly, there is nothing in the new list of engine features for DCS that any computer from the last 2-3 years (or older) can't deal with. DCS today can't make full use of a 5600X or 10700k processor. And the new GPU technologies won't affect 30X0 or higher GPUs. If anything, it'll finally use them properly. An argument can likely be made that 10X0 and 20X0 GPUs may see some more life. We'll see. Anyway - I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point. Just ride it out and see what develops.
  14. Fwiw, in the past i have run DCS Server in a Windows VM on a non-Windows host in my DMZ with the VM only able to see the public internet via a PCIe passed through NIC for some added isolation. Worked fine. I don't trust Windows or gaming platforms at all - this seemed like the best way to reduce the blast radius if Windows or DCS got compromised. Worst case, delete and restore the image and re-harden as necessary. And it can't get anywhere inside the local networks. Someone really paranoid would have the VM provisioned via Ansible, wipe and replace after every mission cycle as a matter of course. Actually, might be a reasonable way to side-step the VM part. Make sure winrm is properly hardened of course! Nowadays people play DCS client on Wine. There's probably no reason why that couldn't be done with DCS server. IIRC its the same set of binaries. That way you eliminate Windows from the possible attack vectors. I couldn't be bothered to mess with Wine personally, and not sure if I trust Wine that well anyway. Nuke and restoring the image is quick and easy enough. I only use Windows for DCS and Assetto Corsa. My daily driver computers are not Windows based so I may have a skewed perspective on things. Another thing to consider... if it isn't being used then turn it off... can't attack something that is turned off. If its a 24/7 box then that is something different. Random thoughts...
  15. A DMZ should never be an unprotected network segment. Think of it more as a different security level zone compared to you internal network.
  16. I haven't tried it. There's been long standing issues with the cooling systems of all the prop planes and ED developed a new cooling model that they have been rolling through the prop plans over time. I may be misremembering but that the thrust of it I think. Anyone knows/ remembers more details? I expect the '52 is the last aircraft to get the new cooling model. The '52 always seemed to have the most forgiving implementation before this change - no idea what it is like now. Best way to test is to ignore the engine management protocols and see how long it takes to frag the engine. Ha.

    livery requests

Blacksheep is obvious I guess. Was a Corsair ever painted in green camo while in U.S. service? Would like to see some British and French liveries. Weren't there some South American operators as well?
  18. PT-109.. with working tubes? Snarf the logic from the eboat?
  19. Power rating of the biggest card is 350W. Not a big deal if you are already running RTX30something scale card already.
