No worries! We're two months out! I'm sure you'll be satisfied. emoji1303.png

I certainly hope so. I am optimistic and enthusiastic. I am looking forward to whoopin' around in the Chinook for the sheer fun of flying. It's gonna be great.

But someone somewhere has got to throw me some good news first. They have their price, I have mine.

The Ch-47 is being sold on the same e-Store where I bought all my Razbam modules, so it is pretty related on my view ... 🙄

I am super enthusiastic about the CH-47. Easy Top 3 of any of the upcoming modules. But I need some feel-good from the powers that be first.

Yes Im his customers and fan from years and good member (his old Forum). I know his quality, but also I have had bad experiences with SA maps of Razbam (and still Im waiting for patches). Although there seemed to be only 2-3 people there, and ORBX has quite a large team.

Just hope ORBX doesn't get into the "coming soon" thing where it means sometime between two-weeks and when your grandchildren retire.

Right, I hope only that they dont bring the same issues which are present in South Atlantic map by Razbam (named: performance & optimalization).

Also +1 for trail period from beginning. This is ORBX's debut here, Id like to know the performance (especially in VR) before buying.

On one hand they have no experience with DCS, but on the other hand they've been making terrain for a long time and in great quantity.

    I'm feeling positive about it.

  5. Makes me think of my pre-DCS days, flying another sim but taking a look at the DCS forums from time to time, and seeing change logs 100 lines long with things like:

Fixed - AIM-7 sub vector paint micrometer bearings

Fixed - AIM-7 partial fin delayed reaction cooling

Fixed - AIM 7 weekly gyro update crew tangent above Mach 1

...and I'm thinking WTF! is all this?

Now it all makes sense. :smoke:

What surprises me most is the vast majority of players likes A-G over A-A, but then prefers f/a-18 and f-16 over a-10. The taste for new stuff?

Speed, height, distance. Even with A2G those are beautiful things. (But still love me some A-10)

And those funky long range A2G weapons and radar targeting, you get your Space Shuttle of Death jive going on. :smoke:

The most interesting number in this particular pie chart is, that 20% fly without any head tracking whatsoever….

I can’t imagine flying without, even for strictly ground pounding.

I just got it and I find it very hard to get used to. Old dogs, new tricks, and all that.

Yes, surprisingly high ... previously I would have thought that only a minority of DCS players edited their own missions.

That's one of the best things about DCS: a great in-game easy to use mission editor.

In my years of DCS, 99.99% of my flights have been through the mission editor. Every flight is my flight. It's the only way I want to fly.

Three places to "fiddle" with things: The Beam Eye Tracker settings (they each have a tool tip to let you know what they do.) Second, the Mapping and Accela Filters in Opentrack. And finally the in-game TrackIR settings for each axis (Filter Axis commands only, then look at the settings for Pitch, Yaw and Roll first.)

Best way to do this is to get everything running in the game and then adjust each setting and check the results (Alt-Tab to get to Opentrack; once that's open over DCS, you can access Beam Eye from the Windows task bar to get to Beam Eye.) You can set dead zones in Mapping on Opentrack as well as turning distances for your head vs. in-game. With the in-game settings, you want to play with Dead Zones, Saturation and Curves (negative curves seems to work the best for me.)

Also, don't forget to configure a Center Keybind in Beam Eye. I have it mapped to a button on my joystick. If the view your seeing starts to get out of control, a quick push of the button will center everything up.

    Thanks!

For some odd reason, the key I binded (is that a word?) for centering keeps unbinding itself. Don't know why. Not a big deal, but odd.

One thing I've noticed is that Beam Eye takes control of the camera so you won't see an image any more with Opentrack's interface. It also means that you'll need to shut down Beam Eye to turn off the camera. Previously with Opentrack by itself stopping tracking also shut off the camera.

With Beam Eye, you'll also have the option of different resolutions from your camera, depending on the camera. It's another setting to be aware of if you have issues.

    Thank you for that.

And it seems Amazon is delivering my webcam a day early so I get to try it out tonight. 😃

Well, it does illustrate the problems of the "Early Access" business model, and the IMHO not sustainable trend of shifting responsibility to the buyer for one-off purchases. My Steam Library is filled to the brim with broken promises a.k.a. "Early Access", so I'm part of the problem, I know.

Reminds me of that cartoon from Pogo:

  12. Basically, if it's not "fulfilled by Amazon", I don't buy it. And Amazon has given me amazingly good customer service, so that's why I only buy what they stock.

I've made hundreds of Amazon purchases over the years and only once did I order something from a third party; a PC part coming from a big in-country store with a good rep.

I started playing DCS a short time ago and began with Opentrack and it's built in Neuralnet tracker. I wasn't happy with all the jumping around I got with the video using it.

Yesterday I found out about Beam Eye and after watching a couple videos purchased the standalone version. I'm still playing with the configuration but I will say it's much more stable than the Neuralnet tracker.

Glad to hear you like it. Just ordered a webcam, should be here Sunday, and I'll be trying out the Beam Tracker demo. Looking forward to some of that 6DoF goodness.

I had a $10 head tracking app from Google Play, worked off my phone, but it was too jumpy, didn't use it much at all. But the A-10C cockpit at night was gorgeous to look at with that thing.
