  1. Thanks for the responses. I have never flown an combat aircraft or any aircraft at all. Only sims since F-117a simulator for Dos (floppy disks). I guess they really made these combat aircrafts practically fly themselves today. See, I did not know that. WW1, and WW2, they couldn't text and fly. But today, finding out they can, specially flying at speeds of over 250 knots. When I first saw a person on twitch pick up a cellphone (reading it), and then texting. To me it was a bizarre moment, saying to myself "...is their something wrong with DCS or is this a for real?" I had to ask the question. If it was a stupid question. Very sorry. Thanks you guys.
  2. Just got me curious though. Even if combat aircraft pilots were to text. Letting go of the handle (stick) wouldn't effect control of the aircraft? For real.
  3. Got to me while watching some people on twitch flying around, and then while in route to a mission, they will look down, and then pick up a phone. Look at it, and then text. I am like "Is that possible?" Can you really fly a military aircraft, while waiting, heading to your waypoint, texting and fly. Is their something missing in the simulator that is making this possible? But in real life you can not? Can you really text (to your wife and ask "what is for dinner, going to wear that sexy outfit tonight? See you later! ") and fly in f-16 for example? Didn't know where to put this. Just a conversation, observation.
  4. For a lot of reasons. 1.) I was new to the Oculus. Watched videos, how to set up. 2.) Wrecked my Oculus. Images ended up stretched, pixels making lines. Flickering, black bars. Was able to fix with "Oculus Debug Tool", that "Tray Tool" doesn't have the features. Was scared. Because I just purchased this. 3.) Oculus has its own called "Oculus debug tool" in the Oculus folder, in which they constant update, and with new/Added/fixed features. 4.) Oculus Tray tool. They do not update (who ever makes it). They may update, but not much. 5.) As you more experienced using the Oculus, understanding it, and with PC. You may consider Oculus Tray Tool. (I wouldn't. But that is my opinion). 6.) I do have a 1080ti, and their is one pull down menu "1080ti/2070". I did use that. And it helped mess up my Oculus, with other changes. Thank goodness for "Oculus debug tool." I was able to put all back, to default. 7.) Just plug a USB 3.2 type-C into motherboard. Only changes you need is in DCS options as a newbee. ************************************************************************************************** The Way I run DSC using Oculus. 8.) First time using the Oculus to PC in running DCS. You have to load it up, go to options. Select VR (enable), enable this that (Not in DCS atm). Exit DCS. 9.) On PC, load up "Oculus" Software. Turn on "Unknown Sources" 10.) Turn on you Oculus (hooked up to PC using 3.2 type-Cable). 12.) When all done. Load up DCS from the PC. Not Oculus. 13.) Have fun! See the beauty. May adjust settings to your liking.
  5. Finally got my 3.2 USB cable. Just a cheap $40 for now. Hooked it up, and I did have to play around. Only have to turn on "Unknown Source" in generals tab. You have to load it from your desktop and not from the oculus. And it will take it from there. Did a little flight, and WOW! I never encountered a simulator so kewl. It feels like I am actually in the aircraft. Will have to play with graphic setting in DCS later, also adjust the Hotas. Oh man, I can not express enough of the immersion. Good Job DCS!
  6. Guess AMD is not VR ready. Although Nvidia has VR Ready in the Specs. I find it confusing, when you do not plug the VR to the video card. Uses a Type-C cable, and plug into Motherboard. Has to be 3.0 etc. Do not know how that works from Type-C to motherboard and the video card states VR ready. Not VR friendly though. *Note* Told to watch out, be careful when buying a Link Cable. Lots of knock offs. Copy cats using Oculus logo. The best is Kiwi. Although they can be expensive, but it pays off.
  7. Was able to fix Oculus Airlink, specially after sending a report to Oculus (or "Meta" that is now the name of the company. Expect logo change in a update) due to the issue. Uninstalled Oculus Tray tool (please do not use), and used "Oculus debug tool" that is in the oculus software folder. Was able to reset all to its defaults and fixed. All I can do now is just wait for a better 3.0 (or 3.2) type-C cable. The one that comes with Oculus is a 2.0 (something like that), type-C and only 3 feet long. Made for charging the VR headset and not PC connection. When I get this fixed, done I will do step by step from scratch video. Oculus doesn't have windows drivers. Just shows on taskbar "MTP", click to eject. Helps on problems. But Oculus is a device on it's own, and truly amazing. New to this world. But to PC sim, not so easy.
  8. Purchased a Oculus Quest 2 for DCS, and now it is messed up. My Oculus Quest 2 graphics now stretch (black bars), flicker up/down/left to right. Damaged right after DCS connecting. Looked like I had it, then it crashed to desktop. Many times I have reset the Oculus Quest 2 to default, turned off, and on. And no prevail. Does the same. Before the damage, I have looked at videos how to set up DCS, Oculus. Downloaded oculus software, and oculus tray tool, and followed some advice from Youtube videos. No two is the same. Everyone has different ways of setting up Oculus to the PC for DCS. Come in here, and not a perfect setup either. One states do this, and other stats do that. Confusing, that EVGA 1080ti ftw3 is, VR ready (most video cards), but you have to plug in USB-C able to motherboard. Download oculus software, but no drivers. So in all, I found out their is no perfect setup from youtube videos, and forums. Like from opening box, to what cables, what software you need and how. Some say Airlink does the job and really did not. Reason most get Oculus is due to price. Spending over $500+ is a bit extreme. Bad enough the costs for a video card and then a VR headset. I (and prob others) do not have $500, but I did have $320 on a VR headset, and now burnt it trying to connecting DSC (PC), using Oculus Tray tool software to the VR headset. Dunno what to say, or look for anymore. Just lost $$ for a sim.
  9. The thing is even when AI leaves em on in combat, not sure if AI (enemy and friendlies) really care. But I find it odd, going into combat areas with them on. .
  10. Do not know where to put this, or this can be a stupid question. But is it normal to go into combat with Anti-collision lights, or any flashing lights on where the enemy can notice, see you? I noticed no one turns them off in You tube videos, and watching twitch, even AI keeps them on. When in combat or mission. I turn them off to put out more realism, then when in safe area, I turn them back on.
  11. What I really will enjoy, is flying with a group of friends (up to 10 guys), inside a B-17, watching out for enemy fighters to do a mission. Will this ever be made, or thought of? Is that to much? To complicated? One of my dreams for MP. Anyone heard of Barrel bombing on Dams using Avro Lancaster. That will be some challenging simulation.
  12. Yes, all fixed. Was charged twice. All getting fixed. I wasn't aware I was charged twice.
  13. Okay, it is really embarrassing taking your own credit card to a store, and finding out.."Declined". Then realizing I was charged $75 for the F15c, and another $75 for Combined Arms. How in the world? But my receipt shows $40 for CA, and $15 for F15, which is in total about $55. Something is really f-ed up. Not sure to purchase on here anymore.
  14. Wow...just that bit looks like a lot of work. The night vision view. Wonder if you got AA guns, just firing into the air, hoping to hit something. That is what I was thinking in the first gulf war. The AA guys were told to just fire into the air (not aiming). Will get lucky. Was working on a mission like Desert Storm. Day 1: As a A10c (player), Start up, take off, and then flight (waypoints with names), each about 15-20 mins. While flying, Tomahawks/cruise missiles are being fired onto a city (largest on map), and some aircraft's, like Stealth bombers including F117 and other bombing aircrafts. When the A10 gets about the 5 minute mark (0:05 am), the player get to see all that aa guns into the air (like in first gulf war), and bombs exploding (you can hear air raid sirens). The players mission is to engage ground forces (tanks, infantry), on the outside of city for coalition forces to move in from a south location (infantry drops) from Chinooks. Their will be a other locations in progress, but the AI can do that. Their job is to do the clean up. When the mission is done, you are to return to base. When about 1-3 minutes out (just about to land), the base you are about to land on, is under attack (you will hear the air raid siren). Constant air bombing from the enemy (retaliation), (enemy air and ground) and next thing is allied aircraft's jets come zooming in to attack enemy. You are out of ammo, low on fuel, your job is to get out, and fly to the next airbase. That will not be that difficult, but it is a task/challenge. That was my mission idea. If it were to be a campaign. First mission is to fly, escort friendly aircraft's (that been flying for 10 hours) to bases for a war about to happen. (Mission 2 Briefing: (The enemy) had a date/time to remove it's military, and stop genocide in (city name) and stop advancing or face severe consequences. Well the time is up, and they refuse to. The time has come to take military action. At midnight, the bombings and other military action will start to happen. Soon after that, the President will message to the world of the situation. Your task is to give ground support. Their will be military on the outskirts of the city for our military advances into the city. Come home, land, get ready for next shift.) I can make little missions, but these ones above, always get me thinking. This is going to take forever, like the missions I did in Operation Flash-point: Resistance. And here this mission, the west own the night. If that took a lot, just imagine someone trying. I do not think anyone can do that now. Unless they have the patience. If campaign: Operation ? Mission 1: Escort tiring Pilots to base for future conflict. "Operation: Psychic" (nothing happens). Just an escort. (the thought of "you never know") Mission 2: 2 Minutes to Midnight (War has arrived) Mission 3: Fight for airbase back (long, many hours of mission). Mission (attack airbase), return to base, rearm, refuel, return to battle, help ground forces, return to base. Constant explosions, war on, around the airbase. Feel the pain of the real thing. Mission 4: The push, what is left near airbase. Mission 5: Clean up, help ground troops (war is slowing down). Mission 6: Search, clean, patrol. Their is some stuff with ground troops. Mission 7: Patrol, clean, soon as you reach a way-point, you are told to return to base. Do not engage, enemy has surrendered. President is briefing. After you land, Power down. Campaign is completed. Victory.
