As the title says I am looking for a Huey co-pilot. This will be weekly on Sunday 2:30PM central standard time. This is a persistent campaign and we will have a lot of fixed wing support.
We will mostly be capturing bases and picking up downed pilots.
I prefer a knowledgeable (or willing to learn) but casual co-pilot. I will need assistance setting radios (COMS and NAV), navigation, looking out for threats, and manning the flexible gun sight in the even we enter combat. I would rate my piloting skill above average but not expert level. I can maintain hover, fly straight and level, and land in tight spaces and uneven ground. I can also land on moving targets such as small ships.
FYI we will be moving to the Chinook upon release.

Can someone tell me the difference between these 2 command sets as far as actual radar scanning?
Radar Stick Vertical
Radar Elevation
Why does scan elevation change how fast my sweep bar goes back and forth?
Again I understand there is probably a difference using Mavericks but what about the actual radar... seems they do the same thing to me.
I would not mind a crash course in HOW to use a radar... I am very new to this.
Can someone tell my why I would not want to go full gain all the time? Seems to give a much clearer picture.
Thank you.

It does not clear for me. The DIRTY smudgy cockpit is WAY overdone. It makes it impossible to see ANYTHING.
ED PLEASE!!!!! fix this.
I mean this is absolutely ridiculous how am I supposed to fly like this?
Even turning to where it is clear as possible it is still overly difficult to see.
I realize the PIC looks fine but in the actual game its like I am looking through a smudgy mess on the cockpit glass.
I refuse to believe that the HUD is this hard to see in real life. I tried multiple directions

Remember you also have an "autopilot override" on your stick so you can "trim" the default one in pitch and bank.
Thank you. In fact I use this feature all the time.

Thank you both.

Can someone break this down and explain the actual functions of the buttons in English.
Please don't bother telling me to use Google translate. I have already tried it and the output provides no clarity.
I have created a chart of what I think they MIGHT be. If you have any insight PLEASE share so I can correct this.
The labels ON the grey part are what it says in game. The labels closest to the "button" are what Google Translate says they mean in English.
The outer most labels are what I deduced that they do, however I do not know if this is correct.

I actually built this. I followed my design down to the mm and it seems to work perfect... for me. Note I have NOT done the collective or fixed seat yet but rolling my chair up to it seems to work very well. Eventually I will have a fixed seat. I know this looks askew but it is not. I don't know why it looks crooked in the picture but it has been checked with a square and a level multiple times and is laser straight. At any rate since this pic I have upgraded the CM3 baseplate to the proper one. Also I decided to forego the top screen and the 2nd Elgato Stream deck. A tablet seems to work fine for what I wanted to use the top screen for and a 2nd Elgato now seems unnecessary. I simply place the tablet on the right side MFD mount. I decided to go with ONE center mount for the MFD's instead of 2. It just made more sense. Less weight, less material, and no loss of placement or functionality.
For the screen I am using 2 7" Kindle Fires and Spacedesk. This has limited usability. I can use it for menu selection but it seems to lag too bad for targeting. I will upgrade these to USB or HDMI screens in the future.

You missed the memo. Do not use the "Autohover" which is WIP atm.
I see. Well it is a bit difficult to use a HOT AND keep the helo in a stable hover. I guess I will just have to practice till I get it down. It is doubly hard in MC when you need to line up for your CP.

Not sure what you are talking about when you say 'No matter how easy I work the collective this bird seems to want to fall out of the sky' if the collective/torque are at 90% and trimmed for forward flight then there's no way its falling out of the sky?
Rudder trims fine this end.
The FM is hardly broken and flys well this end.
I thought Autohover is still a WIP and i would assume like any other module that firing/force/weight loss of ordnance would de-stabilize?
Well I am not sure what to say. When I have my rudder centered it will not trim at all. When I have it to the side I have to double tap it to get it to trim. Once to return to center and another time to get it CLOSE to where it is supposed to be. Even when I double tap (or triple tap) trim after a bit it does not line up with the orange tic.
As far as falling out of the sky, that is when I try to go into hover. I have never had this issue with any helicopter before and I own them all. That includes the previous FM of the Gazelle.

FLIR is an infrared sensor system, which would be immensely helpful looking for people at night.
I suppose it might be at that.
-
Why would a large transport chopper have FLIR. It is a transport chopper not a gunship.
-
I cannot trim the rudder pedals properly with option other than NONE. It refuses to return to center when I am at center position and hit trim. When I am in any other mode it does not trim to where I have my pedals but some random spot "in the neighborhood". What's more I have to double tap trip do get it where it is supposed to be.
Autohover does not appear to work correctly. After firing HOTS it destabilizes.
No matter how easy I work the collective this bird seems to want to fall out of the sky. I have tried it with both a VIRPIL CM3 and a VKB STECS, same result. No double axis binds.
Seems the FM "fix" really broke this chopper. It was always twitchy but at least it used to be controllable.

Just recognize that I always fly in transition mode. Works fine for me, even hovering or pinpoint landing. Think, matter of training, training... and patience
.
Oh I can hover perfectly now that I am not trying to "zero out" what I thought was drift.
I find the Russian helicopters easiest to fly. HiP, Ka50, and Hind. I UNDERSTAND (very important) the logic of these aircraft.
Gazelle is twitchy and the Apache is in business for itself. Huey is also easy to fly I guess but no computer assistance.
I must say though I am REALLY looking forward to the Chinook.
-
Thank you for the info. I was having a hell of a time before achieving hover because I was chasing that number trying to zero it out.
Was trying to apply Ka-50 logic to an Apache. Which we all know.... didn't work out to well.

What is your server named. Is it open to the public outside of mission times?

I'm an experienced sim pilot who specializes in the Hornet but am willing to learn the A-10, F-16 or even AV-8B. I'm located in the CST and am available on weekends. I can mission design but don't want to be the "go to" mission design guy. I have using DCS since 2008. I can fly form, IMC, trap, tank, play JTAC, etc. Let me know if you're looking for a Hornet pilot. Am willing to retrain to another platform for the right squadron. Thanks.
Paco
I fly with the Kittyhawk crew.
They run a mission 2:30PM Central Time on Sunday.
Here is the video page. Check it out and see if you are interested. If you are hit me back and we can talk about having you join us for a flight or two and see how it works out.

I would like to fly with a group that is very active in the evening or night. I am really only interested in flying the Mosquito FB VI. I am totally fine flying multicrew operating as the radio man. If I am to fly pilot know I only have about...... 15 minutes of actual flight time in this bird. Overall I have been playing DCS since DCS Blackshark was released. My attendance WILL be sporadic but often.

Can someone please explain the difference between Barometric Altitude Hold and Barometric Altitude Hold "H"?

As it says in the title.
HIND A.I. helper reticle off center on anything but GUI Scale 1 in 4K.
Thank you to razo+r for identifying what was causing the error.

Is your GUI Scale set to anything other than 1? If yes, try setting it to 1.
That seems to have fixed it thank you.
