    Falcon 4?

Is the beta driver also available as 32bit and if so will the same renaming fix work? Cheers
  2. The trim is something I have always struggled with in BS and is the reason it stays on my HDD but rarely gets played, as the frustration gets the better of me :) I think I am probably one of those users who sits in the middle ground of wanting a sim which is true to real life but does not want to spend countless hours refining my skills. On the flip side, I also do not get a kick out of the arcade mode as I actually enjoy learning how to use the other systems. It would be great if there were a 'self trimming' function for lazy @rses like me who only want to play the sim on an occasional basis. I bet there are many people out there who have bought BS but have drifted away from it after being unable to get through the black art of trimming the thing :) Dave
  3. There should be a big banner warning on the download sites advising about the issue with Nvidia cards. Just wasted a gig of bandwidth
  4. Thanks Comieodor, that is exactly the info I needed. Does the i7 come with the 512mb graphics as standard? Cheers Dave
  5. As per title. Just interested in how Lockon performs under Bootcamp. Cheers Dave
  6. Have been fiddling with the curves in the axis calibration but to be honest I have no idea what it does or the best way to use it. I have checked the manual but other than telling me it is for adjusting my joystick settings I am none the wiser. Anyone got a simple explanation for a simple kind of guy  Cheers Dave
  7. In a recent thread I asked for opinions on my draft parts list for a new build. Got a shed load of help and very useful advice and I am 99.9% decided on what is going to be in it. So thanks to all who pitched in and helped. My next decision is which monitor to go for, which is probably as important as the choice in parts as it is no use having a great build only for it to be let down by a rubbish monitor. Ok, after a bit of research it appears I have a choice between TN or IPS monitors. TN being the 'older' technology and IPS being the new kid on the block. And also a choice between 59/60hz and the newer 120hz monitors. I have googled my fingers to the bone and to be honest I just seem to be confusing myself more than is necessary. So I was wondering if there is a monitor which gamers swear by, I appreciate this can be mostly subjective but usually there are one or two models which get talked about more than others. Two that seem to be coming up a lot are the Dell and the Acer. Any thoughts or any recommendations based on monitors you are using. Cheers Dave
  8. I think I have pushed the bank manager close to the edge already, an eyefinity would tip him over I think :)
  9. Hi Seafoam, No plans to. In fact I have just had to google it to find out what it was :) Cheers Dave
  10. The reason I am considering the full tower is, as mentioned above, wanting to ensure a good airflow and ease of access (also, it looks damn good :) ) I think the 5850 will do just fine and it has good reviews with the ability to run stuff at near enough max in most games. To be honest I do not think I would be able to detect a 10fps difference if it is already chugging along at 40-50fps already. The difference in price would probably be better put towards a faster processor. On the agenda this evening is to read up on RAID 0 to better understand the benefits. (Gawd, I really know how to spend a quality evening at home :) ) Dave
  11. Thanks for all the opinions guys, appreciated. I will definitely be staying with the 1336 board and will probably still go with the ASUS Rampage. I have yet to see a bad review of this board, although that is probably the same for the other boards mentioned. Just a case of going for a board with a proven track record and just buying it otherwise I will just go around in circles :) Have to say, I do like the Corsair 800D case, so may well change to that one. Thanks for the heads up seafoam. Other than that, the only thing I am humming and arring about is the graphics card. Need to do a bit more research here me thinks. Everyone seems to think the 5870 is the way to go. I just need to be convinced of exactly what extra bang I would be getting for the buck. Cheers Dave
  12. I did look at the 5870 but thought the difference in price relative to the performance increase over the 5850 was not justified. No plans at the moment to go xfire or sli. I thought if I went for the 850w it would cover me for any future options. LOL at fugly case. She has a great personality though :)
  13. It has been sometime since I built my own PC but after several years of soley using a laptop I have decided to treat myself to a new boys toy :) So after a brief search of parts, and reviews of said parts, I have come up with a draft list. My budget is around £1500 Max. Cheers Dave
  14. Should be more than enough. I have a Dell Vostro 1700 which has a spec which is less than what you mentioned and it has no trouble running Lockon, DCS Blackshark, Call of Duty MW and a few others. Spec: C2D 2.0Ghz 3Gb RAM 256Mb Nvidia 8600GT Win 7 Home Premium Dave
  15. Got that on the shelf, may give it another whirl (so to speak) :joystick:
