  1. Carrier Air Wing Five announces it's official opening March 1st, 2023! We are proud to provide the community two recruitment videos. Humor is always a guarantee with our recruitment videos https://youtu.be/4ar_NPEdXOI https://youtu.be/-kXFKmIPYx4
  2. TLDR: the wings are 5 degrees up in relation to the nose of the aircraft. -5 units of AOA to get to degrees
  3. I just came out with a video showing the way I used to make TARPS images before we get the TARPS. Count the “uhs” and “uhms” as you please
  4. For the F-16 comment, this article should answer your question. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable in aerodynamics could chime in on the F110 ramp question. From my understanding, supersonic air is not great to have go through your intakes, due to the shockwaves generated, which can cause you to chuck compressor blades. Even the F-15EX of today with it's fancy engines still use intake ramps to diffuse the air coming into the intake.
  5. It’s all WIP. Welcome to open beta
  6. It’s not meant to be 1:1
  7. As the title states, the AI defend the AIM-54, regardless of what range the phoenix is set to go active at. Setting the phoenix to go active at 6nm or 13nm in the cockpit doesn't change the fact that the AI aircraft defend the missile at 10nm. I can provide tacview and/or track files to prove it if necessary. Just thought I'd mention this while the AI BVR updates are going on.
  8. Another thing to note is full flaps in BFM was done for slow speed 1C fights irl by cheating smart F-14 pilots. A notable user of this was Snodgrass
  9. When the tomcat came out, all of our documents, BFM material, TACFORM, and just overall knowledge of the aircraft was the B. When the A came out, it was evaluated that the change from the B to the A was more work than necessary. The idea has been resurfaced on multiple occasions, but never went through. In the end, everyone is not at the same proficiency. Teaching brand new RAG students on the A tomcat when they can have an easier time in the B was decided easier. TLDR: We all would love to fly the F-14A, but the work to transition is just not a priority at the second. Another thing, funny enough, our liveries were initially made 1:1, so our BuNos and everything match up with the F-14A.
  10. VF-154 'Black Knights' are looking for pilots and RIOs who like to loft phoenixes, lob paveways, and do that cool pilot sh*t! If you are all about that tomcat life and are interested in simulating real life carrier operations, true-to-life combat formations, and realistic tactics, then stop on by to CSG-2! If you are sold already, visit our discord server! discord.gg/csg-2 Still aren't sure if you are interested? Check out our latest recruitment video! Not interested in flying tomcats? Check out our sister squadron, VFA-103!

  13. 120 KIAS is the rough stall speed. Don’t go below that
  14. Maybe it doubles the power of the burble
  15. The IZLID mentioned above is a laser pointer, funny enough.
  16. I was actually looking for this, but couldn't remember the exact name. Glove vanes ftw! That's the biggest downside of the fishbowl LANTIRN, yeah Forbidden F-14 MFD This and NS430 LAU-7 and LAU-138 are actually mixed up in the model numbers in game. LAU-138 is the big chaff holding one and the LAU-7 is the current one that magically dispenses chaff right now.
  17. I think a question most people have had with the recent updates to the FM, autopilot, and the recent comments about TARPS is how much more can we expect? Of course, there is only so many things that can be delivered, and only so many documents about the F-14A and F-14B from 1990-2000 to go around. The community knows the items intended on the Trello roadmap, but here are a list of some items/features that aren't there that I'd be curious about, some more reasonable than others. Newer LANTIRN Software Update (See any F-14A, F-14B, and F-14D combat cruise videos from 2000 and forward) Cockpit grease pen (FAC(A), aircraft modex, etc. RIO Radar mode alternative button caps (Here is a VF-154 F-14A with the different caps) LANTIRN 40K (Differentiate the older laser burning pod than the 40K upgrade) CATM-7 and CATM-54 HUD Video Export (Similar concept to the TCS and LANTIRN Export display) ALQ-167 (In coordination with the TARPS) HOZ Stab hydraulic resting position (Not level) Tape Recorder (HUD, TID, TCS) Huffer Cart (Static object?) Datalink waypoints between tomcats and E-2(?) BDU-57 LGTR Previously discussed forum topics that may not have been revisited in a while, or were already discussed as a no-go: Removable AAR Door Updated TID and/or TID Symbology AIM-54 Active when commanded (PDSTT with the 54 ACT Switch) AIM-54A HOJ Capability Late F-14A Upgrades Late F-14B Upgrades Dynamic Modexes Expanded Chaff Adapter Missile Speed Gate Functionality Chocks and Chains ACMI Pod Interaction with TRAINING mode(?) CBU-78 GATOR Of course I couldn't cover every single feature the F-14A and F-14B ever had. There are plenty of nonfunctional things that we currently have, but not every switch could be mentioned. Comment below any features I may have missed.
  18. With the 16x16 pixel display we get with the LANTIRN, I don’t think I could tell the difference between focused and unfocused, haha
  19. Just did a flight to test it, and it doesn't look like it really did anything
  20. https://trello.com/b/HsMiJggJ/heatblur-public-roadmap It's on the roadmap
  21. What’s your source with that functionality ever being a thing?
  22. I believe it’s around 120-130 seconds, but don’t quote me on it. I know they wanted it to be barely longer than 2 minutes
