801 Naval Air Squadron Deploy from carriers anywhere in the world ! Flying from both airbases and ships deployed worldwide, the aircraft of 801 NAS provide the UK with influence over land and sea, and assist in the wide range of roles undertaken by the Royal Navy from disaster relief to landing Royal Marines onto a hostile shore. 801 Naval Air Squadron is part of the Virtual Joint Strike Wing (Formerly UK Navalops) and fly the Harrier GR9 (Razbam AV8B) We are currently recruiting Harrier pilots of any level to join our Squadron. Our main night for flying ops is Saturdays at around 2000hrs UK time, although we have members flying most evenings. The squadron not only fly as part of the strike wing but also has its own independent training and missions. The age limit to join is 18+ with no exceptions. Don't worry if you are new to DCS and the Harrier, we offer an exclusive training package to get new pilots up to a good level to be able to participate in squadron operations. Upon an application being accepted, new applicants will be asked to fly a check flight in the Harrier with one of our instructors. Upon completion if an applicant is at a sufficient level then they will be invited to go straight into the squadron. Our rank structure is based on the Royal Navy and all new pilots start as a Cadet until they complete certain qualifications. This must be achieved in the first three months of probation.
