  1. Australian Hornet Ball 2020 The 2020 Royal Australian Air Force Hornet Ball video, featuring a compilation of F/A-18A/B Classic Hornet and F/A-18F Super Hornet footage.
  2. I have to practice AAR a lot to remain reasonable at it and I'm certainly not proficient at it in all aircraft with the capability (A-10C and F/A-18 only really TBH). The minute I stop practicing this my skill level drops off quickly. I've always found this reasonably difficult over the years.
  3. Auto start? Never. I don't even know the keyboard command for it.
  4. No change? So I'm not the only on that though it felt different? Hmmmmm I didn't notice any change in acceleration, but it felt to me she was flying faster in cruise/ level flight and also harder to hold still on the ground (starts to creep away without brakes on).
  5. Exactly the route I took this morning, although I had to cut back to Incirlik towards the end as I was getting low on fuel. I just have to say thank you Urga Media. This map is just stunning! You have done an exceptional job so far. Worth every cent I spent on it and every GB of SSD space. The terrain relief and overall level of detail is amazing. Nothing looks like it was cut and pasted. The down side is that I now wish all the other DCS maps could be brought up to this standard. I put three bags on my Hornet, set all DCS graphic settings to max and flew the route above. Epic!! Its so pretty I can't bring myself to bomb anything ........ just yet :smilewink:
  6. Yeah, it always feels like we have to wait an extra day here :smilewink: Really looking forward to this map. Just looks stunning and so highly detailed. Not to mention the endless scenario opportunities here over the last 75 years. Now where did I leave my Hind???
  7. Wow!! Thanks.
  8. Thanks for the advice and insight
  9. So what do we do now? Do we need to cancel the update and wait for another hotfix, or can we just ignore this warning and proceed, or do we need to do something else? :helpsmilie: Update: This is the first Error message and I have stopped here. This is referring to files that are in my DCS Openbeta installation. D:\Program files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\_downloads
  10. Have you guys stopped doing development updates in your newsletters?
  11. ^these reasons. Please.
  12. I too didn't realise the size of Cyprus in relation to the scale of this map. It is indeed another huge chunk of ground, so fair call on that being missed for the moment. Having said that, I'd be happy to pay for it as a paid add-on/ update later on. :music_whistling:
  13. Firstly, from the images provided, this map looks absolutely spectacular. Well done Ugra Media! Without doubt, this general area is the one I've wished for the most over the years. Like most everyone else though, I just wish there was more area included, but lines have to be drawn somewhere. In the short term I'd be verry keen to see more ocean and Cyprus included to the west of this map. Not only to include the airfields of Cyprus but also to give some realistic manoeuvring/ operating space for carriers and shipping from different nations. I wouldn't mind if this meant just coastline and terrain mesh for areas north and south of the current map (Like we have in the Caucuses Map). Longer term, perhaps more of Israel/ Egypt to the south?
  14. Have they revealed the size/and exact location of the map, like an F10 or ME shot? What time period is the map set for with the facilities present? Current Day or other?
  15. I get what you're saying there Swift, but it doesn't make sense to me. Surely whichever sensor I have currently selected as SOI should be controlled by the HOTAS? That's the whole point of selecting the SOI. The TDC slews for whichever sensor is selected as SOI, so why not the FOV? It just doesn't make sense.
  16. Had a bit of a practice with this and found it works with the following issues: If launched from ~6,000 MAV-E seem to impact approx 30 m in front of the lased target. I haven't tried any lower than this and all seems good if launched from above this altitude. When using MAV-E and MAV-F for some reason you can no longer change the FOV of the TPod with the mapped FOV key on the HOTAS (like you can with other weapons). You can still change the TPod FOV by pressing the respective DDI button, but not with the HOTAS. Seems like a minor bug to me ATM.
  17. Now I have to go try this out. thanks for the info Swift
  18. You're just getting better with practice? Muscle memory?
  19. Just on a slightly different point. I dropped four GBU 12 on non moving targets last night to try out the new auto lase function. While all my targets were destroyed, I'm sure I saw the auto-lase switch off on at least one occasion several seconds before impact. Now my wind is only about 6 m/s at ground level, so ballistically it was probably going to hit a non moving target anyway, regardless of whether if the laser switched off several seconds before impact. Obviously though, in higher wind conditions, or with a moving target, early disengagement of the laser will have more of an impact on missing the target. Has anyone else notice the auto-lase switching off before impact? I'll test it a bit more today.
  20. I'm pretty sure you have to map the throttle idle/ off switch positions for both throttles (a.k.a. they are not auto-recognised for the F/A-18).
  21. You may find watching some of the F/A-18 Youtube videos by Matt Wagner, Redkite, Spudnocker, Growling Sidewinder and others useful. A picture paints a 1,000 words, right? A minor word of caution though, that some of the functionality on JDAM, radar modes, etc. might have changes since these videos were published but ones on aircraft handling, minor systems etc should be fine. Matt Wagner often posts a video for updated functionality on particular systems.
  22. Thanks for listening, the transparency, community inclusion and being willing to adjust your priorities. It is really appreciated. Glad to see we have a plan for 2020 and 2021. Good luck with these ambitious goals.
  23. For the past few updates the download rate has maxed my NBN D/L bandwidth (6 MB/s). Today, with a much bigger patch and I'm sure plenty wanting it, I'm getting ~2.6 - 3 MB/s from the start of the download. However, about halfway through the download of the update only (not Channel map or P-47) and the download speed has slowed to 260 - 320 KB/s
  24. Thanks for all the hard work that has gone into this huge update. Excited to get a look at the P-47 and Channel map, not to mention new features/ weapons on the F/A-18. Appreciate the more complete changlogs, as well as the more detailed explanation of each change. Great move. Thanks BN  For the past few updates the download rate has maxed my NBN D/L bandwidth (6 MB/s). Today, with a much bigger patch and I'm sure plenty wanting it, I'm getting ~2.6 - 3 MB/s. Perhaps a more realistic stress test of the current download system? Still faster than the torrent would sometimes sloooow down to. Update: I may have spoken too soon. About halfway through the download of the update only (not Channel map or P-47) and the download speed has slowed to 260 - 320 KB/s
