  1. You guys (Eagle Dynamics) created that monster and let it out of the bag, so suck it up!! :P It's an ED Christmas tradition now, whether you like it or not. We all have to do things/ put up with things we don't like at Christmas, like spending time with relatives you don't really like, Christmas carols and movies, bad jumpers etc. but that's all part of Christmas. So please, bring back the ED Christmas lights and let the smashing begin!! :smilewink: Merry Christmas to all!!
  2. Thanks for your reply and clarification NineLine. Much appreciated. Disappointing from Thrustmaster though .... at least in the other 193 countries around the World (other than the US/ Canada).
  3. I've been watching the video entries for this competition. I followed the Thrustmaster Facebook link in the DCS Weekend News post and was surprised to see that it seems to be only for US/ Canadian customers! (See enclosed image). 1. Is this correct? When you vote for the video of your choice, you have to enter your email address, country and city, which seems to indicate there is some sort of filtering in place, otherwise they would only need your email address. 2. If correct, why? Both Thrustmaster and Eagle Dynamics sell their products World wide, so why would they limit participation to just the US/ Canada? This condition doesn't seem to be mentioned in the DCS Weekend News or the ED Facebook link, so some clarification would be appreciated please. Thank you.
  4. Wow! What a huge Christmas surprise in the Change Log! Thanks to ED and 3rd Party Devs for making this happen. Plenty there to keep us entertained over the Christmas break. Great effort which is much appreciated. 6.977 GB D/L here, which is slowly downloading at between 500 Kb/s - 2.4 Mb/s (South Australia). Merry Christmas to you all.
  5. Nice flying on the demo
  6. Thanks Chuck! Top-notch. Love your work as always.
  7. Truly awesome and thorough "first look" at the JF-17. Thank you Mr Kite! I have to say congratulations and well done Deka Ironworks for an amazing first effort!! Very impressive indeed. Really surprised at the level of completeness and systems detail at EA. The configuration on the Specials Page and data cartridge are excellent inclusions. I haven't had much focus on this aircraft until just recently, but the more advanced avionics, bespoke weapon systems, balance required for mission planning and the fact that it can be a REDFOR or BLUEFOR aircraft, depending upon the scenario, makes it highly interesting. Hopefully they will include a Block 2 upgrade at some time The only thing that caught my eye were SOME of the cockpit textures, which looked a little VEAO ish to be honest, but you could also see others that already looked much better and as Mr kite stated, "They are WIP and may be replaced already by EA on 4 Dec." I'm sold so far and very happy that it looks like we have another solid an innovative 3rd Party Developer at the DCS table.
  8. Loved all I read there in Development Report #6! Lots to play with in the near future. Thanks
  9. Brilliant! I had the same question. Just saw Tacview Advanced on Steam (bundled with CMO), but I mostly want Tacview to use with DCS, which I have installed as stand-alone (non-Steam). Very happy to hear they will still work together. Thanks Vyrtuoz.
  10. ^ This. Matt Wagner's videos, Chucks guide and of course RedKite for detailed aircraft systems videos. 104th_Maverick's AAR video is also well worth the watch and Jabber's Case 1 video as well.
  11. First stage trigger press latches the laser on (when so configured) an off (second press of the first trigger stage).
  12. The hardest would be the Warbirds for me (although I haven't flown the Mig-21, which others say is pretty tough). Of the Warbirds, I find the Spitfire the hardest, followed by the FW-190 D-9 (haven't tried the A-8 yet either). Easiest: A10-C
  13. Thanks for the update and effort to get it out this week. Plenty to play with / test there.
  14. With the 3D model now finished, it would be nice to see an in-game video.
  15. You need tp press the TDC designate at he same time you are using the TDC slew. Similar to the Mav functionality. Can't help with the CTD, I'll give it a go tonight.
  16. Agreed! Wile I would like to see it in the Mi-8 more, the Huey did come out first and is a bit more simple in terms of systems, so it does make sense to do that one first. I'm sure ED has every intention of rolling out to both and then other side by side aircraft as indicated above.
  17. Absolutely stoked to see it coming to the Huey, but would also REALLY like to see it in the Mi-8!!
  18. Well that was insightful and well worth the read.
  19. Wow. Very happy about ED's decision to provide regular development briefs! Thank you  Was great to see the recent work/ tweaks to the AI, and now the GFM to compliment that work too. Great move!. However, multi-crew for the Huey! My jaw hit the ground. Finally on the way. Thank you!! Just multi-crew for the Mi-8 to go and I can die a happy man!! :smilewink:
  20. WWII birds use that lower frequency too I think......
  21. One of the improvements I have been looking forward to for many, many years. Indeed it has been in progress/ on the back burner for a very long time. To be fair though, I think the scope of what ED has been working on/ trying to achieve has also changed over time. As I understand it so far: We have recently seen the WIP version of the carrier comms. Once this functionality is complete ED will then complete the same level of detailed comms for airfields. No sure what if anything is been dome about (AI) inter-aircraft comms or Air to ground (a.k.a ground forces comms at this point). ED is also working on a inter-player VOIP system for DCS. One would assume that in-game this VOIP system would mirror all the nuances of normal radio communications (e.g. correct frequency, correct modulation type (AM/FM), radio set power output and reciever sensitivity, Earth curvature, terrain masking and perhaps even encryption eventually??)
  22. The level of detail. I think this is the one thing that really draws people to DCS and keeps them here for years! Highly detailed (within current PC limitations) flight models, systems, terrain and buildings, which are getting better all the time. I love the detailed systems modelling and having to learn each one on a new aircraft. I love that if I fail to turn my oxygen on I will eventually black out at altitude. I love that it is so difficult to AAR at night in bad weather while in a turn, that I want to throw my HOTAS through my monitor at the tanker!! But at least I can do that in DCS. Sandbox World. A very smart decision (IMHO) taken some years back now. I love the sandbox approach ED has taken with DCS World. The ability to have any aircraft in any map with any other type of aircraft, yet you can control and limit all this as necessary through the Mission Editor, which makes what you can do in DCS just about limitless. Variety. I love the variety of aircraft we now have in DCS and their individual quirks that you must master, as well as their different roles, abilities and limitations. I find them all a joy to fly, but for different reasons. Community. One of DCS' true strengths. While they can't please everyone and there is only ever 24 hours in a developer's day, we fortunately do have developers that listen and engage frequently with the community in many ways. The fact that DCS also allows for 3rd Party developers is a significant advantage and we can now see where this has benefited DCS & the DCS community (for the most part - not counting a couple of hiccups). One of the best online communities around. Some very generous people have given freely of their talent and time to develop an impressive collection of mods, skins, apps, texture packs, guides, video tutorials and even aircraft; just to help improve the DCS experience for others. In 10 years I don't think I've ever asked for help and been left wanting.
  23. MIDS LVT switch. On the right panel. (towards the rear).
  24. Selecting Auto should work, or at least it seemed to work in Wags' video.
  25. Always love a new aircraft and really appreciate all the hard work that goes into them. Thanks Team ED.
