  1. Yes, your spec is good enough to play DCS in VR your build is solid apart from the GPU. G2 is the better quality option but is more expensive. The Quest 2 is a good headset and cheaper than G2 but you also have the Facebook login issue. I hope you enjoy DCS in VR, personally, I don't play DCS in anything but VR it's a total game-changer.
  2. I'm in the process of building a new PC for DCS as well I'm upgrading from a 6700k system. Everyone has their opinion about what the best hardware is, personally, I've been researching for a while and I'm going down the AMD route this time. Here's a link with some really useful information specific to hardware and DCS. I hope it helps. http://jaytheskepticalengineer.com/fathering-and-hobbies/flight-simming/flight-simming-hardware-list/
  3. I doubt there were more than 100 cards in the whole of Europe nowinstock isn't even tracking Radeon 6000 series over here and like 5 outlets in the whole of the US....Total paper launch, why bother, just delay the launch better than pi**ing off your entire potential customer base. Instead, they decided to do an Nvidia.
  4. Sorry to hear you got banned....Facebook really is a sh**y company.
  5. With some tweaking and fine-tuning you should be able to increase your framerate but you'll need to do some research and find out what each setting does and the cost/benefit to fps. We all went through this when we started. VR in DCS is a little more complicated than a standard flat screen set up and there is always a trade off between graphics quality and FPS. You'll have to play around with your settings and work out what works for you. The VR optimization vid from Lukas is a great place to start.
  6. Hi, the best advice I can give you is to do a little research about optimizing your setup for DCS VR. You'll probably be surprised to hear that 30fps for VR in DCS, isn't that bad, that's for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons being DCS is not really great at handling VR, hopefully that will change in the not to distant future. With regard to hardware, you have a really nice system but a 2070 super is not going to give you the best FPS for VR in DCS it would generally be considered a little weak for the workload. I'm not trying to burst your bubble or dis your system. You have a very highend computer its just DCS VR requires the very best hardware to have graphic setting on high and high fps and there is always a trade off between the two. That said you can still have a good experience you'll just need to play around with your headset, GPU, and DCS setting to find the sweet spot it takes a little time but once you get it tweaked you'll never want to fly outside of VR again. Here's a link if you haven't come across this vid it really helped me tune my system, it's a little out of date but hopefully it gets you started, also checkout his other vids, there are a couple more that may help. Edit are you running DCS off the SSD or HDD?
  7. Just confirms my thoughts about facebook....bring on the G2.
  8. I just wanted to add my two cent with regarding to upcoming GPU launches and Nvidias 3000 series cards; since I'm in the process of building a new rig as well and have been watching this closely for a few months now. The 3080 20GB card is looking like a thing; there have been a quite a few leaks over the last month. It’s Nvidias response to AMD's upcoming 16 GB vram card and if Tom over at Moore’s law is dead, is correct (he's been pretty much on the money with his 3000 series info over the last 3 months.) it will be coming this December @ $1000 (I assume that’s an FE price). Also the lack of 3000 series cards is not a mistake, it’s by design. According to M.L.S.D, the shortage is about to end in the first week of November. There are apparently 300,000, RTX 3080's and 30,000 3090's shipping at the end of October and there will be no shortage of 3070's when they launch I’ll be very interested to see how well (if the rumours are true) the 3080 20 GB card performs with regard to DCS, given what’s been discussed on this thread. In the mean time I guess it’s just a watch and wait scenario until all the launches have happened and we have some solid benchmarks to look at and some anecdotal evidence from people using the new cards in DCS.
  9. I'll be moving away from Oculus and getting a G2. Nothing will/would make me use or buy another facebook product. They can't be trusted.
  10. Seems there is an issue with the 3080 CTD and black screening, might be something might be nothing. For me it just another reason to watch and wait.
  11. With upto a £1000 price difference between AIB 3080 and 3090 cards for an on average 10% performance gain just doesn't seem worth it imo.
  12. Q2 does look like an interesting headset, it's the facebook login requirement that is putting most ppl off, its the deal breaker for me.. But good luck I hope you enjoy the Q2.
  13. Same for me FB can stick it were the sun don't shine. I'll be getting a G2
  14. There is one left on ebay, current price $75,400
  15. Yeah I can't justify the 3090 over the 3080 for an estimated 20% increase in performance for an extra £750; that covers a G2. I read you really need a threadripper to get the best out of the 3090 for me the performance/cost ratio just gets silly at that point.
  16. I'm starting a new build aswell I'm really impressed with what Ive seen of Nvidias new cards so far. I'm 80% sure I'll be going for the 3080 but I'll wait until Zen 3 launches and see how good RDNA2 is before I make a final decison on specs. FYI geforce just published a video on youtube of 3080 v 2080ti at 4k max setting in Doom eternal (not my sort of game) and the 3080 knocked it out of the park. 120 fps as a rough average @4k on a 144hz monitor thats impressive.
  17. Do you have any links for you could give me? I'd really appreciate it.
  18. Personally I think this is only half the story, there is a big gap, price wise and vram wise between the 3080 and the 3090. The rumour mill did suggest a 3080 with 20Gbs of vram which would be the spot a 3080ti might fill for $900-$1200? I don't think we've seen the last word on high end gfx-cards from Nvida, they might be keeping a couple of cards to play incase RDNA 2 really is a serious challenge to their crown.
  19. The Hornet sounds fantastic! I have had some issues tho. 1. Syria map with the F18 in VR is very choppy its ok for looking around but unplayable (at least for me) otherwise. 2. some graphic glitches, a shadow image of the F18 in F2 view. (PG map) 3.the sun showing right through the fuselage as if made of glass.
  20. TBAR

    Is it the Rift-S mic?

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll check the Oculus settings and keep training as I go.
  21. So before I start I just want to say thanks to Hollywood for producing a great piece of software; when I have had it working it’s been awesome. However my experience with Viacom and VA has been a little frustrating, primarily down to the low level of confidence the software has when it’s trying to recognise what I'm saying. I have completed the MS speech recognition calibrations several times. However VA/Viacom are constantly not recognising the phrase and the confidence really jumps around I've gone over all the setting for hardware and software and I still can't get it working smoothly. So is it the microphone in the Rift-S that's the issue?
  22. Great job ED really enjoying the SC ops! ty
  23. Yes, just download and install into your OB copy of DCS.
