  1. Hello to all Maybe there is still some retro fan of the legendary SSI Su-27 :). I have a question regarding the MFD in the cockpit. I remember that there was a patch, which deleted the name of the locked aircraft on the MFD. It was a welcomed realistic patch. I lost it somewhere and I can not find it on the web. Anybody out there who maybe have it ? It was a few Kb file. Thanks Regards
  2. Hello to all Just as a curiosity I found this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SokBfoIOiFg&t=2046s where is possible to see at time 33:57 the HUD of an advanced Mig-29 (probably SMT or Mig-35) with a locked target and a range scale for the RVV-AE missile (R-77). Correct me but I see the shooting marks at around 20 km......not really impressive. Maybe it is in a training mode and these values do not represent the real values. br
  3. Hi First I would like to thank the developers for the continuing development and improvement of DCS and its aircraft features. Really, hats off. It's too easy to find mistakes or to complain too much about some issues, when the whole product is so complex. Personally I found the added feature in the Russian planes of switching the MFD from being a HUD repetitor to a tactical display (more or less) a very realistic addition, which I think that the "Russian plane" lovers missed. One more feature that you could possibly address in the future is the operation of the RWR in general. Once I opened a thread about this topic and I still think it would be very welcomed to work in this area. To make it short: The RWR (real pilots accounts) works by measuring the signal strength emitted from another plane. Based on the memory of the RWR plus the signal strength, the RWR warns you about the possible impending missile launch towards you. It doesn't matter if the missile was really launched or not, once the opponent is close enough and have a "lock on" on you, your RWR will trigger the missile launch warning. First a steady lock on warning, like it is modelled already then, when the emitted signal is strong enough, the MLW (missile launch warning). So, even a plane without missile can "scary" an adversary. This feature would be a cherry on the cake, nevertheless thanks anyway for all what you've done till now. Well done. Just keep in mind this RWR issue. It's an uncharted area, as far as I know, no other FLIGH SIM ever implemented it. Keep up with the great job. Thanks.
  4. Please check this very interesting video from a joint Bulgarian-Serbian military exercise. You will see Serb Mig-29 firing AA-8 missile. My attention was caught from 15:35 on when the antiaircraft missiles were shot. I was not aware that these missiles are so manoeuvrable, at least if you observe their smoke trails, their motion is impressive. They are basically chasing, not intercepting their targets, at least it looks like that. I thought their pattern would be much more straightforward with little or none sudden change in directions. Here it doesn't seem to be the case. What do you think ? Regards
  5. Hello again Ok, let's go in a visual way. :). I attached two trk files, one in simulation and one in game mode. Easy to picture, when the Flanker comes in shooting range in game mode, beside the PR symbol on the HUD, you get also an audio notice-tone (launch authorized). Viceversa in Simulation mode you don't get it. The youtube link is just to demonstrate that this audio warning really exists in Russian aircrafts. Best Regards And I in turn have absolutely no idea what you are referring to :) And no, YouTube videos are useless when it comes to bug reporting - I do not bother with them. What I need is a track with timestamp of event that is occuring captured in Game mode and the exact same track captured in SIM mode, illustrating the difference in behaviour between Game and SIM mode. Only then can I properly investigate. Either that or a more comprehensive explanation of the behaviour referred to. Game mode.trk Simulation mode.trk
  6. Hi again. Ok, maybe I was not clear in pointing this issue as a bug not as a "wish list". When in "Game" mode, we actually get the PR sound notice. I would assume it would be ok to have this feature available also in the "Simulation" mode. Thanks:)
  7. PR sound Hi One remark. Is it possible to implement the PR (pusk razreshon) voice comand for russian aircrafts ? This is from real life (Serbian Mig-29 on exercise in Bulgaria at 6:50 and 9:50): I think it will be a great realistic addition. Thanks :smartass:
  8. Yes, your explanation seems reasonable....Anyway it was a Hungarian Mig-29
  9. RWR would not detect the launch itself, but is would trigger the missile launch warning when the enemy change from rws/tws to STT and when the signal in STT would cross a treshold regarding the strength (distance parameter). :smartass:
  10. FanBoy2006 ; Yes, it should be like GGTharos wrote in short: STT+range=launched missile warning, regardless if the missile had been fired or not. GGTharos; I fully understand that there is little possibility to see this feature in FC, but i really hope that ED or the poeple who will or are working on future projects will have this feature underlined, at least to crosscheck with other sources. I believe that you can get in contact with reliable sources far easier than i can :) and, as i said, it would be something "new" in PC Flight Simulations and would deeper the reality factor even more. As i understood the spo-15 rwr and american analogues works on the same principles. Another info, a little bit of topic but i think that it can be of interest: After asking the pilot(cca40+ years) regarding the rwr, he alone said that rwr doesn't not work if he turns on the radar (at least in the front hemisphere). Citate; " i can not see on rwr enemy's signals if i turn on the radar"....Now, since there was no more time for additional explanations, is very difficult to judge if this is just a failure of their Migs or this is a "normal" feature of the Mig-29....This info is more difficult to take for garanted, since i read once that mig-29 pilots had no problems in seeing each other in heads on intercepts on rwr....Unfortunately there was no time for further sub-questions and explanations...:(
  11. As i said i just wanted to share the info that i got from a source (pilot) that should be "quite reliable" :) It would be just "nice to have", of course we can live without that, FC is still a great game. This info maybe useful for some future patch or new project, because it would be the the first one to have this feature, at least as i remember, no pc-based flight sim has this feature that apparently is true.
  12. Yes, exactly like that. Maybe i didn't write it correctly. Of course the enemy must be in STT mode (lock on) and then the RWR will trigger the warning( when the signal in STT is strong enough) regardless if the missile was fired or not. Of course in search mode will not trigger anything. Probably, but this is my guess, when the AMRAAM goes active the RWR will sound the missile warning signal.... :smartass:
  13. Hallo to all As you probably know last weekend in Kecskemet was a huge aero miting and there was also the possiblity to seat and take a photo in the cockpit of a Mig-29 and to spend few words with the present pilots. As i know there was once a thread regarding how the SPO Berzoya really works, it was a debate if the additional pitch tone of missile launced at the aircraft is made when the enemy really fires at you or it is just a matter of signal strength (distance). I asked this and the answer was that the RWR makes the additional signal (missile launch warning) when the signal strength of the enemy radar is big enough. So, even if the missile was not launched the RWR will trigger the additional tone since based on the signal strength and on the memory data the enemy is the launching parameters. The pilot said " at a certian distance i have to assume that he could launch the missile" and the RWR, by making this additional tone, warns me that i am in the launching parameters of the enemy aircraft. So, it would be nice that this feature would be added in Flaming Cliffs. :smartass:
  14. Hello I have one question. In Flanker series there was the audio saying "Pusk razreshon" when you were in shooting range with Flanker. Is there some third pary or official patch to get this sound in Flaming cliffs 2.0? It would be just a nice addition, since i read that this feature is real in actual russian planes.
  15. Just today i found on youtube this very nice video from a cockpit of a Mig-29, nevertheless, the CRT is shown during working (close combat mode with IRST). Great video. It is a little bit off topic, but very rarely is possible to see these details.
  16. Just an additional info about the topic: http://sukhoitributeenglish.blogspot.com/2008/07/interview-with-alexander-v-pulenko-test.html Here is an interview with a russian test pilot who said about Su-27sk: "After finishing my training in 1995, I returned to KnAAPO. At that time, the first Su-27´s, dedicated to export, were being delivered to our first customers. Because I had already flown in this type of aircraft while in the Air Force, I went to fly this variant. This aircraft is extremely agile and has exceptional power. The export version is known as SU-27SK (Serial and Commerce) and differs from the Russian version basically by the equipment on board. The main job of this aircraft is air supremacy, as well as patrol and interception. They have long range and the armament includes air-to-air missiles and long and medium range air-to-ground missiles as well. By the way, this was the plane that had greater commercial success, in comparison with other Russian aircraft during the 90´s.
  17. No problem, FC2 is great anyway
  18. Well guys, i think that the page 22 (it is a Flanker cockpit) on your pdf FC 2 manual clearly shows what is missing in the sim. It tells more than all specifications...:) Now, i can not debate what are the differences between sk, s and so on, since i am not a pilot or member of a technical flanker stuff. Nevertheless, the statement on the official Knaapo page is not so clear regarding the similarity between sk and s. "The Su-27SK single-seat multi-role fighter is an export version of the Su-27 fighter that has been serially produced since 1991." "Flight and navigation data is indicated on the MFD and HUD, and on the other cockpit instruments as well." I understand this statement as an improvment over the basic version. "Su-27SK can carry up to..... six RVV-AE medium-range active radar-homing missiles" And we know that the basic Flanker could not fire the R-77. So, if all these modifications were done, it is quite plausible to assume that also the navigational and tactical display system had been upgraded or at least modified. Not to forget, on some video the SK model has also the inflight refueling capability....A further upgrade on request? bye :smilewink:
  19. Hello Ivan Thanks for the great picture and info. Is always nice to see these details...but, we are not talking about the same plane. http://www.knaapo.ru/eng/products/military/su-27sk.wbp It is an export, upgraded-superior version of that in the sim (basic Su-27) Regards
  20. Hey I am not saying to remove it, just give a option to choose between thes two modes, one less realistic like it is now and it is just fine, and one as close as possible to the real one, that's all. I always fly the Flanker, but honestly, regarding the situational-space awarness, they have a huge (non realistic) advantage when flying with an AWACS over the F-15:pilotfly:
  21. Thanks for the response I agree, but in very very few occasion i have read that a kind of tactical display is aveliable in the Su-27. These claims were very few (more or less on forums) and without some strong confirmation (book, link, pictures, pilots's words, disclosed technical data). It is just my oppinion but i strongly believe that it would be far better to remove this feature from both, Mig-29 and Su-27, than to leave it in both systems, or to give a option (switch) to choose between them (hud repetitor or tactical display). Since they share the code, this feature-option could be in both aircrafts (Su-27, Mig-29) If you have some open source to confirm the aveliability of a tactical display in the Su-27 please let me know. I know, you are working hard, and you did a fantastic sim, take this just as a future issue to be addressed or at least to give the possibility to choose (repetitor vs tactical dispaly). Thanks again and all the best for the future
  22. Russian HDD (head down display-HUD repetitor?!? Hello to all Is there any possibility that in the future the HDD in russian cockpits (Su-27,Mig-29) will be correctly displayed? As i know it is more or less just a HUD repetitor, it does not offer the possibilty of a AWACS view with all waypoints displayed, enemys positions.....I think it would add great depth into reality. If the dev. are thinking of some future correction i hope they will not missed this one, it is a very old "bug"....from Flanker 1.0 to these days. I think on the net you can find many pictures about it, also in your pdf manual a covering page ofa topic has proper HDD displayed how it really looks like. I don't know you guys but this is also one BIG advantage over the F-15 in the sim...:smartass:, the God's eye view. Thanks, great sim, anyway.
  23. Hello So, i am trying to recall the good memories by playing back the Su-27 Squadron commander 1.5 but it is without sound. I have a 32 bit Vista :( Any suggestion how to reslove the problem? The graphic is ok, also i tried all compatibility solutions without success . Thanks for the responses Bye
  24. So, the conclusion is? I know it is not "normal" to fly inverted snd looking for targets, nevertheless it is a interesting question from a technical point of view. Any idea? :pilotfly:
  25. Mig and Su radar stabilization question If you are flying level at 5000 meters and your target is at 8000 meters, ok, you put the cursor on +3. But what if you are flying at 5000 meters inverted (your head is down)? Since the airplane is inverted, should you still put 3+ or 3- to get your target? In the game i tried this example and if you are inverted you still need to put 3+ to find your target at 8000 meters. Is this a true feature of the radar? Does it really works like that? Thanks for the explantaions (answers). Looking forward.
