  1. I'll do that - thanks for making it FC3 ready. I was about to fly it in FC2 when I stumbled across your file on the DCS website. I'm going to give that Troposphere mod a go, too. I was just thinking on the last mission, that the weather always seems to be too nice in all the default missions. I do like a bit of an aeronautical challenge ;)
  2. I thought there was a problem with that mission - 5 is it? I read something a few days ago, but I may have been mistaken. Someone was on about getting knocked out by an AK47 - I only assumed it was the one where you have to get out of dodge, because I don't remember this kind of threat from the first 4 missions. Having said that, the 'fix' download was indeed mission 4 (I just checked) - so I'm stumped. My problem was always getting hit by the AAA in mission 4. I got rid of the bunkers - that was easy, but trying to stay out the way and help with destroying some of the other stuff (is it Iglas or something?) I always ended up losing my hydraulics. Three times, iirc. Funny - each time I said to myself "I know what is coming and it isn't going to happen this time" - and guess what? Did anyone ever tell you the definition of insanity? (quote from Far Cry 3 - if you played it, you know what I'm on about). Good luck
  3. Yes, it's the default load. I made a couple of rocket passes after the Stela was knocked out - think you see it in the video - and there were lots of explosions but nothing actually got damaged. I flew half the Deployment missions in BS2 before - but rather than start half way through, I thought I'd start from the beginning again. Even though there isn't much to do in the first two missions. I think it was mission 4 where I kept getting hit and having to crash land. The one where you have to knock out the bunkers first. Will see how I get on this time round. Think the only proper missions I flew in BS1 were online with some of the guys here.
  4. I agree with that, splash - I use the continuous release for the same reason. Would be nice to be able to tweak the release delay. Thanks for the comments - I'm glad they are okay. I never get feedback, even though I used to ask for it and have an e-mail address up, so I never knew what people think unless I ask on TS or a forum. I've uploaded the video highlights. Unfortunately there is the odd stutter, but I don't think it's too bad otherwise, except a little blocky. It's only 6:45 minutes but took about 2 hours to get on YouTube.
  5. Thanks - yeah, the Shark is good fun, too. If you haven't tried the Deployment campaign yet, I would give it a go - it's not too difficult.
  6. I've been posting some AARs from the Revanche campaign on my website. I've also just started the deployment campaign in Black Shark 2 (v1.1.1.1) and AARs will be up soon for that, too. The videos are nothing special - I don't have enough internet speed to make good quality or longer ones just yet.
  7. Ah - that explains why I never heard of them being used online. It was always either Datalink or "watch my tracer" to mark targets.
  8. Well we don't use the US system of dates either, as you probably know - though it seems half the world do (as well as their spelling and everything else) people no longer seem to be proud of their heritage any more. Anyway - that's exactly the point I'm making and the reason for the question (the bino's). I recently rewired one of my home made UFC panel and whilst setting it up for BS2 I came across those assigments - so I think it's fair to assume they have crept in since v1.1.1.1 You never know, this might be a bug in the updater. Not that I'm complaining. I've not actually tested such commands yet - think I'll do that later today. I was also wondering why they sell BS1 standalone these days - maybe for people who don't have the hardware to run DCSW? BS2 could be seen as an advert for DCSW - so I can some way understand that. Maybe they just had too many copies left over? :music_whistling: Or maybe it's just extra income for them - who knows. I actually enjoy BS1 still (lots of missions I downloaded and haven't flown yet - and I paid for the Veergev campaign and want to fly that in its intended environment) and I fly Deployment in BS2 standalone as I've never suffered from bugs with it (unlike the DCSW version).
  9. Considering BS2 was released less than two years ago, it's hardly "years" since DCS stopped 'maintaining' it, as you put it. Anyway - the reason I asked and said "appears" is purely because I have never used these functions in standalone BS - nor heard others use them online. They may have been in there originally, but I never noticed them and I would definitely have assigned them to controllers if I had. Examples are Binoculars, with laser and IR and the option to have separate keys for "Switch dialog" (sic) and "Main menu" in the radio comms section. Actually, as BS2 (and indeed BS1) are still sold as separate purchases by DCS, it would make sense to add the occasional improvement as an advert for DCSW, even if unofficially - hence the thought it may be possible.
  10. I fly all three iterations of the Ka-50 from DCS - v1.0.2, BS2 v1.1.1.1 and the one in DCS World. I am setting up some assignments before setting off on the Deployment campaign again in v1.1.1.1 and I noticed that some of the functions that were added to the DCSW version of BS2 appear to have also been put into the standalone version. Anyone know if this is the case?
  11. Thanks :) If the one I'm currently building, with the RAF Benevolent Fund scheme, turns out okay I'll post a pic or two. It's very difficult to get right, though, so no promises.
  12. Funny people mentioning the UH-1 module and protection - the CTDs I've had (first ever in DCSW) since the 1.2.6 patch were all cited as caused by uh1_protect.dll and I wasn't even flying it. I'm also very suss of the new Mi-8 - my sim slows to a crawl whenever one is around, otherwise it's in the high 50s fps. It's hard for me to know if my load times are longer without actually timing it. My load bar fills to about 1/3 of the way, then there is about 20-30 secs (guess) pause and it jumps straight into the cockpit. I pick up my guitar every time I load the first mission and twang the time away! :smilewink: oh yeh - 6GB DDR3 here with 4.3GHz i5 SB and an old SATA hard drive. I would have an SSD if I had any decent money. We aren't all well enough off to have the latest kit. tbh I never had reason for it, either, up to now. Planning one for next year.
  13. I was thinking the same, earlier. Option would be good to keep everyone happy. Still, I won't complain as it can be adjusted as mentioned. Must admit, I'm surprised, though - normally I get a right slagging off for saying I think having it in Russian for the English version is not the right thing to do. Another thought, though - isn't the idea of FC3 and the individual aircraft from it to encourage "lay" people into the sim fold? I think if they get a Russian aircraft thinking it would be nice to try something new, it might put them off if they can't understand anything (except the subtitles and that is only a proportion of what's going on). I thought making things more accessible was the aim. Like I said - I have a fix, so I'm not bothered, but those who don't go reading forums for whatever reason, won't know it. Hopefully it will come up in Google.
  14. I didn't complain about English - it's my native tongue (the proper one, not that skewed, lazy version the 'other lot' use :) ) and let's face it, if I am a pilot in my country's air force, I'm going to understand everything that goes on - because it's my native language. So at the end of the day I don't buy all this "it's so unauthentic" or "but it's a Russian plane so you need to have Russian language" blurb. Personally I think that's a really stupid thing to say - oh yes - let's all have everything in a language we hardly understand a word of and then it will be so much more realistic. Horlicks. I do have sympathy for those who don't speak English, Russian or German, though.
  15. Well I already have one - but another couple would be nice :) LINKY
  16. Find them in the Config/Input folder of the directory Diemos mentioned. I back mine up every time I change something and have had no problems at all with reimporting them via the options/controllers GUI in DCSW. I think I'd go nuts if you couldn't do it. I always give my profiles an easily identifiable name such as Su-25T_Warty_Stick then delete all entries from the back-up except the ones I made myself. It's a good idea to back up the keyboard (if you change it) and TrackIR and mouse profiles, too, as I've found those messed up several times in the GUI.
  17. Ah, thanks Esac - for reminding me. This has been doing my head in since 1.2.5 I had done this change (not deleted just renamed the RUS and copy the ENG one and rename it to RUS) in 1.2.4 - and promptly forgot all about it. When I updated to 1.2.5, of course the updater replaced the English files with Russian ones - and I was thinking ED had changed the option to have English (thanks to the guys at 159th who should have known that when I was complaining about it and let me suffer!).:joystick: Wot a plonker! Changed back again now... :music_whistling:
  18. Well, I kinda thought it was a bit of a waste of time starting this thread here as mentioned, just for a laugh and a bit of interest in what would come out. Well done - I was right! :P However - thanks to those who went along in the spirit that was intended. No thanks to those who didn't bother to read the whole post in the first place,. Even less thanks to those who simply repeated what others have said, and as for the rest - well, who cares, really? :pilotfly:
  19. Just something I was wondering about last night. This latest patch was 2GB - a previous one was 1GB - with the large amount of modules touted and the proposed new map and any that follow - just how much space are we going to need for DCS World? Will it end up like FSX, where I can easily fill a 200GB hard drive with my add-ons and still not have them all in? It isn't actually an issue for me personally (yet) - I still have 22GB spare on my "Combat Flight Sims" hard drive. But what about people who haven't. Or, they are running it on SSD - which aren't that big at the moment (unless you are Crassus). I read that the entire Hip module is part of the patch, and that is why it is so big. I don't know if that is true, but surely that isn't a good path to go down? Do we need to have a complete module installed every time one is released - even if we have no intention of buying it - just so we can see an AI or player controlled one on a server? Maybe it's about Multiplayer? Are they planning something like Rise of Flight multi-crew aircraft, where you can jump on board as a gunner, without owning the actual aircraft yourself? If so, why don't they say that publicly? Or have they? It's easy to say "hard drives are cheap and SSDs will get bigger/cheaper" or some such - but that would be missing the point. Does the installation really need to be this big? What about the people with rubbish internet. Mine is only 3meg - so a transfer rate of about 330kB/s and I count myself lucky. The bigger the install, the larger the download necessary to reinstall, especially if things go pear-shaped after, say, a bugged patch :music_whistling: What about sim required specs? Make a list (just for kix)... 3Gig CPU, DX11 GPU, 64bit O/S, 8GB RAM and Hard drive space.... oh, ermm... depends on what you put in it! Okay, I'm just joking around - but the point is valid - just how big is this installation going to end up being, even if I never buy another module?
  20. 'fraid not at the moment - but I did see one recently to go back to 1.2.5 either here or at SimHQ. It's a command line you can use, I think - have to ask my old friend, Google for another favour ;) edit: I found it: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3831974/Re_DCS_World_1_2_6_17746_is_Li#Post3831974 can't vouch for the validity, as I haven't used that myself. If it doesn't work, I'll have to see which is the latest version I have - if it's pre-Huey then I'll do without the UH-1 until the problem is sorted.
  21. I have horrendous pauses in the action - for several seconds at a time. Otherwise my framerates are the same as with 1.2.6 - in the 50's. This evening I realised that the Mi-8 is causing this. Every time when it comes into view the stuttering and pausing start. If I switch to a view where the Mi-8 is not onscreen, I get my full, smooth 50+fps. If I use F2 to switch around the aircraft, before showing the Hip, it takes several seconds for the view to be cached, and the stuttering is bad when it is in view - again, when I switch away to the next aircraft the problems stop. This happens in tracks, too. As there doesn't seem to be any acknowledgement of a problem (for a change...) or mention of a fix or update on the way soon, I am going to switch back to 1.2.5 until it's sorted. This issue is completely ruining my enjoyment and I don't even want the durn Hip! Not at $50/£32 anyway.
  22. Weird one, this. Landed in my Su-25A this evening - no damage - half way along the runway I have no steering any more. I manage to get to a taxiway and stop there and instruct the groundcrew to repair the aircraft. they say "Copy" but there is no timer message. After the 'chute is reset and am refuelled and rearmed, I guess aircraft has had long enough to be repaired. The rudder is working just fine, but the front wheel still does not turn. I exit the mission and check the control profile and it is fine. I load up another mission and the steering is good. Mystery
