  1. This whole debacle actually got me thinking about all the modules I have bought for DCS over the years. The core DCS platform is to 95% devloped in Moscow, with a mailbox in Switzerland. We then add a lot of really small teams around the world that develops modules mainly as a part time job... And we trust that they will really deliver the final products after years of development in early access mode. I really like the F15E module but it's far from done...
  2. I can agree with that. More like the cut in my original proposal. But then stretching to UK... It is really not that much land. And I think that too much time in the maps is spent on cities that scares them away from maps like this. Just add rather generic repeating buildings and industrial areas.
  3. It would surprise me a lot if the complete lack of any high fidelity REDFOR modules is for real? ED is a Russian company (with a mailbox/account in a small Swiss town). Almost all the maps like Caucus, Syria etc. are the places where Russia has been fighting recently. So it would surprise me a LOT if there is no Russian military version with good high fidelity modules of Su-27/35s, Su-34s etc... What was the classic included map for Flanker 2.0, LOMAC etc? Crimea... Not any more in the version we are playing at least. And to train it's nice to have high fidelity models of F-15, F-16 and F/A-18s naturally.
  4. Thanks! I was so frustrated that binding a switch to front / back seat did not work... Could swap to back seat fine, but not from the back seat to the front seat after that... But the keyboard 1 worked... Realized after your post that I have to go to the WSO key mappings to set the switch to front seat there...
  5. Wow - thanks! This has been driving me nuts where two ZSU-23s don't show up in my default test mission (naturally bombing poor old Kobuleti). Removed the JAS-39 mod and now they are back again. Odd - as there are no JAS-39s in the mission...
  6. Mmm, finally got the hang of it by making sure to get it trimmed at the right AOA (~22), speed around 170-180 when heavy and the velocity vector at the touch down point (just at the edge of blinking), controlling the glide path with the throttle... And then cut all power, flare rather boldly and full air brake while keeping the nose wheel in the air as long as possible. And then full wheel brakes... But having grown up in Sweden where I have seen many Viggen and Gripen aircraft stop after 400-500 meters on small highways it feels a bit silly The Viggen is fun to land in DCS, but the easiest in my opinion is the F/A-18 on a regular airfield... No problem jerking around with high alpha in some steep turn to bleed off speed, and just slam it down in the end
  7. A great thank you to the team! This mod really works perfect for me in this last iteration. So much work put down - just a bit more work on the systems and it should be sold... But as I looked around, I found no screenshots of the easter egg? I was touring Paris and saw a sandwich stand when I passed under the Eiffel tower. I suddenly felt a rumble in my stomach. Looked around in the compartments for something to eat, and voila... Look beneath the bottom-right corner of the right DDI. p.s. Lucky strike on my first try to go under the Eiffel tower - but the Gripen is nimble Look at right hand view where the cockpit lines align with the Eiffel Tower arch. And the rightmost arch aligns with the cockpit frame. I just paused and looked out of the window towards the sales stands beneath the tower... It looks like a staged screenshot setup, where the Gripen has been merged with the Tower, must look out for angry Rafale's on the way home
  8. Agreed that they had some work still left to do back in the 90:ies, but they gradually improved and that's why they are still in the business But compared to the "on rails" behavior's of the competition in those days, it was a bit of a revolution the first time you tried it. The aircraft suddenly felt like it was flying through air. But - there is a lot of work to be done yet. The current DCS is not even close to handle an Abracadabra with the YAK-52, that I have done in that AC IRL... But that's a pretty out of the normal envelope maneuver Overall, the out of envelope behavior is where most flight sims feel odd to me.
  9. Agreed. Flanker was the first good implementation of high alpha, and it stills fell good to buzz the shores of Crimea with the CH Flightstick Been with it since then...
  10. A bit fun for us that have been along the whole ride. Live, side by side comparison... DCS on Ryzen 7800X3D with an RTX 3080 and Virpil Hotas. vs Flanker 1.5 on a Pentium 166 MMX with a Voodoo 2 and a CH Flightstick. Wrong era monitor though... Usually fly DCS in VR that looks even better.
  11. It's always two weeks. Be sure (tm Oleg M)
  12. Nice comments like above is all we need to do stuff that helps others Updated to original post with a semi updated version. Used the guide myself and it worked, updated the screenshots in chapter 5 but not the others as I am lazy - and they look very much the same in the others...
  13. Every time I do a firmware update of my Virpil gear I have to find my own guide here to map more functions to shift modes, make flip switches behave as I like. I realized as I am sitting with it that this guide still works (for me at least - not unexpected). Is there some guide like this with more stuff? I might update and expand it but I guess that there must be some good summary of the new stuff added etc... The essential part for me in my guide (would be odd if I did not like it) is how to map T4-T6 to shift modes that I use a LOT, and my attempt to explain how it works under the carpet
  14. Mmm - but there where quotes that Heatblur where considering to make the AI model into a full fidelity module later? This was a couple of years ago. Like in: https://stormbirds.blog/2017/11/08/heatblur-bringing-ai-draken-to-dcs/
  15. I just love the AJS 37 and all the good work put down into it. I do however remember talk about the J 35 Draken as well? That would be a nice companion (or naturally the JA 37 - even though I guess the systems being more complex than in the AJS makes it hard)... Two J 35 on an exercise back in the days, adhering to the Swedish tradition of flying low...
