  1. I don't agree with this OP's impression that was stated. It's not like there are no other flight simulators or programs that probably fit the stated desires and I have never been impressed by the notion's of people who are going to "take their ball and go home" especially, if they can drag a lot of players with them. We all have volition and most do not try to influence others. Or maybe my impression of the OP's intent is completely "misunderstood".

You can see it however you want and they may have said something about early autumn but that's beside the point (and I'd love to be proven wrong if you can do so...).  What actually happened is that Wags mentioned that it was actually flyable in a video and the community came unhinged demanding that it be released right now (Not pointing the finger at you...  not sure why you're taking this personally) and that they would surely not complain about the state of the module until the Hornet was in a good place.  They "understand it's EA and the Hornet comes first etc etc...".  So ED decided to let it fly.  I agree whole heartedly that they shouldn't have...  but the community was very vocal about it especially since people had paid for it already and it was "flyable".  Well...  we all know now that it was indeed "flyable" and that was about it.

I'm not attempting to exonerate ED from mistakes they made.  Don't get this twisted :).  I'm only saying that ED did NOT plan to release the Viper the way it happened from the beginning.  They planned on getting it further along (and you know even if they did mention autumn...  they would have pushed that back...  I mean seriously) before any EA took place.  By EA I don't mean early purchase...  I mean early "access".

I get tired of hearing people say BS and throw ED under the bus when what REALLY happened is ED made a mistake and did what the community asked for.  Then the community turned on them.  Both the Viper and Hornet folks, but for different reasons.

If you feel some details are off in my understanding...  that's great...  but the overall arc of the story...  spot on sir.  Spot on.  That's what happened.

This is an "age-old" scenario.... damned if you do and damned if you don't. It's always the same. Do one thing and you should've done it the other way. Nothing ever changes. Never can everyone be happy.

Apologies if this is a repeat comment but it seems to me the pilot size in the A-4 module is too small for the aircraft.  Here is the DCS pilot compared with an actual group of pilots for comparison:

But if you notice, the pilots in lower picture are all sitting up straight, not laid back in seat like your top example pic.

  4. I'd have to say MI-24, it's honestly got the feel of weight that it should have. It's monstrous and if you learn to fly it, you feel that you've accomplished something. Just hovering around the pad is satisfying. I've got them all and I just simply fell in love with the 24.

  5. You stated that you, yourself, had troubles in the past running multiple versions. So that might continue for you. I have run (quite a while ago) 3 versions and all had there own save game folders. From memory I remember having to do some editing in the registry. (something about each install being named beta, release and stable)

Okay guys I think I have it fixed now. All sounds should now be working and all sdef files are present.

I also changed the format to a zip file for those who do not use 7zip. Check the 1st page for updated link.

I'm becoming confused here, I've been using 7zip for years to unzip .zip files. Whats the cryptic meaning of the 7zip conspiracy?

  7. I remember the 1st version of this. It worked fine for me. this version and the last one does not work for me at all, isn't even recognized by DCS openbeta. Nothing has been blocked (someone mentioned the .dll being blocked) I've got the Edge 540 working (in saved games folder) and have use the Community A4 in the past. Guess I'll have to wait for another advancing version.

  8. This is remarkable, roll rate is "dizzyfying". So far, for me, takeoff without cheating is a toss up. I can't bear to Boost seat way up or zoom way out to see runway. Thankfully, as of yet, damage is relaxed. I can't see anyone complaining about sense of speed in this thing. Thanks for letting us take a gander at it!

  9. Whilst I REALLY shouldn't rise to the bait...I can't leave this one hanging...

It being Condition based ISN'T set in stone is it? Its NOT the way things HAVE to be...When BN says ED CAN'T release a patch for the Stable branch until they're happy about the performance of 2.5.6.xxx...It ISN'T a law of nature is it? Its not immutable...all they mean is "we don't CHOOSE to do any additional work on the stable branch - to incorporate any bug fixes or pre-existing third party content because we'd rather allocate development resources to the OB 2.5.6.xxx branch"

They could quite happily turn around and say...you know what...not been alot happening with stable for a very long time, that's the bulk of our customer base...we'll throw a bit of resource their way and prepare an out of sequence stable update that includes non-version specific updates (IE; .miz files/documentation etc) and 3rd party content that was prepared for 2.5.5.xxx release (IE: the JF17 as it existed in OB 2.5.5.4196)

They CHOOSE not to because they don't consider it a worthwhile allocation of resources...despite users on the stable branch being by far the bulk of the user base...and I can't help but feel that part of the reason it's not considered worthwhile is because for every voice that says..."hey ED, an update to stable aftyer 6 months would be nice" there's half a dozen white knights who'll say "don't worry...6 months for some bug fixes is de-rigour in software suites costing hundreds and hundreds of dollars...nobody minds...its really no big deal" whilst elsewhere people are moaning "OMFG...outrageous...OB not had a D/L fix for the F16 for two weeks what the hell is going on"

Jason, you could just un-install all things DCS and then, apparently, your life would be so much more enjoyable. Just a polite suggestion, I don't wish to see anyone misereable.:(
