I have this same issue as well. -
AIM-54 Hotfix PSA and Feedback Thread - Guided Discussion
Ikaros replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
That is informative. Thanks. Thanks for taking the time to write all that and replying to me. I understand these things. I get kills with the Phoenix in STT and PAL mode, that isn't the issue. I don't expect kills 9/10 times. I just haven't been able to get a kill in TWS against human opponents after expending hundreds of missiles at them in particular. That is my primary issue and I don't know if it is because something is broken. I'm not exaggerating either. I've fired hundreds of Phoenixes in TWS against human opponents and none have hit. My radar doesn't indicate that the track has been dropped either so I'm at a loss as to what is happening. I understand the missile can be notched, but it can be notched in STT and PAL as well, right? I still manage to shoot down people from time to time with those modes regardless though. -

What is up with TWS shots not working at that range or less either in multiplayer against others players though? I'm missing shots at 25nm, let alone longer ranges. I have yet to have one missile connect using TWS in multiplayer. I know I'm beating a dead horse here but what else am I supposed to do? I also have some questions about how the Iranians got a lot of their kills with these missiles as well if this is the accurate model. There is a famous incident of a 3 ship of Mig-23's that were shot down while flying in formation with each other using a phoenix missile. Wouldn't the shot have to have been done in TWS to give as little warning as possible or did the Migs have no RWR? I would find it very strange that they were getting lit up in STT for some time with a working RWR and just sail mindlessly into missile fire without making any attempt to evade. Of course, there could be something I'm not taking into account here but I'm just trying to figure out what is wrong. -

Well I noticed tonight when I fired in TWS at other players my Phoenixes would climb steeply to 120,000 feet and then dive near the target area running out of speed and having no energy to do anything. At least that's what I've been able to notice so far. -

Hey Mike, thanks for taking the time to investigate. I did manage to get a few kills in PAL mode over the past couple of days so that is working at least. I need to update my old post where I said it wasn't working. The majority of the over 100 Phoenixes I fired beforehand were in TWS auto though. I don't know what's going wrong there for me but they just won't connect. Obviously other players can defeat them but it seems weird I didn't down at least one aircraft. I support the missiles until they become pitbull (16 seconds or less?) as well. -
I came across the Top Guns that were added in the new hot fix update and I thought it was a nice little stealthy addition. I'm going to see the movie tomorrow and I hope there is some F-14 action in it.

The problem is.... it doesn't hit 100% of the time in multiplayer for me. I've fired over 100 this past week while using TWS auto in the Growling Sidewinder server and not even 1 hit. -

Another 4 hours in multiplayer with me unable to hit a single target with the AIM-54. TWS Auto, STT, didn't even matter. I couldn't even survive long enough to get to the merge to use an AIM-7. I remember being able to destroy other players at 40/50 miles over a year ago. -

I just came back to the F-14 after a year break or so flying other modules and I found all missiles on it to be useless in multiplayer. I flew around for 4 hours on the Growling Sidewinder server and couldn't shoot 1 plane down with either the AIM-54 or AIM-7. I used to be able to get kills relatively easy with it a year or more ago though. I think I saw some 5 other F-14's on the server with no kills either. -
I hate to be that guy but technically that's an IAI Nesher aka "Dagger" in Argentine service. It's more similar to the Mirage V than the III model.

Now that we're about to have a WW2 2-eng frontline bomber...
Ikaros replied to WarbossPetross's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Range doesn't matter. I hate how that gets brought up all the time. You can flip that argument so many different ways. Imagine if we lived in alternate reality where the first module released wasn't the Blackshark but people on the forums said, "We don't need helicopters because the Caucasus map is too big compared to the range of most helicopters." While I love the realism of the flight models and systems in DCS and that's why I buy these modules to begin with, if I want to fly a B-52 module to a target 75 miles away or closer from where I took off from that's fine as far as I'm concerned. Most people do not have the time, energy, or interest to do a live action roleplaying 8 hour bombing mission. That doesn't mean we shouldn't have a B-52 or other bomber modules though. It's a sandbox simulation. P.S. - There has been B-52's at Red Flag in the past. What do you think the range and flight time for those B-52 missions was? -
The Spitfire MK IX was used by the Soviets...

I don't understand why anyone would say no. I just used it for the first time in another game and the performance improvement is jaw dropping.

I'm all for it, but not as a paid module....

Any chance for a Yak-38 in the future after MiG-29?

Cuban Ace isn't a 3rd party. -
I would definitely buy those. Where did you see those teasers at? I want to check that out.

Can't use JF-17 as any other country in mission editor
Ikaros replied to Ikaros's topic in JF-17 Thunder
That was it, it had slipped my mind. Thanks. -
For some reason I can't select the JF-17 for any other country than Pakistan. Did I miss something? I remember being able to use it as the USA, Russia, China, etc for a long time.

Well I was hoping you would infer it could be a one off example or they just attached it to the pylon as a prop for looks. I mean we are talking about an aircraft in a testing unit. It certainly wouldn't meet Eagle Dynamics threshold for adding things if it is/was a functioning Igla, that's for sure. I certainly don't know, I just did a reverse image search of the picture you posted, went to the Wikipedia page it's from, read what was in the caption, and made my own conclusions.

That picture was taken 21 years ago at NAS Fallon in Nevada. That HIND was from the US Army Test and Evaluation Center and participating in a joint Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) exercise as a simulated hostile threat.

Two things: 1. Hardware controls make a big difference. When I first started using DCS I was using the cheap Logitech 30$ joystick that has been around for ages and helicopters were basically unflyable. Switching to a Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas with rudder pedals helped immensely and I fly them with mostly no issues now. 2. Helicopters are not like airplanes. In real life and in DCS you have to use very gentle inputs on the stick. You do not make large pitch and roll inputs like you would in an airplane.

Figured I'd do some heavy lifting in this thread. I tried to include every country but it's hard to find good pics of the Egyptian birds and it's hard to find a Saudi AH-64 picture where the entire aircraft is visible in one single picture.
