  1. I would like to try a few profiles for my T16000M FCS that others have made but I have no idea how to use the .diff.lua files that are in peoples .zip files... How do I use them?
  2. That's a good answer, thanks for that. Yep INS guided..that's kind of how I imagined it to work. Its guess work then. So how does the bomb guide it's self to the designated target point, does it have steering fins like a guided bomb or does the skeat dispensers try to go the that designated area or deploy their skeats to the designated point?
  3. I was wondering how best to deploy a CBU 105, the GPS guided anti armor cluster munition against a moving convoy. I have been putting my targeting pod into point track and designating a point on the road a good way ahead of the moving convoy so hopefully they will arrive under where it deploys its payload of skeats. It seems to work but its a bit hit and miss just guessing where the convoy will be in 15 to 20 seconds time. However is there a better way like using point track to lock onto a moving vehicle so that so the calculated release point with other cluster munitions or where the system guides the bomb to with the CBU 105 will be the best place to drops its skeats? How best to use cluster weapons and the CBU 105 against moving targets?
  4. Thanks for the reply! Actually I have JUST figured it out and I was going to type how I did it. I used a sequence too, the first press it is a PRESS WWWWWWWWWWWWW command then the 2nd press is Release W which stops it. It works a treat!
  5. Thanks for the info, nope I didn't tick that box. That's probably why it isn't working. Actually I have now got the microstick on the throttle slewing it about very nicely, at the loss of the toe brake axes (currently) but they aren't needed anyway. I also now have black-white hot on the mini stick's clicker and laze target with camera zoom on the throttles up-down finger switch. Usually I get into a hover before shooting but last night I was doing one of the Dixmund campaign missions and it required a shot while moving. However as we were so high up in the mountains I might not have had much power and lift to hover and I couldn't get the weapons up and ready to fire fast enough!!!! A nice little feature of some very skilled mission design! I got Meatboy to take the shot instead.
  6. I am trying to set up my new TM T16000M FCS for the Gazelle. So far it is going OK I have most stuff working now. I have zoom view on the throttle rotary, reset view and cam on buttons, trim on the stick hat the autopilot controls on the stick buttons and view panning via a hat on the throttle using the numpad keys...However... I can't seem to be able to operate the targeting video camera using the joystick. I can get it to pan about using the slew commands via a hat, which is OK but its too clunky for guiding missiles onto moving targets. I want to use the joystick. I know its supposed to work like that and it did with my cougar. I can also move the targ cam using the stick if I map the joystick axis onto the slew controls in game but the helicopter moves too when I move the cam as they are shared axes. Can anybody suggest why it isn't working and how I can get it working??
  7. I have just bought the TM T16000 FCS (rudder throttle and stick) to replace my beloved Cougar. I am pretty good at programming the cougar so I am not a total noob to HOTAS programming but....... I am a noob using Target. I think I have now got it all working OK and I have managed to make some of the buttons generate characters for Arma as they should. Its pretty simple stuff I am trying to do right now and I am sure I will have loads more questions as I get into it over the next few weeks. Right now I want to make one of the buttons on the throttle on first press start pumping out WWWWWWWWWWWW's. Then on the second press stop producing the W character. In Arma this will make the character run. I want it to act like a run on/off button. If you play Arma you will know that most of the time its a cross-country running simulator so being able to free up my left middle finger is a great boon. I used to have this on a switch on my Cougar throttle. Click it on and the character runs until I switch it back again. The TWCS throttle has no latching switch. How do I do this? So that on first Push of the button Target pumps out W's until I press it again??
  8. My poor old Cougar isn't very well these days. This is what is wrong with it: The pitch axis on the stick is getting very hard to calibrate and jumps around quite a bit. Probably needs a new POT. The roll axis is just starting to get a little glitchy too. The microstick on the throttle is terribly hard to calibrate and is almost un-useable. Probably needs new POTS/replacing and they are very out of stock. The friction wheel on the throttle hardly works now. The play on the stick is considerable. I have read about the 3D printed gimbal mod and the mag sensors thing...That is quite tempting to try. However I really don't want to mess up my Cougar and get backed into a corner with a dead HOTAS. It does look quite tricky to do this mod. Any solution for the microstick issue? Any other suggestions as to what I should do? VKB and VirPil are different companies aren't they? I like the look of their gear, perhaps I could drop some cash on their equipment, no idea what to get or how much it would cost me....no prices on VirPil gear on their web site that I can see and the VKB site isn't so great either.... I am reluctant to buy a Warthog as I have read about them having issues too and the price......wooo. I wonder if Thrustmaster have a new thing coming out soon to replace the warthog as their highend offering?.....:joystick: Their cheaper sticks look very plasticky and I think I might be disappointed after the flexibility of the Cougar..... I dunno....
  9. I am still looking for a new HOTAS, my cougar is a year older and is really showing its age now. I wonder if anything new has developed that I could consider after another year has passed?
  10. Thanks for all the very interesting information everybody. I will have more of a look at all this in the coming days. I agree that cheap and good don't really go together. Actually I wouldn't mind spending a few quid on a really good HOTAS setup. After having my Cougar I will never go back to anything less capable. However one of these days my trusty Cougar is going to break down and it might be hard to fix so I need to plan for my next set up. I also need to have a proper read of this forum :-)
  11. I am wondering what is available in the way of HOTAS systems that would be classed as high end controllers that aren't made by Thrustmaster. They would need to be programmable and at least as good as the Cougar or Warthog. A Chinese clone type thing perhaps. I am sure I have read stuff about open source HOTAS set ups and boutique mods for the Cougar but I am wondering if there is a relatively easy to use software interface that can talk to hardware that might be avail as components or in kit form, like building a 3D printer. The idea of building my own HOTAS does appeal to me as a long term project. I am not quite sure what I am getting at here, its partly about the high price of Thrustmaster hardware and perhaps saving a few creds. However I am also thinking about how great it would be if I could build my own HOTAS without having to get deep into the regions of programming and machine code logic and stuff.... Perhaps a few links to information related to this area would be helpful. It would be good to get a better picture of the current state of play with regards to HOTAS tech.
  12. Follow the link below for a joystick and macro file for the Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS using FOXY for the DCS Gazelle module. I think its pretty good and most of the aircraft's important features are on the sticks and fairly close to where they should be in the real aircraft. Features include: Hat 1 as trimmer, landing lights on/off/extend/retract/auto pilot toggle on/off/auto-collective on/off, hover hold on/off Flare release, slave toggle, lase/fire on the trigger, view zoom in/out, microstick as free look and hat 2 as targeting camera panning, blackhot/whitehot/normal/IR/centering/zoomin/zoomout. https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=161425&d=1493383029
  13. I have been doing mission two of the Dixmude campaign and I finally managed it after going back to re-arm about 6 times:huh: I just could not get that posh Etonian dipstick Meatboy1 to attack anything. How are you supposed to make him shoot anything? I don't get it. :helpsmilie:
  14. I have now done a macro (.tmm) and joystick (.tmj) file for the Cougar HOTAS. I thinks its pretty good and most of the Gazelle's functions work from the stick. It does need a few tweaks and more features added but all the hard work is done. The macro file requires that the spaces are removed in front of the macro name and after the = sign...something like that, it is a little broken in its formatting but it works fine. I have read that there is some script that can be added to give a lot more key bindings in the game and I will look into this soon. 15. That's really helpful, I still haven't tried Target but it sounds interesting and worth having a look at. I have been making a profile for my Cougar over the weekend and putting some time in with the Gazelle and I have the fundamental things working now. Its a work in progress. Every time I go to program my Cougar its like I am starting from scratch again. One thing, when the Xcel conversion thing is done there is lots of weird spacing in the generated macro text that needs editing to make it work right but otherwise it was super-helpful. I am wondering what those {} brackets are?? They seem to have no function and the macro works with or without them I will post the edited macro file and my joystick file as soon as I can.
