  1. I am relatively new to DCS and have some older and new controls and my commands are not sticking when opening to fly the Spitfire. One annoying problem is that i have 2 Saitek throttle quadrants and one is set up with my throttle and prop pitch (RPM) and my Z axis is not usable as Mixture is either on or off and I have had to delete all commands in my 2nd quadrant ( or unplug it) and I have Saitek pro Combat Pedals and a Saitek Cessna trim wheel. I also have a new TotalCondttton Box with many options for selections. I also fly spitfires in MSFX STEAM and MSFS2020 with no problems. I do save my commands upon entering them but the profile does not necessarily select the moat recent settings and as mentioned previously sometimes confused controllers. I have looked at the on line tutorials and most are concerned with making the command selections ( buttons and Axis etc) and not much about the profiles that are saved for each controller and I had assumed that the latest would be called up when opening DCS to fly. I only fly the Spitfire at this point so it should not be so difficult but it is preventing me from flying consistently if at all. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks, flash22
  2. Spitfire Airspeed Gauge Needle Deficiency I find the needle of the Airspeed Gauge in the Spitfire too thin to read readily and it is an important gauge in flying the plane successfully. Just checked your Spitfire MK IX manual and the needle in your plane does not match the manual. It is much wider in the manual and easier to see in all lighting conditions. I have also flown in the real Boultbee MK IX at Goodwood in England and found that real Gauge to be quite readable. Note also the same gauge in the Boultbee Simulator at Goodwood which is a Mk IX, (See link below) I also note that the gauge in the ILS-2 Spitfire to be more realistic and readily read. Any chance of fixing it? Thanks, John https://www.google.com/search? q=Boultbee+Spitfire+flight+simulator+cockpit+dashboard&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=Rzzm-HjnpLd8lM%253A%252CTR3zPvx-QyEAfM%252C_&vet=1&usg=AI4_-kRgGu7lJRs1HjHmLsh3W3HzleZ56A&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjLhdySoKfpAhUCm-AKHTrODyAQ9QEwDXoECAMQBw#imgrc=qMLCN7pBLG392M&imgdii=aL3u-u3Bi-PhZM PS I sent this note to the Technical support section of DCS and received a note that said they had their own stable of planes to use a sources but obviously the got this one wrong.
  3. OK thanks, I guess I will stop pursuing this topic on DCS. wonder if the work on IlS-2 spitfly
  4. All above Saitek controllers work perfectly as well as my Ch fighter stick. The only thing not working are my Saitek FIP's and from what I have found on DCS they do not work. Spitfly
  5. I have 11 individual Saitek Pro Flight Instrument Panels in my simulator each operating identically to the Spitfire instrument panel (see attachment). These are presently operating on SPAD.next software in MSFX Steam on A2A planes ( Spitfires and North American T-6 ) and the Ant's Tiger Moth Pro, and are configured for each plane in SPAD Profiles which are readily selected for each respective plane once set up. I find the external FIP's easily viewed while flying without having to pan to each instrument internal to the cockpit and also allows me to fly controllably even doing aerobatics while flying the plane from an external view. F2 or F3 in DCS. My instrument dial software is presently provided by Saitek operating in Sim Connect I believe and also from FSXtimes and FIPGauges and some are specifically designed for me, An example is the the Spitfire Boost Gauge operating off of A2A Lvars available from FSXtimes. Spad.neXt does not operate in DCS world and I have searched the DCS forum repeatedly and inquired of DCS technical team and Saitek and have not found any information or software that would allow my Saitek FIPS to operate. DCS technical team suggests that I inquire here to see if any developers can shed some light on this. There is stuff out there for Backlit Saitek panels but these are lights that indicate which functions are on. There is also software that allows the cockpit instruments to be displayed on an I Pad or tablet. So far I have found nothing on operating the individual Saitek FIPs except on lead that operated on a single FIP and it appeared problematic in operation. I am a user and not a software developer or software/computer savy and would appreciate any input and interest in developing the necessary software to incorporate Saitek Pro Flight Instruments into DCS and specifically for the Spitfire. I have talked to Ulrich who runs SPAD.neXT and he confirms that it does not work in DCS and so far I haven't seen any indication that he would be making it happen in the near term as he is a one man show. I wonder if there is anyone out there who could either independently develop the necessary software for the Saitek FIP's (Saitek does not appear to be interested) or work with Ulrich to bring SPAD.neXt or equivalent into DCS. He can be contacted at support@spadnext.com Thank you for any responses to further my efforts. John ps I have tried to include a picture of my Spitfire Simulator set up to this note without success previously and will try again. Also my 2 Saitek Throttle quadrants, Cessna Trim Wheel , Combat rudder pedals, and CH fighter Stick are working in DCS flawlessly.

  7. Thanks for the responses. I tested with the fuel pump on and off and the Fuel Cutoff Aft kills the engine operating from idle and also from 2000 rpm. Pushing it forward keeps the engine going even while it is sputtering to stop from the aft position. Thanks again Spitfly,
  8. Page 135 of the detailed Spitfire MK IX Manual says to pull the Idle cutoff control Aft after engine warm up! Is this correct? Spitfly
  9. False alarm - Replying to my own message! - All controls set up and working after computer turned off and on. I now remember that I downloaded the Caucus Scenery after setting up my controls initially. Might this have caused the loss? thanks John
  10. I have just downloaded the trial free versions of DCS World and the Spitfire Mk 1V and set up my CH Fighter Stick, Saitek Combat Pedals, 2 Saitek Throttle Quadrants including 6 buttons each and the Saitek Cessna trim wheel. All were recognized in the set up and readily programmed. This was all done in the Cold Start so I could access the plane to test each control while loading and all worked. Upon opening DCS world this AM all control settings were gone except those few I set up on the CH fighter stick. Other than clicking on OK to establish each control setting I did not see any other command for saving. I even turned DCS World off to test the controls sticking but did not turn off my computer. For test purposes I just established one control of the Saitek Throttle quadrant and closed DCW world and turned off my computer and that command stuck and worked!! Did I do something wrong in previous set up to lose all? Also nothing showed up in control settings to activate any of my Saitek FIPS. They are set up in SPAd.neXt so did not expect them to work but is there any thought of incorporating SPAD.neXt of equivalent in the future for external gauges to operate? This facilitates flying without changing the view to the dashboard and allows one to fly external to the cockpit viewing from outside the plane. Any suggestions would me much appreciated! Thanks. Saitek FIPs

Thank you for the input. I am not yet on DCS but interested and investigating and if and when I do get involved I would like to use my present simulator set up. For the immediate future this is a rainy day or evening exercise ( Sailing Season beginning) so I not sure if and when I could give you any feedback. I appreciate you response and hope to investigate further. Thank you again, John

    Saitek FIPs

    Thanks, Will try to ask!
  13. Thanks for the input. I will give it a try.

    Saitek FIPs

Do the Saitek FIP's operate in DCS? I presently have 9 Saitek FIP's in my Spitfire Simulator duplicating cockpit Gauges All are operating off of SPAD.NeXT software which does not presently function in DCS. Is there software in DCS which allows me to display these Gauges on my Flight Instrument Panels? These Gauges are a combination of software from Saitek, fipgauges.Com and FSXTimes
