  1. i toss GBUs using CCIP...get nearly another 2NM if you are around 20,000ft and pull to 40ish degrees out of the dive. altitude is important so that you can maintain laser lock, but you can get very crazy on the angles and approaches if you have someone else providing the laser. have even ripple released several with an AFAC serving as laser and all track quite well.
  2. downloaded and seeding...part of the problem was file availability...so would go from 2mb/s to 40kb/s on the DL...so help seed for others! 2GB uploaded from me already...and counting!
  3. i have seen the future! DCS: EA-18G Growler! http://planenews.com/archives/17052 seriously...i think by 2075 that plane should be 95% de-classified...right?
  4. remember when we in the USA used to make that plane...you know back in the bad ol' days?
  5. few strange issues with my 5850 in eyefinity in terms of performance drop...i need to test more and make a few changes in CCC. *update: frame rates with 11.1 were literally horrible...rolled back to 10.1 and insta 30fps+
  6. Thrustmaster would qualify as 'games' i should think...
  7. Fantastic! I would love to check out the Thrustmaster.
  8. XBOX was announced at CES iirc...tons of gaming peripherals and displays etc...it would not be odd for ED to be at CES.
  9. Just wanted to see if DCS or ED would have a booth at CES...I am lucky enough to get to go this year and would like to stop by if you guys do. Anyone else going to CES? Maybe get together for a drink! Zangler
  10. :joystick: http://aviation-safety.net/news/newsitem.php?id=2335 :pilotfly: seriously...glad no one was hurt so i can :megalol: rather than be :(
  11. yeah...IR software working perfectly and if i switch over to a-10...again perfect.
  12. i searched and could not find a solution to my particular problem. I am running win7 64bit and just got trackir 5 yesterday since it now works with a10c 64bit...which is does perfectly... so i thought i would fire up ka50 and see what that is like...both lights come on and in the tir 5 software it says it is recognizing dcsBS so all looks good...but in the game there is no response. settings show trackir 5 in the axis as i think it should (did not touch them) but just seems strange since everything looks like it should be green for go on tir5 and dcs BS.... any ideas?
  13. i was watching this snippet from the show called Future Weapons and he talks about the new targeting system on the A-10C and (not trying to put much stock in a television show) says it can "...launch guided weapons from 30,000ft at 15mi away." he attributes this to the infrared targeting system. are these numbers accurate, or more representative of the theoretical? and if the latter...what would be a more probabilistic alt/range for jdam delivery? for the sake of the thread, please keep responses to information with some factual basis or RL experience, rather than the "i think that..." type stuff. thanks!
  14. great mission man...looking forward to the next one!
  15. i did exactly this in the KA-50...did not read a thing...study anything...etc (including producer notes)...i just wanted to see if i could start the prepped KA-50...i managed the APU and some of the systems...but other than that...after a good hour...nadda. i love thinking back to that now.
  16. sorry if i am late to the party...but in the 'posting' mood i suppose. my experience was somewhat reversed than others with real flying and sim. i am just now 29 and started flying when i was 13. my first landing attempt resulted in overflying the length of the runway at an altitude of 50ft or so. my second (same day but home field) was successful. i had done my ground-school and knew my patterns and procedures, and remembered that i had MS flightsim, but had not yet installed it. so i went home, loaded her up and started practicing. the next lesson (usually did 1/week) i was lining up a million times better and was having no problem with approaches or landings. my instructor was pretty impressed and i told him i practiced at home. then he and i discussed how we both felt that real life was easier than the sim because we could 'feel' what the plane was doing. i think learning VFR properly first with reference points and so forth, really makes a sim an even more valuable tool...since you then get the added bonus of you 'butt in the seat' as the extra instrument you lack in a sim. i think after enough hours, ground crew support, etc...i could start-taxi-take-off-fly-land without killing myself. every a-10 pilot i have ever spoken to said they are a dream to fly and are very stick and rudder and responsive to the pilot. i do not think this applies to fighter aircraft or anything that barely has a wing in comparison! however, assuming the 'just a sim' thing, or 'it is not really accurate, of course!' mentality is only true if you do not accurately apply flight training and skills to it. if you do, you most certainly can increase your knowledge materially. one other note: myself, along with other RL pilots (commercial and transport military) talk about the accuracy of the flight model of the SU-25t in FC2. naturally none of the gizmo's, systems and sub-systems are very detailed...but in terms of the flight characteristics...we are all impressed and it is a real joy to fly...imo...if you want to prepare a bit for DCS a-10...that is your plane.
  17. binos would be great in the a-10a as in FC2...im always complaining about that lack of standard issue equipment. in the a-10c though perhaps they are less used.
  18. i have never used FD since it is not mapped to my stick and is 'far away'... simply by holding the trim i have been able to perform some pretty hair raising maneuvers to save my bird but then can release trim at desired heading to focus on the fight...the only AP i rarely use is the Alt-AP...once i started turning that off i can hardly think of a time i have ever 'fought' my chopper.
  19. nevermind...missed the part where i add those lines to the file...
  20. for people like me that use 3 monitors...subtitles are broken...so this is not really a tenable option... im guessing there is a huge list of things people would suggest be changed before 'force a language onto players even though a lot of them dont speak it mode' got mentioned...
  21. look forward to flying with you guys...late night CST guy here.
  22. honestly the best thing you can do is take the advice you have been given...but don't give up. i am pretty sure that everyone here at some point felt there is no way they could learn to start the damn thing...much less fly it...until one day you realize you can manually start it faster than the auto start. honestly...i bought and have played FC2...but after finally getting good with BS...everything else feels a lot less rewarding. i cant wait for A10.
  23. sounds like a cool mission...can anyone that has it share the link?
