I'm using the following in my ATIS script local weather = env.mission.weather local cloudCover = api.TUC.GetCloudCoverAsString(false) local cloudBase = api.TUC.MetresToFeet(weather.clouds.base) local thickness = api.TUC.MetresToFeet(weather.clouds.thickness) local visibility = weather.visibility.distance local fogThickness = api.TUC.MetresToFeet(weather.fog.thickness) local fogVisibility = weather.fog.visibility local dustDensity = api.TUC.MetresToFeet(weather.dust_density) Everything looks okay except that the THICKNESS which I'm led to believe from the documentation on hoggitworld is for the lowest cloudbase, ALWAYS reports the same amount of 656ft, regardless of the weather preset used and how thick the cloudbase is to fly through. Am I using this correctly or is this a bug? Cross posted in the Weather System bug list just in case it's not a scripting error.

I'm experiencing shifting clouds when banking, pitching, etc. The only time I don't see the clouds shifting, moving up and down, is only during straight, level flight and not looking around. I'd post my settings but it won't matter as I have tried every setting that I can think of that would affect the clouds. Even DLSS, DLAA, etc. has no effect. Is this a thing in DCS that others are experiencing?

Howdy folks, I created a new weather mod to give us a little more variety in what we have currently. Hopefully you enjoy this while we wait for ED to give us a proper update to the weather system. This Weather mod includes the following features: 38 new weather presets for scattered showers, overcast/rain, stratus clouds, cumulus clouds, altostratus and altocumulus clouds. Cloud base altitude and thickness limits increased for all presets Fog visibility and thickness limits increased so you can create hazy atmosphere affects Six new density settings tweaked for scattered and isolated thunderstorms Rain and Thunderstorms precipitation now available for all cloud density settings Installation: Recommended: Use OvGME or other mod manager and install to DCS root directory. Make a backup if installing manually! To create thunderstorms: 1.) Select NOTHING from the Clouds Preset menu 2.) Configure the base altitude as desired 3.) Adjust the thickness to something between 15000-30000ft 4.) You can choose any density setting but I added six new ones. Density 11 - 16 are tweaked for thunderstorms 5.) Choose Thunderstorm or Rain from the Precptns option 6.) I recommend adding a lot of wind and turbulence as well 7.) Experiment with settings to get the look you want and enjoy! Download: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3335023/ 2/24/2024 - Update to version 7 - NEW cirrus cloud textures - Cirrus clouds now move and can be seen moving - Cirrus clouds don't fade in and out any longer. They don't change for 24 hours - Tuning and tweaks to several presets - Updated config files for compatibility with DCS 2.9.3.51704 **The cirrus cloud behavior and appearance are drastically changed in this update. There are 4 cirrus cloud textures and they usually are blended with each other, creating a variety of different looking skies. After loading a mission, if you want to change the look of the cirrus clouds simply re-load the mission by pressing SHIFT-R. Sometimes changing the date and/or time in the mission editor changes up the cirrus also. If you want to turn off cirrus clouds completely you can edit \Bazar\shaders\enlight\cirrus.fx in the MOD folder. Change line 36 in that file to: static const float cirrusThickness = 0; Make sure to disable/re-enable the mod in OVGME after making the change. If you think the new cirrus sucks and you want to go back to default delete the following files from the MOD folder and disable/re-enable in OVGME: \Bazar\shaders\enlight\cirrus.fx \Bazar\Effects\EffectTextures.zip Enjoy! 1/27/2024 - Updated to version 6 - Fixed small issues in several presets - Reworked "Scattered Showers 5" preset. Looks much better now - Minor adjustments to "Low Level Stratus 5" and "Nimbostratus with heavy rain". Clouds have a slightly softer look now. 1/24/2024 - Updated to version 5 - High level cirro clouds are back with cirrostratus and cirrocumulus presets! - 10 new cloud presets added - Many tweaks and adjustments to existing presets 1/11/2024 - Updated to version 4 - 2 new stratus cloud presets added - 3 new altostratus cloud presets added - 3 new altocumulus clouds presets added - Re-enabled default cirrus layer and lowered opacity. 1/9/2024 - Weather mod v3 update changes: - 5 new presets added - 2 new cloud types, cirrus and altostratus - Improved stratus cloud presets - Added preview thumbnails for all weather mod presets - Disabled default cirrus layer - Adjusted base altitude settings for all mod presets 1/6/2024 - Weather mod v2 update changes: -Reverted "Broken 2" preset back to default setting -Added 13 new presets! New presets include new overcast/rainy, scattered cumulus and low level stratus clouds. Make sure to adjust your cloud base height as needed with the new presets. The Scattered cumulus look best at low to mid level (2000 - 15000ft). Their base height dramatically changes the look. Status should be se t with base height very low (0 - 3000ft).

Hello, It's all in the title, after posting a dozens of times to report that massive issue, the issue is STILL THERE after MONTHS of patch. I already sent dozens of tracks and screenshot showing the issue, this is not reported because people don't pay attention but I got this issue on 75% of my flights and when I have the issue EVERYONE in the lobby have it too. I have a RTX 3080, tried dozens of drivers, reinstalled windows 2 times, reinstalled DCS, changed every DCS settings. One of the last screenshots was taken in December of 2022!! 4YA_Cau_PVE2_V2.46[JAN_FEW]-20230422-141815.trk 4YA_Cau_PVE2_V2.46[JAN_FEW]-20230422-141655.trk options.lua

When there is a very important layer of cloud with only a few openings that let the light through... The rendering is quite strange seen from below. Ex: Screenshot below On those screenshot, if we look quickly, we have the illusion of having a clear blue sky with a few white clouds (this illusion is considerably reinforced if the quality of the shadows on the ground is reduced)... Then we actually realize that what we took for a blue sky is actually the underside of 'a thick layer of clouds, and what we thought was a white cloud is actually the opening to the sky. I think this illusion of inversion between the sky and the clouds is due to the fact that there is almost no texture on the underside of the clouds when they are in the dark, giving us the impression that there it's a blue sky. I don't think it would take much to break this illusion (A different management of shaders or occlusion, better textures, a less dense "blue fog", more contrast, that the underside of the clouds appears to us more "white" to look less like a blue sky... The solutions are not lacking! Currently, thick clouds are very beautiful and detailed from above, but not great with not much detail from below. Example : Contrast and small details remove any ambiguity

Hello Whishlist , I'd wish the colors to be having less color cast in general (I hope it's correctly been translated from google, in german: "Farbstich"). Meaning, that there is way to much over all blue, independet from distance, colored over the whole screen. Of course, for distant objects on ground, it makes perfectly sense, but espacially for near clouds, where you have less dust or humidity, it looks to intense. Also, it reduces the contrast too much for the clouds. To make the thing more clear, of what I mean, I just edited two screenshots in Photoshop. Flying in real life is not my every day business (sadly) - maybe I am wrong and it looks more often like the original image. So feel free to correct me if this is the case.

So I'm an individual that plays almost exclusively single-player. I have horrific anxiety on Multiplayer games so needless to say the Mission Editor and I are very intimate. With version prior to 2.7, controlling the weather was pretty straight forward. Wind direction, cloud density, cloud elevation and thickness, Rain/Snow/Temperature... with 2.7's system you either use one of the presets (Broken 1-7, Overcast 1-3 etc.) but you are no longer able to fine-tune the weather patterns you want. I've tried applying a preset and then switching back to the pre-2.7 system (IE: Change preset to 'Nothing' and you'll get the old weather system). The old weather system only partially exists because the cloud-settings you're choosing under 'Nothing' apply t o clouds that aren't there. 'Nothing' = Null, so no matter what I can't put in weather effects that I want. Currently my only option is to choose one of the pre-set cloud or weather conditions, or enter in my own temp/density/precipitation on a map that won't spawn clouds. I see tons of posts about issues with the new cloud system (Rain drops on the canopy seems to be the biggest one which has already been reported) but I haven't found one addressing the Mission Editor's limitation. Any input the community or ED has would be awesome (Maybe I'm just missing something). Cheers.

I'm in mission 2, and they recommend attacking the SAM at high altitude (angles 25 or greater.) However, there is about 75% cloud cover and despite some holes in the clouds, I have trouble getting into a good position to attack it with an LGB or Mavs. Once we hit WP 7 or so, do we have time to loiter until we can find a good place to attack or is there a time limit?

So there's a bunch of presets and for those who don't have the time to go through all of them or don't want to here's a quick low effort guide. I'm personally a fan of Scattered4, Broken2/3/6, Overcast4 ,and Overcast and Rain2. Note: Small gaps = gaps too small even for a very high G BFM fight medium gaps = Just big enough for a high G BFM fight large gaps = Large enough for even a gentle turn very large gaps = Could be double digit NMi in size Light Scattered: High Scattered Scattered Broken Overcast Overcast and Rain
