This is how far I've come over the past 3 weeks or so. The biggest parts of the structure are close to completion. Now I'm trying to find ways to keep it pure. I don't want a keyboard shelf because I'm hoping to have all the essential controls (and eventually all of the accurate panels) on board, so I won't need to break the immersion using one. I'll likely build a seat for it from similar materials, but with decent padding, because of simplicity. So far, quite a challenge. There are very few square angles on this thing. Almost every flat surface has an odd angle, including a downhill slope on the side consoles front to back at (best I could measure) of about 1 1/4" over their length of nearly 30". I've obsessed over drawings and many other diagrams that came from these forums and other sources. It turns out that the diagrams in the back of the NATOPS manual is actually very close when blown up 400%, but not exact. I used the drawings as a template laid out on the sheets of 3/4" MDF that I would cut up to build the structure, measuring angles instead of just trusting the drawings and assuming their scale would be 100% accurate. So far, off to the races! I'll post some pictures of the reference material I used, and then what it's turned into so far.

Does anybody know if there is a setting or LUA entry or ??? that would allow-provide for the carrier to operate under Case III landing protocols even in a brilliant beautiful sunny noon environment? I would imagine IRL this is done with newer pilots and training, and it provides a much better visual perspective to view/experience the ALCS system as well as other aspects of carrier landings.

Hi Fellow Pilots, I have been extensively using the interface for StreamDeck that Charles Tytler wrote, to configure my XL unit for the F/A-18C. Granted it is all been for the way my little brain works and obviously 100% personalised for my use. I apologise for asking these questions, but I have medical memory issues and forget easily Seen as I have put so much effort in to this, I thought I would release to all the fellow pilots out there. Before I do though, I just wanted to ask a couple of questions; 1. Do I need to release the customized F/A-18C lua I am using? 2. Do I need to release the clickable data, or is that standard for everyone? 3. Do I just need to release the profile itself with some support documentation, or is there other StreamDeck stuff I need to add? 4. I will obviously credit those others where I have reused the odd icon here or there from other profiles I have downloaded, and will also make available every icon sheet that I have created in Adobe Illustrator *.ai, *.psd *.png 99% of what is contained below is based upon direct interface, rather than keystrokes or combinations of keys, so there is virtually no keys that need to be mapped in DCS itself Here are the screenshots of the profile screens I have created and using, and what I intend to release; As I stated above, almost all the buttons and gauges etc are utilising the direct interface, and not keyboard strokes, so little to no remapping of keys is required to make it functional If someone who could help me with the answers, then I can get this released tomorrow hopefully Thank you Toni aka Ice Rhino

Hello guys. Something is wrong with Blade in M12 of Raven one campaign. From the very moment he starts taxiing, his plane is release huge amount of black smoke (see cap1 attached). I've made all test: waiting for him until hooked in the catapult and take off, taking off before and after him. What I saw after taking off after him is that he weirdly crash at the end of the catapult (see cap2 attached). I guess this is a bug. right? Any previous report on this? Cheers!!

Hello, I shall preface this with the fact that my tacview is installed incorrectly so unfortunately I don't have a tacview of the current instance of this issue, however I have an old one. I had not made a track file as this was multiplayer and I didn't think to. But I still have recordings of it happening. The Issue: Some harpoons fired will simply climb until they kill themselves at 50,000 or higher. Current record of the two harpoons I've witnessed doing this is 66,000 feet. This all occurred on the Syria at War server on multiplayer, Syria being the map. However I should point out I have experienced this bug once prior on the Persian Gulf map as well on Persian Gulf at War, so map doesn't seem to be relevant to the bug. Process: What I did was I loaded up two harpoons on the 2 and 8 rack pylons and I flew off the carrier. Once airborne I began timing out the Harpoons on the stores page and I activated the SEA radar to find my target, which I did and locked onto successfully. I switched the Harpoons to the R/BOL mode and they successfully displayed the target information I was wanting, I set them both to fly at medium altitude with a skim setting for the terminal. Both missiles read the same information. I then launched from 60nm at a broadside stationary destroyer. Pylon 2's missile proceeded to pull up and climb to about 53,000 feet before its engine cut off, whereas pylon 8's missile flew properly at 15,000 feet for the journey and struck the target dead on. The video is unlisted on my account for you to see. I do not have any better way of providing evidence of it happening and unfortunately I had pressed the record button too late to demonstrate my own cockpit footage. However I hope that my description of what I had done should assist in figuring out the issue. DCS Harpoon Bug Video.zip.acmi

Something that would be cool is normal helmets without the HMD as an option in the Ground Crew menu, since they fly without HMCS sometimes.

Hi friends, For those of you who fly older missions/campaigns created before DCS 2.7, where there is the need of the US Navy Equipment mod installed.Just wanted to let you all know that after running several tests, this is the mod causing DCS 2.7 to crash and missions/campaigns to fail. It is not compatable with the SuperCarrier either, since SC uses it's own deck crew. One can fly the older campaigns by adding the US Navy Equipment mod in your saved games/tech folder, and then remove all the deck crew and vehicles ,with the mission editor, and save. After that remove the US Navy Equipment mod from its location again. Kind regards, RWC11

So I am trying to program the actuation of the Emergency brake on my F/A-18C through my Streamdeck XL. I have done many buttons but this one has me stumped. I want to use a single “switch” to simulate engaged (pulled out) and disengaged (pushed in). I can engage it, but disengage it. Has anyone tried this and were you successful? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello all, I'm inviting anyone who would like to participate to an AIN ship operations multi-player mission. We are going to run it on Caucasus map with no mods. There will be 4 big ships, super carrier, non super carrier, Tarawa, and Kutz for the flanker pilots. The mission will have active csar/ctld so the helo pilots can do plane guard duty while the jets do flight operations. AIN will have tutors for all the fixed wing, and at least a few of the helicopter models. There will be a few low threat level ground targets so people can practice that as well. We haven't yet set an exact time and date for this training, as we're going to run it several times, and we'll likely leave the server open and without a password while this mission runs. So come out and hop in your favorite aircraft and do some carrier practice. The tacans will work, as will the ICLS so you can even do automatic carrier landings in your tomcat. There will be tankers up with active TACANs and easy comms will be enabled. The mission will be "AIN Ship operations" in multi-player. Here is the link to our discord.https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn More information will be forthcoming, and I'll will add to this post. We hope you'll show up regardless of your flight experince level. We'll see you in the skies!

so I've been looking at videos of the f/a-18 hornet when I came across a video of the super hornet model aerial refueling another hornet. hornet equipped with air to air refueling pod. can we get support for this to be implemented ingame? :) feels like since its a pod it would be possible to implement and mount on a regular f/a-18c hornet. anyone else feels like me? let me know, and let eagle dynamics know. thank you p.s. I know about the user name and no, I am not THE Matt Wagner :( just had that user name for ever and way before I ever knew about Matt and dcs.

DCS has a big community and choosing a place to settle down can be hard. There are a lot of groups out there and all of them have a different culture and fly differently. As you are reading this ask yourself what you want out of a DCS group. CVW-1 is a DCS carrier air wing is dedicated to getting as close as possible to real world Naval aviation operations. CVW-1 is dedicated to training its members to be the best of the best. We pride ourselves on flying like real Naval Aviators. We also love Naval Aviation and Naval operations. CVW-1 offers a unique experience in that we capture the culture around Naval Squadrons. We are small right now but we have the potential of growing into something big. We need people devoted to building CVW-1 up into a group of like minded people that act like a family building each other up. Our leadership loves Naval Aviation and loves Sharing that love of Naval Aviation with its members. We are devoted to making an authentic and realistic experience. We are often classified as a military simulation (mil sim), but what does that exactly mean? Well our definition of it is that we strive to get as close as we can to real-world operations within the limits of DCS. Our training and operational programs closely resemble that of a real CVW. training phases Fleet replacement squadron (FRS), Strike Fighter Advanced Readiness Program (SFARP) and Tailored Ship’s Training Availability (TSTA) form the core of our Fleet Readiness Training Program or FRTP. Lot’s of hours are spent by wing members time making detailed briefs and training materials. CVW-1’s members have a lot of experience in a wide range of tactics and procedures. Our members are devoted to helping one another to accomplish the goal of creating a realistic experience within DCS. Mil sim does not mean you have to greet people and say sir. But we do have a chain of command and we have ranks to identify people that have given their time to alleviate the administrative burden of maintaining a group like this and members that help in strengthening our culture. CVW-1’s brand is “Work hard play hard” we feel that if you put in the work here that’s what you’re gonna get out of it. Our motto just like the real CVW-1 is “Primus et principes” it means primus and principles in English, meaning if you stick to it and our principles you will love it. Our goal is to have you look back and see how much you have evolved as a virtual aviator. So is CVW-1 a good fit for you, think back to the question I asked you at the very beginning “what you want out of a DCS group” does this fit with what you want in a DCS Group? Here are more questions that you can ask yourself. Do I have a passion for flying and a passion for naval aviation? Do I enjoy Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and reading and biting by them? At CVW-1 Flight Training Instructional (FTI) and SOPs are the core of our flight operations. Do I enjoy flying the F/A-18C start up to shut down? Do I enjoy working as a team and learning in a professional and realistic manner? Can I receive criticism in debriefs whether I fail or succeed in a given mission? Can I become part of a group that flies in the Central standard time zone typically starting at 1900? If you said yes to all of them, CVW-1 may be a good option for you. We currently need about 40 - 60 Active pilots. We currently only operate the F/A-18C and plan to stay that way since we are trying to have a circa 2019 Air wing. Our training consists of 5 missions in FRS which consist of Air to Air Refueling (AAR), Air to surface (AS), Air to Air (AA) and Night Systems (NS) in VFA-106 then you will get a choice to choose from VFA-11, VFA-211, VFA-136 and VFA-81. You will then get put through SFARP which teaches you Close Air Support (CAS), Armed Reconnaissance (AR) and much more. If you have made it to the end of this, congratulations! If you are interested in the Carrier air wing and want to learn more about it join our discord at https://discord.gg/yT9RTndGe6. If you would like to ask a member of our staff don’t hesitate to ask us in the recruiting section of our discord. We look forward to having you on our team. FLY NAVY!!

Can you start a mission with YOURSELF (Player-Client) in an F/A-18 cold on the deck of a SuperCarrier while multiple AI aircraft (2) are in approach/landing. Then, after the AI are recovered/parked, you startup, taxi & launch from either waist or bow cats? I can set up the AIs and they do their thing, but as soon as I add a Client (myself) the deck is set to Launch exclusively (deck crew manning all cats), and the AIs just keep circling at 3,000ft. This all seems to occur automatically WITHOUT me initiating startup. Would it not be logical to have Recovery and Bow Cat(s) Launching at the same time? Is this a trigger thing possible in ME?

Does anyone know where the files are for radar performance? I have the CJS Super Hornet Mod, and in the .lua file for it, there is a line that reads: ' RADAR = "AN/APG-73" ' I believe this means the .lua finds this radar file to use in the super hornet. Where is the AN/APG-73 file located?
-
So, I recently downloaded the CJS Superbug Super Hornet Mod. I know this mod runs off the existing F/A-18C files, so it shares the same characteristics. This should mean it shares the same RCS, turn rates, turn radius, acceleration, top speed, and radar strength. How can I change the RCS? Because the Super Hornet has increased radar stealth characteristics. Also, if I can increase radar strength as well that’d be wonderful. I’ve never done modding, and I’ve never messed with the game files before, so any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!

I know there is a thing about nuclear weapons in DCS. I know Ed has stated flat out, no more nucs. I think I have a compromise. What about practice bombs. I was talking in my squadron about this, and honestly having practice B61's for US aircraft would at least slightly solve this issue. Some people really want them, because the jets really can carry them. Pilots need to train with them, (real life) and the aircraft need to be tested to ensure clean separation with the weapon. As a practice B61 could be skinned to look real, and won't crash servers since it doesn't blow up, I think this might be a nice compromise solution. Practice bombs for the B61? anyone?

I can't seem to find the info, do you know by any chance? I want to trigger a mission "well done" message when player shuts down the engines - moves both throttles to OFF position. I am looking at the devices and clickable table data for Hornet but I can't figure it out. Do you know how to achieve this with X COCKPIT... trigger condition?

I have spent a multitude of hours researching how I can try to edit the avionics and flight model of the CJS Super Hornet. Alas, I have had little to no success. I’m at a loss right now, and I would really appreciate some help. I know little to nothing about coding or computers, so this is all very confusing to me. From all my research, I found that the player flight model for the hornet (also used by the CJS Super Hornet) is a professional flight model. This PFM is a .DLL file and is encrypted. I heard the avionics are also encrypted (probably also in a DLL file [i never found it so I wouldn’t know]). Can someone help? I got DCS for my 15th birthday in July, and I found the Super Hornet a while ago. I just really want to make the flight model more like a Super Hornet. If someone knows how to edit these DLL files(idk if that’s legal. Is it?) please teach me. Or maybe if someone knows how, you could edit it for me I suppose? Maybe a developer could help me, someone with knowledge and authorization? Please, I just really want this. I know the Hornet and Super Hornet are really similar, but I love the little details. I love small changes that make each aircraft different, even if it’s two variants of the same aircraft. I love dogfighting, and I’ve heard of the AoA and slow speed performance of the Super Hornet being even better than the Legacy Hornet. I’d love to experience that. I don’t intend to sell or pirate the DLL files or anything. I know they took years of research and development, and I deeply revere that dedication. I would never steal that work. I’m not trying to pay anyone for this, and I don’t expect someone to help. I’m not entitled to help. However, I just wanted to reach out and see if I can find the right person who wants to help me. All I want is to fly the Super Hornet with my little brother and my friend. Please help, I’m out of ideas. Also, if anyone does help, here are the changes I would love to see: Decreased RCS to around 0.1-0.5 m2 (I think it’s in the .lua but I’ll put it in just to be safe) Increased radar detection range. (The AN/APG-73 did 60nm, but the AN/APG-79 does 80nm; I can detect a plane sooner than Legacy Hornet can) More consistent Radar STT lock (DCS Legacy Hornet loses STT lock a lot; appears to almost be intermittent at times) Increased thrust (to emulate increased subsonic acceleration) Better AoA performance (Legacy Hornet flew at max 35o AoA; Super Hornet allegedly has higher max AoA; 20% better seems like a good estimate) Increased lift (Better slow speed characteristics; more control at low speeds; 20% better seems good) Increased pitch rate (Nose pitches up or down quicker and with more control; maybe 7o faster) Increased survivable G load (requires higher G-force to break wings off airframe) (If I over-explained, I’m sorry. I just don’t know if I used the right aviation terms and want to make sure I’m understood properly)

I was making a custom livery for the F/A-18E Super Hornet (CJS Mod), and I finished the first dds file. When I exported it from GIMP and booted up DCS, it is just rendered as black. It was working before. I would periodically check the skin as I worked on it, but now it won't work. Someone, please help. I worked for at least 30 hours on this.

Does anyone know how to increase the amount of G’s pulled before the wings break on the F/A-18C? I would like to mess around with this and see what’s possible

reported earlier F/A-18C Hornet Ground Radar - GMT and SEA
Waxer posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
GMT and SEA modes are showing MAP ground contour returns in addition to moving target bricks. But usually bricks are undistinguishable because of all the ground clutter. Bug limited to multithread as far as Openbeta 2.8.6.41363. On single thread GMT and SEA work as expected with static ground clutter being filtered out from radar returns. (I am sure that I am not using GMT in interleaved mode, so it is a bug not user error.)- 1 reply
