In the Harrier NFM the 'Course Set Switch' for 'Radar and Night Attack aircraft' is described as a switch with holding right as CW and holding left as CCW, similar to the hornets CRS Switch. In addition to this, there are videos showing harriers with a switch here rather than a knob.

However the current DCS Harrier has a knob (that doesn't work all too smoothly dare I say).

If memory serves me correctly (and I haven't been in a radar jet cockpit in almost 3 years now) the course knob was present in Trainer T-Birds, Day Attack, and Night Attack aircraft and it was changed to the course switch in AV-8B II+ radar jets.

Perhaps it was back-fitted to the NA birds as well, which would explain the NATOPS.

I'm not entirely certain which BUNO is modeled here, that would determine which one it had...

Switch, knob, or chicken head. I just wish we could have CW and CCW keyboard mapping.

Is there any particular reason for that or just convenience? I usually just pop Altitude hold on and scroll to the course I need, which can sometimes be a PITA, but having the click and drag function added would be more beneficial IMO. But a keyboard mapping would make sense in case someone wanted to export it as well.

In lue of virtual hands, a hat switch is the best. I play VR and trying to use the knob with the mouse cursor hurts my neck. Hard landing in a 53 at 29 stumps gave me a bit of mobility issues.

Gotcha, I don't use VR myself, but I can see how that would be better for that.

If it were a choice between the two, I would prefer a switch. Thats probably just a preference thing from hornet though. Interesting that RB have used the throttle from a radar bird but the CRS knob from an NA.

I think it's for when they plan on doing the II+ after ED gets their ground radar working in the Hornet. The knob vs. switch is still not confirmed since my contacts aren't working this weekend. Can't remember which jet this is a picture of since I can't see the BUNO however, it was one of my last high powers in the hush house (you can see the massive doors just in front of me). It clearly has a course switch but I'm guessing it was a radar.

Old ones have the rotary. Most current ones had the knob replaced by a rocker switch.

Keyboard commands for radios control, nav course and ins mode have been included.

Just returning to this thread as it has become evident once again that the NA and plus versions should have a Switch. Only the Day attack has a knob.

+1, and shelved in the archives for another 3 years

Only the day attack has a knob. The Night attacks and Radar birds both have switches. The missing feature that the real jet has is when the switch is activated the UFCP is energized and you can just type the course in that you want.

Continuing this thread to prevent cluttering. It is with near certainty that I now say the NA and radar birds should have a switch. There is no proof out there other than 'Zeus said so' that it should have a knob.

Hi all,

The knob was changed for a switch on the last upgrade after 2011.

Only the AV-8B Plus were affected. The NA remained the same

thank you
