Elevation Data Corrupt in SADL

OK, I have been living with this problem since the betas, and I haven't been able to nail it down exactly because it was intermittent. Now I can repeat it every time. What I don't understand is why there isn't half a dozen threads in here about it, so perhaps its something I am doing wrong. I doubt this however, as the everyone I have tested it with has had the same results. Broadcasting SPI in the same situation works fine.

Elevation data if sent as a tasking via SADL seems to be corrupt in many cases. The Lat and Long will be exactly correct, however the elevation will be wrong. In most of my testing the elevation has come through as 380 or 400 feet.

In the pic below I have received tasking however you will notice in my TAD and TGP the elevation is 400'. To the user the target looks like it is "moving" because it is underground.

If I then ground stabilise the TGP it will swap to the actual altitude which is 1298'.

Different altitudes of targets do not seems to affect the difference.

Do others out there have this problem? It seems to be most noticeable at higher alts.

LOL yeah I meant to say, I have a track but it's about an hour long. I will try and get a more concise one up and hopefully post the track from the wingman also if that would help.

Cheers

Kai, by this do you mean the TGP doesn't seem to stabilize at the SPI location? it drifts off lazily?

If so i have had the same experience with SADL sent info/taskings. i'm more than happy to help get a track, just let me know.

Yep that's it. But as far I can see the TGP is stabilized, it just appears to be moving because it is stabilized underground.

Cool, I tried to get a track of this the other night but there were a lot of people online and my wingman got involved in an a-10 pileup. Would be good to get a track with someone who is familiar with this.

OK here is a track.

I receive data at ~08:21:50 which is 400' when the local elevation is around 1200'.

Unfortunately metalnwoods track (my wingman) is corrupt. It shows him taxiing off the taxiway and then max powering it into some hangars. Not out of the question for him, but not what happened in this case.

Of note- the elevation the EGI is aligned at is roughly 400 above the targets we are sending. Not sure if that has any effect, but worth noting.

Sorry for necro, but any news on when this might get fixed?

Had the exact same type of problem with 2 squad mates today in Nevada. When sending a SPI to a wingman via SADL (TAD OSB 7 IIRC (*)), the transmitted elevation (or the one that was received) was somewhere around 1700 feet MSL, while the actual target elevation was 3830 feet. Once elevation was adjusted via CDU, the point was actually spot-on.

(*) TLA FTW :D

Can confirm this is bug is back and happening in Nevada yet doesn't seem to be so much in 1.5.8 (so 2.2 only from what i've noticed), SADL is not sending Elevation data with the mark point burst but SPI broadcast is, this results in the camera locking below the ground.

You can reproduce rather simple send a SPI to your wingman and then just lock the TGP to it.. it'll do the terrain can't lock job.. or just follow the actual point and you'll find it's trying to take you into the ground several thousand feet below most of the targets.
