dcs.log-20231019-172633.zip Attached my logs. I get a crash right when I start up MT via Steam using "play MT preview". Please help. I normally play in VR with my Varjo but I do a lot of ME so I need to be able to run 2D also. Thanks. I should mention that running MT with my Varjo (VR) works fine with no problems.

Hello Friends, i just wanted to share with you my thoughts about the main topic about VR and Head Tracking and wanted to see, what do you think about this topic too. I brought the fastest PC you can get, like RTX 4090, i9-13900K, DDR5-6000 MHz, M.2 7000 GB/S etc... But still VR seems not satisfied with it. I use the Quest 2 with LINK and just the optimization stuff took me more than 3–4 months and that was painful enough. Anyway, still after i got the best settings to run DCS very good, i noticed that the game looks very poor, the whole immersion was destroyed. My brother don't have VR, so i was looking for him for some tutorials how he could use Head Tracking in DCS. I found Opentrack and i just started my 30 FPS cheap webcam and tried it. I started DCS and i was like "whaaaat" "serious"... Then i turned all Settings in DCS to max/ultra and started the game again. Then i saw how incredible DCS graphics is and i felt in love with it. The Head Tracking feels 90% like VR and works perfectly and smooth. I just ordered a wide curved monitor 34" and i said to my Quest 2 "... bye bye, Mark Zucki..." My experience last 10 years: For some years i was using TrackIR, and i hated it and i hate it still today. I just hate the clip you have to wear, and i was not satisfied at all. These constantly interruptions drove me crazy. I just can't recommend TrackIR! Then i switched to Tobii 5 and this was good, you don't have to wear any clip or what ever. But in DCS it was going somehow "heavy" for what reason ever. I also noticed, there was a delay like 1 sec. when looking left/right. I played Star Citizen with it, DCS etc... Then i got my Meta Quest 2 and the first time i was like "i am in, i am sitting in a F-18..." then after 10 minutes i got motion sickness LOL... Then i realized, that even the fastest PC on the Market you can get, is not enough. I spend 3-4 months looking tutorials on YT, trying everything possible, and at least i was able to play but of the cost of the beautiful DCS graphics. This was not a good choice at all. Finally, i installed Opentrack with AITrack and a webcam. DCS Settings are maxed out, and the graphics is simply brilliant. Thank you, ED, for this. With my wide curved 34" screen it's hundred times better than VR. I will come back to VR, when i will be able to play DCS the same way and settings as in 2D. For now, VR seems not being made for "heavy" graphics games. TrackIR/Tobii 5 VS Free Head Tracking Software Because i used both, i am able to compare them. I was very surprised how good the free Head Tracking software works. You have not to believe me, but i can say this: TrackIR is the worst product i ever had, the tracking works not very well, and it was painful to look down or left/right because sometimes the clip was out of range. Tobii 5 was much better than TrackIR, but there was somehow a 1ms delay. The other thing, you have to stick the camera with adhesive strips and when you use the tobii 5 for some hours, it will go hot and the tobii just fall down. In DCS i was not satisfied. Imagine that, 250 bucks for such product. Opentrack + AITrack in comparison with TrackIR and Tobii 5 is way better and its free. You just use your webcam or even your smartphone. That's it! It does not matter how i look left/right and up/down, the software works perfect, no issues at all. And i don't have to fix something on my head, or monitor with tape. Just start the Head Tracking and play... Who ever buy TrackIR or Tobii 5 without trying the free webcam software, he is just fooling himself. If you may ask, how TrackIR and Tobii 5 feels, i can tell you this: The Opentrack + AITrack feels exactly the same like TrackIR and Tobii 5, but the free one works way more stable, and it cost you nothing. If you don't believe me, try it. there is no point to buy those expensive craps. By the way, I don't advertise here for Opentrack, i just want to help you save your money and have a better experience in DCS (Star Citizen, MFS 2020...). Conclusion: For those, who repeat the same phrase again and again "i can't play without VR any more..." i was saying the same phrase everywhere, but i was wrong. If you are mad about VR, just dust off your old webcam, install Opentrack and AITrack, set your DCS graphics to max and just enjoy the Game, you will never regret. DCS World has incredible graphics! And please don't buy those expensive TrackIR or Tobii 5 before you try the free Head Tracking software. I came back to 2D through coincidence, and i am just happy about this step "backward".

Hello, the 'new' adaptive brightness/bloom effect that was introduced in 2.8 is somewhat inconsistent and should have an option in the settings to turn it off. The bloom-ish overlay that is added to the view is depending on the sun position and your viewing direction which can become very unpleasant when you look around (TrackIR/VR) Also the effect is not well implemented (in other words: broken) when using multiple displays: The bloom effect is simply cut off, realized that there is something wrong when exporting individual screens, so I tried to do some tiled tests using only one display On the image with the four views (it's a crop, picked just one corner for example) the bloom stops right at the edge beween front-left and front-top. This is broken, it is supposed to continue in that direction and soften out, but since the camera responsible for the viewport is not facing the sun, there is no effect applied and is only visible in the view that sees the sun (front view in this case) The other image is pretty much the same, top square is the top view, the bottom square is the front view. Same issue. Initially I was hoping the bug shows only when the views are not continuous, but as seen.. even when the views are aligned to be continuous that issue is happening. (continuous means the viewport continues into the other viewport at the same edge) There are also some posts about this: (none of them with any confirmation or official feedback) Issue with mismatching brightness on multiple views: weird behavior of the sun-vs-view 'effect': same weird shading effect, the human-brightness-knob (love the title): Is there a configuration option that can be added to the autoexec file that is not documented to disable this weird bloom/light effect? or is there a way to tweak the shader for it? IC pass is not a requirement here (for me) with this issue it is ..weird to fly when looking in the direction of the sun, impossible to get proper viewports/monitor-exports (it's not just a different brightness which could be compensated for) and almost impossible to do photographic panorama style shots when facing anywhere near the sun. A simple [ ] Bloom toggle would be quiet helpful (this applies to all new features that are added, see the shadow softening issue, also needed separate options since 'something' was changed) how to reproduce: (short version) look into the sun and move the head around. how to reproduce: (long version) same as above, but with multiple viewports. I attached an example monitor setup file for a 2 tiles layout on a single screen. (you need at least 2400 pixels in vertical for that and 1200 in width. (or adjust the numbers to your liking, did not bother to do the variables based on the current screen-resolution to have consistent and reproducible values) bugreport_1200x2400_2_tiles.lua Since the issue applies to several fields: View System Bug, 2D Video Bugs, VR Bugs, Multi-Display Bugs I posted it in generic, maybe I should post it in each section? Since Generic Bugs has only a little chance of being noticed or even bothered. Neither any of the linked posts have received any official feedback. (EDIT: either I did post it now in 2D Video Bugs by accident or the thread got already moved, not sure if I had a mental moment just now..) cheers PS: tried it with the highest and lowest settings I could pick, result is the same. It does not matter if shadows are on, or global illumination is toggled, it was literally setting everything to MAX for one test and set everything to LOW (or off) on the other test) Happens in ST and MT

Multiplayer. Planes going submarine or floating above ground.
-0303- posted a topic in 2D Video Bugs
Bugs been around long before 2.7. Plane float above runway (seen once yesterday). Otherwise varying degrees of underground, just a bit of wheels buried to gears fully buried (saw that too yesterday. Wings buried is rare but happens. I assume it's not just me? Not a huge deal, but not right either. If I'd estimate, I'd see this every second time I fly multiplayer. Old pic. -
Hello forum. Since last updated and moving to OpenXR, game crash after some minutes. No matter if 2D or VR; MT or ST. I have checked logs and I cant find any pattern. I have repaired, cleaned and deleted metashaders. Version: Open Beta 2.8.4.36529.1 Hope someone can bring some light. Thanks. dcs.log-20230501-191728.zip
