First of, the mod, models and original post on ED'S user file is from @denissoliveira The mod can be found here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3332396/ The mod in it's current version is only a graphic mod and is not a functioning AAR probe. denissoliveira was not able to have the F-5 communicate with the tanker. I have manage to make it communicate by adding the following to the F-5E-3.lua file: tanker_type = 2, -- Tanker type if the plane is airrefuel capable is_tanker = false, air_refuel_receptacle_pos = {4.761657, 0.829126, 0.824903}, And this to the comm.lua file included in the F-5E-3 mods folder: utils.verifyChunk(utils.loadfileIn('Scripts/UI/RadioCommandDialogPanel/Config/Common/Tanker.lua', getfenv()))(6) Now the F-5 can communicate with the tanker, have the drogue extend, but the tanker do not recognize the contact and therefor do not start the fuel transfer. null If anyone knows what would be the next step, please let us know so we can finally have a AAR capable F-5E-3 in DCS!!

I have started trying to build my own home cockpit panels for the F-5 as a fun project. I have heard that DCS BIOS is what I should be using but after hours and hours of trying to understand and trying to get DCS-BIOS to work I am stuck. I have no clue what I'm doing. I have a Teensy 3.5 and an Arduino Uno to use. I know there is some way to just use the Teensy as a HID but I don't know how to code at all and the internet was not helpful. Thanks for the help. -Ben (I'm really cheap so it is not a perfect replica.)

Hi, My first contribution on here, I am getting to grips with the F-5e and have been gathering documents to read, one of them is the flight manual (T.O. 1F-5E-1 - Flight Manual - F-5E-F (01-08-1978)). Not sure if someone else has done this but I have bookmarked the sections/chapters in the pdf and also turned the table of contents into direct links to the relevant sections as well as the parts of the flight characteristics. Makes it a lot easier to reference the document, I hope it is of some use. Link to google drive folder below (also has a blank takeoff and landing data card): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1l4hYlNo0A0KVeHEDfvKx5aBcZtqI4cJG?usp=sharing

RAF Sukhumi - Airbase MOD - puts you right in the heart of a modern day RAF fast jet training base right here in Caucasus Map of DCS World. Sitting on the coastline Sukhumi airfield has been extensively upgraded via VPC MOD to host RAF Hawk T1, RAF F-5E, RAF L-39 and RAF F/A-18C squadrons. Use this mission as a base for training or LAUNCH one of two Low Level Training Sorties with a pair of RAF F-5E’s or Hawk T1 via COMMS F10 MENU. Blast off from a foggy, atmospheric sunrise at RAF Sukhumi in this fast and exciting mission - similar to my earlier Low Level Sortie with RAF Tornado - DCS MISSION The F-5E has been used here in DCS as it is similar to the Bae Hawk T2 which is currently used by the RAF to qualify its fast jet pilots before they move onto frontline squadrons and operate aircraft like the EUROFIGHTER TYPHOON or F-35. Take in the amazing lakes, rivers, valleys and mountains of the Caucasus Map in DCS as you maintain formation in this thrilling and exciting low level flying training mission lead by RAF F-5E fast jet trainers. Point to point, tactical, low level aviation and navigation with real comms from your flight lead as he guides you around this awesome route. Visit the local low level flying area AKA The Kutaisi Loop, a series of tight, winding valleys similar to The Mach Loop training area in the UK. This mission gives you a full and enhanced DCS flying experience and includes ON SCREEN MESSAGES, COMMUNICATION MENU ITEMS and CUSTOM PILOT AUDIO WELCOME TO RAF SUKHUMI - Upgrades include... • Upgraded Tower • Squadron apron and hangars • Squadron aircraft and liveries. • Base support vehicles • Fire station • Visiting Aircraft • Cold War Aviation Museum • BUNDLED PDF with links to MODs/skins & install instructions Available Aircraft Slots (Players) • RAF F-5E - 29 Sqn (x4) • RAF L-29C - 208 Sqn (x2) • RAF F/A-18C - XIII Sqn (x3) Support: Single Player and Multiplayer Easy and fun for beginner and pro alike Mission Time: Around 40 mins FEATURES: - HOT START AIRCRAFT - CUSTOM AUDIO FROM LEAD PILOT (229 AM - Pre-tuned in aircraft) WARNING - AUDIO/ON SCREEN MESSAGES!!! Make sure HELMET AUDIO VOLUME is turned up ON-SCREEN MESSAGES and COMMUNICATIONS MENU (F10) USED THROUGHOUT MISSION!!! I will update this mission to iron out any bugs or to add more functionality Cheers and all the best for the holidays Stevie Thanks

Hi everyone, Another bug that's been around for quite some time, that appears similar to this bug, that was reported nearly 4 years ago. When the TACAN is tuned and placed into any T/R mode, the volume knob is completely non-functional, until the HSI displays the bearing and range, whereby it functions as you'd expect. (Fast forward to around 06:32:30 in the track for the TACAN test). F-5E-3_TACAN_Volume_Bug.miz.trk

Hi everyone, Something that I've noticed for a while is that the landing lights logic seems a little broken, in that the navigation lights switch seems to determine whether or not the lights extend and whether or not you can turn them on or not. With the navigation lights set to off, the landing lights switch doesn't do anything, the landing lights stay retracted and off. With the navigation lights set to on, and the landing lights switch off, the landing lights extend. With the navigation lights set to on, and the landing lights switch on, the landing lights come on. If you now switch off the navigation and landing lights, the landing lights switch off, but stay extended. Is this correct behaviour? It seems really strange compared to other aircraft. One thing I tested was whether or not the navigation lights were working as a master lights switch (which still wouldn't explain the extending/retracting behaviour), but the formation and beacon lights behave exactly as you'd expect - they correspond to their respective switches, and function independently of the navigation lights. It's a minor bug sure, but it has been around for some time. F-5E-3_Landing_Light_Bug.miz.trk

Is there a way to extrapolate measurements from an EDM file viewer , been searching all over the net and can't find width and height of the damn F-5 cockpit structure. Where do developers find these datas, or are the models built only on approximations ? I have some actual parts of that cockpit but need more infos before i build my simpit. P5250217.jfif

I am wondering the logic behind different modules exhibiting radically different structural failure characteristics. The most obvious example is the F-5E compared to the Mirage F1CE. The two aircraft have incredibly similar published structural limitations, yet one is very easy to rip both wings off and the other behaves completely differently. I know opinions vary on which is more realistic. I would argue the Mirage is a lot closer to reality. However, my concern is the inconsistency in module development. Life might be a box of chocolates but structural limitations modeling should not be. Structural failure behaviors should be similar for all aircraft absent some very obvious public data demonstrating otherwise.

Hi. I'm trying to get a finer Trim in the F-5. In default LUA there are the following lines: { pressed = iCommandPlaneTrimDown, up = iCommandPlaneTrimStop, name = _('Elevator Trimmer Switch - PUSH(DESCEND)'), category = {_('Stick'), _('Flight Control')}}, { pressed = iCommandPlaneTrimUp, up = iCommandPlaneTrimStop, name = _('Elevator Trimmer Switch - PULL(CLIMB)'), category = {_('Stick'), _('Flight Control')}}, no value are passed. I added them myself but, as I guessed, they are ignored. { down = iCommandPlaneTrimUp, up = iCommandPlaneTrimStop, value_down = 0.1, value_up = 0, name = _('Elevator Trimmer Up Fine J'), category = _('FinerTrim')}, { down = iCommandPlaneTrimDown, up = iCommandPlaneTrimStop, value_down = 0.1, value_up = 0, name = _('Elevator Trimmer Down Fine J'), category = _('FinerTrim')}, Is there a way to get a finer trim (without use of the joystick software)?

As part of the F-5E improvements coming this year, I would humbly like to request the following: Optional Air Refueling Probe, as this was a purchasable option for the F-5E, and would allow for more variety with mission planning Raw scan or measurements of interior cockpit dimensions, for those of us (like me!) who wish to build an F-5E sim pit Thank you for your consideration!
