  1. DCS has a big community and choosing a place to settle down can be hard. There are a lot of groups out there and all of them have a different culture and fly differently. As you are reading this ask yourself what you want out of a DCS group. CVW-1 is a DCS carrier air wing is dedicated to getting as close as possible to real world Naval aviation operations. CVW-1 is dedicated to training its members to be the best of the best. We pride ourselves on flying like real Naval Aviators. We also love Naval Aviation and Naval operations. CVW-1 offers a unique experience in that we capture the culture around Naval Squadrons. We are small right now but we have the potential of growing into something big. We need people devoted to building CVW-1 up into a group of like minded people that act like a family building each other up. Our leadership loves Naval Aviation and loves Sharing that love of Naval Aviation with its members. We are devoted to making an authentic and realistic experience. We are often classified as a military simulation (mil sim), but what does that exactly mean? Well our definition of it is that we strive to get as close as we can to real-world operations within the limits of DCS. Our training and operational programs closely resemble that of a real CVW. training phases Fleet replacement squadron (FRS), Strike Fighter Advanced Readiness Program (SFARP) and Tailored Ship’s Training Availability (TSTA) form the core of our Fleet Readiness Training Program or FRTP. Lot’s of hours are spent by wing members time making detailed briefs and training materials. CVW-1’s members have a lot of experience in a wide range of tactics and procedures. Our members are devoted to helping one another to accomplish the goal of creating a realistic experience within DCS. Mil sim does not mean you have to greet people and say sir. But we do have a chain of command and we have ranks to identify people that have given their time to alleviate the administrative burden of maintaining a group like this and members that help in strengthening our culture. CVW-1’s brand is “Work hard play hard” we feel that if you put in the work here that’s what you’re gonna get out of it. Our motto just like the real CVW-1 is “Primus et principes” it means primus and principles in English, meaning if you stick to it and our principles you will love it. Our goal is to have you look back and see how much you have evolved as a virtual aviator. So is CVW-1 a good fit for you, think back to the question I asked you at the very beginning “what you want out of a DCS group” does this fit with what you want in a DCS Group? Here are more questions that you can ask yourself. Do I have a passion for flying and a passion for naval aviation? Do I enjoy Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and reading and biting by them? At CVW-1 Flight Training Instructional (FTI) and SOPs are the core of our flight operations. Do I enjoy flying the F/A-18C start up to shut down? Do I enjoy working as a team and learning in a professional and realistic manner? Can I receive criticism in debriefs whether I fail or succeed in a given mission? Can I become part of a group that flies in the Central standard time zone typically starting at 1900? If you said yes to all of them, CVW-1 may be a good option for you. We currently need about 40 - 60 Active pilots. We currently only operate the F/A-18C and plan to stay that way since we are trying to have a circa 2019 Air wing. Our training consists of 5 missions in FRS which consist of Air to Air Refueling (AAR), Air to surface (AS), Air to Air (AA) and Night Systems (NS) in VFA-106 then you will get a choice to choose from VFA-11, VFA-211, VFA-136 and VFA-81. You will then get put through SFARP which teaches you Close Air Support (CAS), Armed Reconnaissance (AR) and much more. If you have made it to the end of this, congratulations! If you are interested in the Carrier air wing and want to learn more about it join our discord at https://discord.gg/yT9RTndGe6. If you would like to ask a member of our staff don’t hesitate to ask us in the recruiting section of our discord. We look forward to having you on our team. FLY NAVY!!

  3. JSFG is open for recruitment for the F/A-18C Hornet under VFA-82 Marauders, the A-10C II under the 107th FS “Red Devils”, and the F-16CM under the 480th FS "Warhawks". JSFG is a “Quality Over Quantity” group of highly proficient sim pilots, most of whom are pilots in the real world as well. We focus on realistic procedures, but we do not consider ourselves “milsim” - we have too much of a sense of humor to take ourselves that seriously. VFA-82 "Marauders" operates the DCS F/A-18C module. We are a multirole squadron performing air-to-air, air-to-ground, strike, SEAD, etc., basically everything the Hornet is meant to do. We train for large scale operations with an emphasis on realistic procedures and tactics. 107th FS "Red Devils" operates the DCS A-10C II module. This group is built off the framework of success from VFA-82 in terms of qualification and training. In this squadron, you will learn to utilize this highly effective CAS platform to its fullest extent. 480th FS "Warhawks" operates the DCS F-16CM module. As the latest group to be kickstarted within JSFG, we are opening recruitment to establish a fully operational squadron that utilizes the Viper to its full combat effectiveness. We have a dedicated server with the capability of running multiple scenarios, with new ones each week thanks to in-house mission production. We run SRS on our server for in-flight voice communication. Official flight times are Sundays at 2000 & 2100 EST (alternating), with unofficial flights and training exercises throughout the week. Correspondence and planning are usually conducted via our Discord server. For those who are interested in enrolling with JSFG, there is an expectation that an applicant already has a familiar understanding of basic flight operations such as: Navigation, Systems and Cockpit familiarity, Aircraft handling, Air to Air refueling, etc. The recruitment process consists of a probationary period where applicants are introduced to our Readiness Level program which will allow them to build confidence in their airframe, and attain proficiency in our procedures. The RL program serves to us as a Check Ride, and will give us the ability to evaluate and correct the applicant on any of the procedures we have implemented. Once an applicant has become sufficiently acclimated to the environment and all parties involved have determined the applicant is a good fit, full membership will be granted. A good attitude and a team mindset are required. Age 18+ required. We encourage all who are interested to join us on our Discord server. https://discord.gg/R3UuVPN
  4. Hi Fellow Pilots, I have been extensively using the interface for StreamDeck that Charles Tytler wrote, to configure my XL unit for the F/A-18C. Granted it is all been for the way my little brain works and obviously 100% personalised for my use. I apologise for asking these questions, but I have medical memory issues and forget easily Seen as I have put so much effort in to this, I thought I would release to all the fellow pilots out there. Before I do though, I just wanted to ask a couple of questions; 1. Do I need to release the customized F/A-18C lua I am using? 2. Do I need to release the clickable data, or is that standard for everyone? 3. Do I just need to release the profile itself with some support documentation, or is there other StreamDeck stuff I need to add? 4. I will obviously credit those others where I have reused the odd icon here or there from other profiles I have downloaded, and will also make available every icon sheet that I have created in Adobe Illustrator *.ai, *.psd *.png 99% of what is contained below is based upon direct interface, rather than keystrokes or combinations of keys, so there is virtually no keys that need to be mapped in DCS itself Here are the screenshots of the profile screens I have created and using, and what I intend to release; As I stated above, almost all the buttons and gauges etc are utilising the direct interface, and not keyboard strokes, so little to no remapping of keys is required to make it functional If someone who could help me with the answers, then I can get this released tomorrow hopefully Thank you Toni aka Ice Rhino
  5. Join VFG as a Tomcat Pilot or Hornet pilot part of VF-32 or VFA-105! Who we are: At the beginning of 2021 me and two good friends were frustrated when we couldn't find a squadron that was a healthy breed of milsim and fun. So that is why we founded this group! We have a passion for realism, but also want to provide a welcoming experience for players of any skill level in our custom built campaign with custom made skins! Requirements: Discord SRS F-14 or F/A-18 Syria Map Supercarrier 18+ Communication! We have our campaign nights on Sunday 9:30PM EST Training on Friday night 9:00PM EST Stop by our Discord! https://discord.gg/FEaM72AWKY

  8. Hi guys, i have been flying the Hornets nest campaign where ive come untill mission 8, and the update came out and updated. Then after flying and landing mission 8 succesfully , now flown several times, at the end the ' End mission ' button is not responding and only highlighting. It seems to react to the mouse button , but not ending the mission. All the other buttons, like the save track ect., seem to work fine and respond. So in other words i can only end the mission by cancelling or loosing the succes and score and refly it again. The campaign cant continue. I have tried the repair DCS to see if it would help, but no succes. The button remains unresponsive. Anyone else experiancing this ? Greetings from RWC11.
  9. [Potential] Issue: When flying with AIM-7 sparrow loaded and selected as the current weapon, and HARM on board, the CAGE/UNCAGE button no longer toggles the NORM/LOFT mode of the AIM-7 Sparrow while in A/A mode, unless the HARM is manually set to PB via HARM DISPLAY. Wondering if this may be related to HARM OVERRIDE. Reason being, HARM OVERRIDE is unboxed (allowing HARM take-over) when in A/A mode and it cannot be re-boxed. Returning to the DDI menu and selecting HARM DISPLAY, and then changing the HARM to PB mode (thereby not leaving A/A mode) returns function of the CAGE/UNCAGE button to toggle Sparrow NORM/LOFT. Conditions: Aim-7 Sparrow as current weapon A/A Master Mode HARM loaded on any pylon HARM set either SP or TOO mode via HARM DISPLAY (remain in A/A mode) Supporting Files: Track attached Mission file attached FA18C_Sparrow_LOFT_Toggle_Bug.miz Hornet_Sparrow_LOFT_Toggle_HARM.trk
  10. I've recently received my 3080, so naturally I did some testing on how far I can push VR DCS wrt to settings. The results are very promising but mixed. It seems that another planes (even stationary ones, like on the Caucasus free flight mission, stationed at Senakhi-Kolki) can tank the fps regardless of hardware used. There are other strange drops in really strange places, like for example when flying upside down, or looking to the floor of the jet at the stick's base (inconsistent). What's more interesting it turns out that the thing tanking frames on the supercarrier isn't the supercarrier itself, but the models on it, which you can see later in the video. Here you can find a recording of my flight with fpsVR graph at the bottom. Video contains both the Caucasus and the Persian Gulf maps, on the later I'm launching from Supercarrier. The audio is in Polish - it is a recording of a twitch stream I did for my friends playing DCS. You can ignore it, although a follow would be much appreciated, thanks! The important part is that you can see the fps, the CPU and GPU usage and frametimes. I was using Speed of Heat's conversion of Kegetys shader mod, IC - compatible. No other mods. System specs for this video: i7-9700k @ stock on a z390 Aorus Elite board 32GB G.Skill Trident-Z RGB RAM 3200 MHz @ 3600 GeForce RTX 3080 MSI Gaming X Trio Valve Index VR headset If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
  11. F/A-18C Steam Version. Pre v 2.7 (2.5x Stable) Clickable Cockpit fully functional running non-native monitor resolution, with "Full Screen" button NOT selected. Native resolution 3840 x 2160 (non 4K) Game Resolution 2560 x 1440 System : I7 / 32gb GTX 1080 Windows 10 With 2.7 Beta Mouse function no longer occurs in the cockpit. F10 remains clickable. Cursor remains as yellow + This is happening in the Mission Editor, in SP Mission mode and in self-hosted MP server mode, on both Caucasus and PG maps. My Work-around Changed my monitor resolution to 2560 x 1440 to match the game - problem solved. This is not ideal. Clearly this is a low - priority concern but it would be nice to turn my monitors back up Thanks eTrout

  14. Hey Gents, I was fortunate enough to receive the TM Hornet stick for Christmas from a loved one and so far I love it. The only bugbear is what's in the title. If I command the switch forward, it will click forward but stay there until I command center. If I command aft from the forward position without stopping in the center, there are two clicks, one out of the forward position and the other into the aft position. It's the same if I command Right on the switch as well. There's a single click when I command right, but to return to center I have to move the switch back to the center position myself. This doesn't happen when I command WCS left however. If I command Left and release, there are two clicks, one into the left position, and the other back to the center position. I've tried googling to find an answer but all I found was topics on this forum about control setups, which I'm not concerned about. So, since I came up with diddly on my own and I know there are at least a small handful of IRL Hornet drivers who are involved in the community, my question for them is this, is the switch sticking in the aforementioned directions a feature or a bug? It's not a huge deal for me either way, but if it's a bug and not a feature, I'm going to start looking into how to fix it. Edit: I forgot to add that I know there is no WCS Left in the IRL Hornet so that's what's leading me to believe that the switch staying in every commanded position except Left is a feature and not a bug.
  15. Hey all, I'm experiencing a frustrating and intermittent throttle issue in the F/A-18C with my Hotas X. I've never had this issue in the past, and as I've just returned to DCS after about 6 months, I can't confirm if it was a specific update or not. OpenBeta - Latest version F/A-18C Sim Thrustmaster HOTAS X Windows 10 Oculus Rift CV1 JoyToKey for button box VoiceAttack The issue: When applying any amount of throttle input on my HOTAS, the in game throttle will move to the registered value, then slowly and "jerkingly" reset back to 0% throttle. Reproduction: Only happens on cold starts, which I know isn't game breaking but I wouldn't be flying with DCS if I wasn't looking for immersion. Cold start, regular procedures, throttle doesn't work properly. I've tried to detect a specific procedure (flaps, bit testing, FCS reset etc) that causes it, but it doesn't seem to matter. It's completely random, but if it doesn't occur by the time I'm ready to takeoff, the throttle works properly. Things I've tried: - Unmapped everything (I mean everything) from other planes, F/A-18C Game, and axis assignments from other sources - Reset all controls to default - Uninstalled/Reinstalled HOTAS drivers - Changed axis tuning on the throttle mapping - Tried different missions (I'm currently flying a custom mission, and I have checked and confirmed that Game Controls is unchecked in mission editor) - Checked HOTAS X game input (works proper) - Applied throttle input during startup procedure (this sometimes actually works, if I check the throttle input after each process) Summary: It's a very difficult issue to diagnose, as it seems almost completely random. It seems like there is another source of axis input that is causing it, but there is literally no other axis assigned in any other menu. I do use a button box for some startup controls (battery, set throttle's to idle, trims), which sounds like it could cause an issue; however, I've tried moving the controls off of my button box and using the default keyboard controls and the problem persists. A weird note is that the throttle mapping in the menu at 0% starts on the right, then as I move to 50% throttle it moves to the left to the center then disappears. As I move the throttle to 100%, it then continues to move to the left until it maxes out. It seems "reversed" but no amount of axis tuning or reverse box ticking changes this. In axis tuning, it's getting data for both the X and Y axis for the throttle (I expected to only see one). If I remove one of the axis so it only reads from one or the other, I get no input response at all. TM control panel shows expected input, starting at the bottom with 0%, and a steady increase to 100% as I apply input. I'm in the process of upgrading my rig, but this issue almost defeats the current purpose if I can never reliably conduct a cold start. I'm starting to think it's a HOTAS issue, but I've never had an issue with this joystick in the past, and it works properly in other titles. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 16. Hey there, I'm writing this post, as I thought some newer users may appreciate it, or a sort of PSA if you will. The learning curve involved with DCS, as well as learning your aircraft of choice is a massive task to undertake. As much as it is inspiring to watch a DCS YouTuber effortlessly dogfight your favourite plane or dodging SAMs, it is also quite daunting learning how to get to that same point of skill. Perhaps you've found yourself mixing your training between haphazardly referring to the manuals, scouring forums, and YouTube videos. You're getting to the point in which you've played most of the instant action scenarios and some of the free missions, and feel like you need to take it further; and the option of multiplayer seems more attractive. However, unlike dogfighting against computers, you're operating alongside(or perhaps against) humans, which can feel like a quantum shift. You may be considering online squadrons, but nervous about your skill level in relation to theirs. Believe me when I say this, the vast majority of squadrons love to have more people share in their hobby, and take great pride in training people up. The great advantage of multiplayer, and by extension online squadrons, is the added value of learning, community, and most importantly immersion. When I first considered multiplayer, I was quite apprehensive, but once I joined I never looked back, and my flight simulation hobby is vastly enriched because of it. Learning: This can be a sticking point for newer people, since they feel that they aren't adequately experienced, or not good enough for an online group. This may be counter-intuitive, but in some scenarios, being less knowledgeable and joining a squadron to learn can be better. Ultimately while you're in single player, you don't know what you don't know, whereas when you train with other people, they can immediately identify what you need to learn, or what's not going right. Most DCS modules are extremely complex, and frankly the learning process for all of us never ends; we're all just at different points in that journey. As a newer user, you will massively benefit yourself to join a squadron as they can tailor your training requirements. Additionally, many instructors enjoy teaching, and it further enriches their hobby. The core note here is that you won't be burdening anyone from whatever experience level you're starting from, and most instructors love to teach anyway. Community: This may seem marginally obvious, but actually having people to share in your hobby is great. Flight simulation, let alone the DCS community is quite niche, it's not like you can easily have fellow hobbyists down the road. Instead communities are globalised over the internet as we're all spread few and far in between. Thanks to platforms like Discord, the value of community within a flying group is far greater in which you can jump in and talk to your fellow squadron mates seamlessly. Since I've been part of DCAF, I have made some great friends, and I enjoy being able to share my hobby with likeminded people. Immersion: At the end of the day, the value of flying with other humans rather than AI can't be understated. Whether flying with a human RIO or operating as a flight(or both!), the immersion offered is unparalleled. I'm still always impressed when I'm part of a flight of four in parade formation, as we all collectively work together. Or when you all go into a mission, splash some bandits and return to the carrier, the sense of achievement at the end of it is exceptional, because you all had to work together and thoroughly plan what you were going to do, and reaped the rewards of it. I often find going back to single player scenarios feel rigid and too 'sterile' now, since the only human component is yourself. Like what I was saying over learning and community, flying as part of a group fundamentally enriches the hobby. If you're still unsure, feel free to contact myself either here (or Discord), as well as some newer members who fly with me. This can be a good opportunity to scope out what it's like to join a flying group. We're all part of DCAF(Digital Coalition Air Force): Me: Panny#2973 Vak(halfway through training on the F-14): Aisxos#8894 Deivid(also in training on the F-14): Deivid#3419 Brody(recently finished training and is a line pilot): brodyzach#1944 You can also visit our Discord should you wish: https://discord.gg/RrzuvXXd9M Otherwise, if you're interested in my group, I fly with DCAF(Digital Coalition Air Force) as an F-14 instructor, and would love to help more guys out. We also have F-16 Fighting Falcon, F/A-18C Hornet and AV-8B squadrons, who will be delighted to take on more people. You can read about us here: And here: https://dcafoc.wixsite.com/home Or jump onto our Discord!: https://discord.gg/RrzuvXXd9M I hope for those entering on their journey with DCS, this post can at least alleviate a few concerns about the online paradigm. Cheers, Peter
  17. Hi, When doing the training for bombs I encountered the issue that when I want to set de amount - distance between bombs the UFC doesn't show anything (stays black) am I missing something?
  18. Hi everyone. I've noticed a lack of cooperative content with an emphasis on narrative and authenticity, so I thought it would be interesting to try to create something like that. Introducing Phoenix Rising. A 4 player cooperative campaign for the F/A-Hornet set on the Persian Gulf map. As of now, only the first mission has been published. It features 50+ lines of dialogue from 5 different voice actors, as well as a extensive briefing and kneeboard with lots of info that you should read before even loading the mission. There's even an optional skin pack with lots of new liveries designed exclusively for this campaign. The full campaign will include 5 missions and it's currently in development. Stay tuned for updates on that! This is my first big DCS project and I hope you enjoy it playing it with your friends! All feedback is welcome.
