For a working kneeboard in the F-5E go to : DCS World/Mods/aircraft/F-5E/Liveries/Cockpit_F-5E/default Open the description.lua , and make it look like the one below. livery = { {"F5E-MIRRORS", 0 ,"mirrors", true};--mirrors texture replacement with runtime rendered one {"pilot_F5_kneeboard", 0, "mfd3", true}; } It is very small, so zoom in is needed. Let me know if it also works in multiplayer servers.

Anticipation Builds: The Upcoming DCS F-4 Phantom Hey fellow aviators, I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling the excitement bubbling up as we await the arrival of the DCS F-4 Phantom! With its storied history and iconic design, the Phantom promises to be a game-changer in the world of flight simulation. For those who might not be familiar, the F-4 Phantom II is a legendary aircraft that has seen action in numerous conflicts around the globe. From its service in Vietnam to its role in the Cold War and beyond, the Phantom has cemented its place in aviation history as a versatile and formidable fighter. As we eagerly await its release in the Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) world, there's plenty to look forward to. Just imagining the adrenaline rush of flying this beast, whether it's engaging in dogfights, executing precision strikes, or navigating through challenging missions, gets the heart racing. Moreover, knowing the attention to detail that Heatblur puts into their modules, we can expect nothing short of perfection when it comes to the flight model, cockpit fidelity, and overall immersive experience of the DCS F-4 Phantom. Of course, with every new module comes a learning curve, and I'm sure many of us are gearing up to dive deep into the intricacies of operating this aircraft. From mastering its unique flight characteristics to understanding its array of weapons systems, there will be no shortage of challenges and rewards for pilots of all skill levels. But perhaps most exciting of all is the prospect of joining together as a community to share our experiences, tips, and tricks once the DCS F-4 Phantom is finally in our virtual hangars. Whether it's swapping war stories, coordinating multiplayer missions, or simply geeking out over the finer details of this legendary aircraft, the camaraderie that comes with being part of the DCS community is something truly special. So, as we countdown the days until the release of the DCS F-4 Phantom, let's keep the excitement alive and continue to build anticipation for what promises to be an unforgettable addition to the DCS line-up. Fly safe, everyone, and see you in the virtual skies! [VAF] CO | "AWOL" Recoat 6 Squadron (Spartons), Virtual Air Force https://discord.gg/virtualairforce

Hey Virtual Fighters, I would like to sum up some modification that I did to change the location of several DCS menu. I have a setup with : - triple screen up (5760 * 1080) - 3 touchscreen down. Has you know, all the COM/game/tutorial/kneeboard menu are always on the up right/left corner, and it's not really easy to switch your eyes alway on top right or top left of your 5760 widescreen. Moreover if you have an head tracker. This why I would like to share my update to center everything, or move the location of those menus. Have fun DCS Update locations.docx

KB Quick is an all-in-one app to quickly and easily create and edit kneeboards, organise them, associate them with aircraft, quickly select and publish them for specific training/mission requirements, and easily re-edit and re-publish them with a few clicks. I realise there are other excellent kneeboard utilities, I developed this one for my own training needs and have decided to share it here in the spirit of DCS forums. Please download from here : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3315463/ Features All-in-one kneeboard creator/editor/manager/publisher Rich Text editor (one or two columned) Basic instant conversion to Night Operation versions Kneeboards are managed as .rtf files and can be quickly selected and re-edited Easy association of kneeboards with specific aircraft One-click selection publishes or removes kneeboard image to/from appropriate DCS kneeboard folder Snipping Tool-like, screen area capture directly into kneeboard page Import existing kneeboard images The program is easy to use but I would highly recommend that you give the pdf manual, included in the download, a once-over before you start for detailed usage and configuration information. It does NOT access any DCS World folders other than your saved games Kneeboard folders only when you choose to write kneeboard images. All of its kneeboard data and configuration files are stored in the “KBQuickFiles” folder, which it creates in your “Documents” folder. The software is and will always be free. All feedback is very welcome. Please report any bugs. *** Version 1.1 : Fixed minor bug in which the image of the message box which asks "Save changes before changing kneeboard?" gets captured into the kneeboard image. *** Version 1.2 – Improved app appearance for displays using >175% Windows Text and App scaling (typically 4K monitors and high-resolution laptops). Thanks to Backy 51 for assistance. Added Context menu Functions: Undo : Undo last editing action Colour | Choose Colour : pick any colour for selected text/insertion point Highlight Colour: Pick any colour to highlight selected text Background Colour : Pick any colour as kneeboard background Version 1.3 – Added unlimited undo/redo levels. Improved Snip! window edge visibility. Updated manual. Version 1.4 – Added basic table creation and editing Right-Click and “Insert Table” to create 2,3,4 or 5 column, single row table, sized to pane width. Tab past the last row cell to add a row Rows and columns can be resized by clicking and dragging their edges To delete a row, double click, just to the outside of row’s left or right-most cell to select the row, then cut. Updated user manual. No need to update previous version, simply run the program from the KBQuick 1.4 folder. When you're happy with it you should get rid of the old KBQuick folder if you have one

Is it possible to see the kneeboard on the actual leg of the pilot while showing its body? I am playing VR on the F18, I'm not interested in the 3rd party apps for the kneeboard, I just want to know if it's possible to look at it on the blank kneeboard space on the pilots leg. I have a high resolution headset and could probably see well. For now I'm popping the KB window with "K", it works but could be better for immersion.

Hi, DCS 2.9.0.47168 Open Beta -- mentions only one known issue: Added New pilot model from first person (Work in progress). Known issues: The salute command doesn't work when using option Afterburner detent. However, another one is the kneeboard that seems to skip on displaying pages from the or the information brought by the past update (DCS 2.7.14.23966 Open Beta): Added Additional carrier data to the kneeboard - ATC frequency, TACAN and ILCS channel.

Does someone have a kneeboard image file for DST points, including especially the DST ranges for the different points, what they're used for (which weapons and how many points are supported) and what you enter on the f10 map to have the ground crew enter them into the DTC? Maybe fill the extra space with some instructions on other navigation stuff

Morning all, This is something that I've encountered as an issue differently in different modules, but I fly exclusively in VR and inputting map coordinates from the F-10 map into any of the aircraft is a pain in VR. There is no way, really, for a player to write it down and input it without much faffing around. I was wondering whether it would be possible to create a way to copy and paste coordinates from the F-10 map into the kneeboard so that they could be referred to easily while inputting them? It would be something available for everyone, whether they use VR or not (save the trees!), and it would mean they could be referred back to or read back to others with ease. I'm not a programmer, by any stretch of the imagination, but I wonder whether this would be achievable? Thanks, Tom

Hello, couldn't find something via the search. The frequency channel presets V/UHF radio in kneeboard are shown in Hz instead of MHz. So too many zeros. Version: DCS/2.5.6.59625 See Screenshot below. Regards Jens

What DCS really lacks for VR Pilots is an update to the out-dated knee board. A real make-over! DCS needs a virtual EFB on our virtual lap. Like we do in the real world - we have an iPad on our lap. (EFB=Electronic Flight Bag). On that EFB we can run whatever apps we want. Here are some examples: Be it an aerial maps app (one that lets us slew the map around, zoom in and out, display or remove data layers such as different coordinate systems [MGRS,LAT/LONG], waypoints, terrain, Satellite imagery, terrain data, obstacles data, points of interest, Navids, routes, SAM and threat rings, weather data (dangerous thunderstorms, severe turbulence, winds aloft, etc..), and even mark something on the map freehand with an apple pen our finger, and much more. To that app you can add sensors like GPS, thus turning it into a moving map app, and even ADS-B data that turns it into a portable TCAS and updates the weather in real time. Be it a mission computer app or a portable data link app Be it a documents managing app that let us view PDF’s with our checklists, lists, aircraft manuals, mission data such as intel, objectives, coordinates, frequency lists, airport and approach charts, you name it. Be it Weight and Balance apps that would help us decide how to load the aircraft with payloads. I would suggest it to allow us to run real world apps on the virtual tablet (sort of like a virtual machine), for example ForeFlite, and be open to the public to write apps to this virtual tablet.. this could open up a market of apps for the virtual EFB, and lead to devs from the community write amazing apps for it. This EFB can also be linked to a real world iPad that would run a DCS EFB app on it that will allow us to freehand on the real life iPad with a real apple pen, and see it appear on the virtual tablet on our virtual lap in-game. Although the pilots in the 70’s didn’t have tablets and EFB’s in the cockpits, and it’s not realistic, they did have real hands and real maps and real pens and real knee boards that they could use to get all of this data that VR pilots just cannot access once the VR “helmets” goes on and limits our world to the DCS eco system. A virtual EFB could compensate all that and help us immerse into that virtual world. And of course one could limit the use of some of the EFB’s features through the mission editor, so WWII pilots won’t be able to cheat with a moving map or a portable data link app…. I also see an opportunity for Eagle Dynamics to make more income out of this - selling apps for the virtual EFB (a virtual App Store?), collaboration with real world vendors such as ForeFlite subscriptions, Navigraph subscription, and much more, even selling the real iPad app that would interface our real iPad/Tablet to the virtual EFB.. VR is the future of simming and It’s time for a makeover of that knee board. The sooner ED improves the immersion in VR - the better. The sky is the limit!

Kneeboards on pilot model is important for successful and immersive missions. Stopping you from leaving gameplay looking for radio frequencies or waypoints. I would like to see an improved resolution mostly from a VR standpoint, and maybe more available file types. I would also like to see the kneeboard to include mouse clickable controls and option to include a kneeboard on both pilot legs for those large missions. thanks

Hi there, I've created a list of RWR codes, radar ranges and threat range/altitude for all Jets, Sam, AAA and Ships: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1acBsCd8hJvrrVb2SaIW4CaHbSx1JbvavbeeHVrpNJeg The numbers come from my own testing, like for instance the red numbers for the SAMs: these are the ranges/heights at which you'll be safe (although range is subject to your speed/altitude of course). Maybe someones else can use it too I have it as a 2-page PNG in my Kneeboard app on a 2nd monitor for instance, that's why it's in a "dark" design... hf!

as per title, would be nice to see official required docs for each module. I bought the VAICOM pro plugin, I know they have interactive kneeboard, however its not sufficient, it would be nice if ED provide a solution which we can interact with it with something like Wacom or similar H/W

Hello, I know there is already a wish item for having "permanent" pins on the Kneeboard: My wish is slightly different: I would like the Kneeboard to have by default a pin for every "section" of it, and by section I mean all the different parts that DCS uses to build the kneeboard: - The autogenerated Map. - The aircraft's OEM kneeboard - The User's Custom Kneeboard - The terrain's kneeboard (if it exists) - The Mission's file kneeboard It would look like this, when one showed the KB the first time after siting on the aircraft: This would be really useful as one can quickly go to every KB section and from there advance sequentially. It should be easy to implement, as it makes use of the current "pin" facility. While you are at it, if you could have the Mission's MIZ file KB to be the first section it would be swell, and probably would encourage more mission designers to make use of this feature to place the Mission Briefing there. Thanks for hearing this wish and hope it can be implemented. Cheers, Eduardo.

Apologies if this has been mentioned, I didn’t find it when I looked. I like that we can see message histories now, but having them in the ‘pause’ menu really doesn’t help when a) you need to input coords or b) you’re in a multiplayer mission. In VR especially this is a nightmare. Instead, can you please add them to the kneeboard as a page so we can see the jtac info, and all coalition assets freqs by default e.g. all the boat/awacs/tanker tacans and comms freqs without the mission designer having to explicitly put them in the briefing. We need to be able to access these whilst flying and interacting with the aircraft systems. And this is kind of a relatively simple thing that could be done quite quickly for a massive win. Thanks
-
As in the title. Have a dedicated kneeboard page, which lists the programmed presets for both radios. Useful, when you have not made the mission yourself, and the relevant presets are not listed in the briefings and elsewhere. (Should be mandatory in all modules if you ask me.. Cheers!

Hey guys I was wondering if someone could run me through how to add Kneeboard pages to a map specifically. Everything I’ve seen or read deals with adding only to a specific aircraft but I’m looking to add some pages to the Persian gulf map Kneeboard pack with airport info and other such things. I know the general got to saved games all the way down to the last creation of the new folder with the aircraft name but I’ve tried every variation of the words Persian gulf I could think of and the pages won’t show up, is it even possible. Thanks

DCS used to support transparent custom kneeboards, but it doesn't seem to anymore. Was this an intended change? I personally thought it was a useful feature.
