I'd like to introduce Livery Link, a desktop application for managing custom liveries. I've been working on this for a few months now and although it's still incomplete, there are a few people using it and I think it's in a state where I'm happy to share with the wider community. The primary function is to make it trivial to install liveries (see the video below). In addition to this, it can also automatically share liveries with other people. So far, I loved building this, I really hope you enjoy it! Download Visit https://github.com/Camble/LiveryLink for more information click the download button for the latest version. See it in use: Key Features Paste in a User Files URL to automatically install a livery The Livery Browser displays your installed liveries with nice thumbnails Plenty of options in case you don't like a specific feature Automatically share and download liveries (with other users of Livery Link) Installation No installation required, extract anywhere you like and run. FAQs Q. How does Livery Sharing work? A. In order to share liveries to other players, they must also have Livery Link, and the server you are flying on must be running Livery Link Server. Q. How do I enable livery sharing? A. Simply install liveries with Livery Link, and use those liveries on a Livery Link enabled server. Q. How do I send liveries to people? A. If you're sporting a livery that was installed with Livery Link, it will be shared automatically as soon as you take off. Q. How do I receive other people's liveries? A. If connected to a Livery Link server and a player shares a custom livery, Livery Link will download and install it automatically. Q. What if I don't want to share liveries? A. This feature can be disabled, or tweaked to your liking.

( As a protest against some disrespectful behaviors by some people and ----------------------------------------------, recently. I removed all my skins from "User files". ) Greetings Everyone! This is Improving Iranian fleet skins for DCS ! Months ago, I observed a need to improve the existing DCS Iranian Fleet liveries .I have taken on the project to paint all Iranian inventory, included in DCS, with 100% accuracy to make them appear authentic and more realistic. Special thanks to My dear brother Alpha_Whiskey for this outstanding Movie (OLD FIRE) and my dear friend DCS name: Gizmondo .He supplied AH1-W(J). Some of the previous Iranian skins submitted by other DCS contributors have many mistakes, or are totally inaccurate. I'm going to preface this with a one-stop summary: This is a post arguing for already-made and available liveries for the Fw-190A8 to be added to DCS officially for broader usage to the playerbase in singleplayer and online, allowing other players to use and see them. Download options are available at the bottom of this post. Who: The skins are made by myself. I have been within the DCS community for a good number of years, since the Dogs of War server (when there was only the P51, Fw190D9, and Bf109K), and almost all of it was within the WWII side of DCS. Of mission makers and server runners today, like the 4YA Project Overlord server, one of the most reoccurring complaints from mission designers is that we do not have a historical livery selection for the Fw190. This has been noted by the player base of late. Having been around these complaints and criticisms for some time, within that context and that of the required time period and location, I've created a set of liveries for the Fw190A. What: We do not have a single historical and relevant livery for the Fw190A8 in DCS at this moment. Of all the chosen liveries from the Fw190A8's livery contest, none of them are historical, or relevant to France in 1944. Some of them do not have working bort numbers. A couple are Japanese Zero cosplays. And some are only relevant to earlier versions of the Anton. There is a big deficit in DCS for a historical livery set for the Anton 8. To attempt to remedy this, I have created liveries for JG26 and JG1 in their summer 1944 configuration. I'm proposing that Eagle Dynamics incorporate some of these liveries into DCS officially. This will give the simulator its first historical liveries for the Fw190A8. There are 6 liveries (different Staffeln) of the JG26 to choose from, and 4 from JG1. One may argue that an individual can install any liveries he may choose from the Userfiles and use those. However, this has some severe limitations: 1) Other players online cannot see your livery unless they, by pure coincidence, have that livery also installed. That is very rare. 2) Our most popular servers have the Liveries locked. They cannot be changed by the player, only the mission designer. So it benefits everyone more if these new liveries are added to the official DCS install. Then everyone has them as standard, and it can be used and seen by everyone. Historical Context: The Liveries: Here I have a livery for 2./JG26, 4./JG26 5./JG26, 6./JG26, 7./JG26, and 8./JG26, comprising of half of I./JG26, and all of II./JG26. For JG1, I have 1./JG1, 2./JG1, 3./JG1, and 6./JG1, consisting of most of I./JG1 and a Staffel from II./JG1. I made some special features for these liveries. 1) the camouflage tones, specifically RLM 70, were adjusted to be a more realistic darker color tone 2) each livery has a slightly different camouflage pattern on the fuselage. If you look closely you can see the differences between each livery 3) the bort numbers are custom drawn, and weathered to better suit the weather-worn nature of the aircraft First and second Gruppe, JG1. The JG1 identify themselves by their red tail band and unit emblem on the cowling. 1./JG1, which often included additional ID paint on the underside of the wing tips: 2./JG1: 3./JG1: 6./JG1: First and second Gruppe, JG26. The JG26 identify themselves by their yellow rudder, and the II./JG26 by the inclusion of a horizontal bar. The bar and ID numbers change depending on the Staffel within that Gruppe. 2./JG26: 4./JG26: 5./JG26: 6./JG26: 7./JG26: 8./JG26: Downloads: I have given these liveries a tiered choice to be included into DCS. A first top 5, and a second top 5. There are two options for how to download 1) Standard download. Each livery is individual, and individually includes all the textures it requires. This includes, due to the adjusted camouflage tones, the left and right wings. Disk space consumed for all 10 liveries: 666MB. Standard download HERE. 2) Reliant download. Each new livery is dependent on the 1./JG1 livery to acquire the left and right wing textures, instead of locally. This requires the 1./JG1 livery to be included, in order for other chosen liveries to work. However, this more smartly uses disk storage. Disk space consumed for all 10 liveries: 282MB. Reliant download HERE.

Anticipation Builds: The Upcoming DCS F-4 Phantom Hey fellow aviators, I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling the excitement bubbling up as we await the arrival of the DCS F-4 Phantom! With its storied history and iconic design, the Phantom promises to be a game-changer in the world of flight simulation. For those who might not be familiar, the F-4 Phantom II is a legendary aircraft that has seen action in numerous conflicts around the globe. From its service in Vietnam to its role in the Cold War and beyond, the Phantom has cemented its place in aviation history as a versatile and formidable fighter. As we eagerly await its release in the Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) world, there's plenty to look forward to. Just imagining the adrenaline rush of flying this beast, whether it's engaging in dogfights, executing precision strikes, or navigating through challenging missions, gets the heart racing. Moreover, knowing the attention to detail that Heatblur puts into their modules, we can expect nothing short of perfection when it comes to the flight model, cockpit fidelity, and overall immersive experience of the DCS F-4 Phantom. Of course, with every new module comes a learning curve, and I'm sure many of us are gearing up to dive deep into the intricacies of operating this aircraft. From mastering its unique flight characteristics to understanding its array of weapons systems, there will be no shortage of challenges and rewards for pilots of all skill levels. But perhaps most exciting of all is the prospect of joining together as a community to share our experiences, tips, and tricks once the DCS F-4 Phantom is finally in our virtual hangars. Whether it's swapping war stories, coordinating multiplayer missions, or simply geeking out over the finer details of this legendary aircraft, the camaraderie that comes with being part of the DCS community is something truly special. So, as we countdown the days until the release of the DCS F-4 Phantom, let's keep the excitement alive and continue to build anticipation for what promises to be an unforgettable addition to the DCS line-up. Hi everyone, As of DCS 2.9.1.48111 the S-3B (and S-3B tanker) feature improved liveries: S-3B: BD Navy Bloodhounds 703 BD Navy Bloodhounds 704 S-3B Tanker: BD Navy Bloodhounds 700 BD Navy Bloodhounds 702 While the side numbers for the S-3B Tanker reflect the side number given in the name of the livery, the S-3B unit does not and both liveries feature 700 as a side number, despite their name: As stated above, the S-3B tanker is unaffected. In addition to this, the liveries themselves have quite a few inaccuracies, namely: CVW-4 markings VS-36 markings USS Valley Forge Markings AH tailcode (appropriate for CVW-16). CVW-4 was actually a readiness CVW (designated RCVW-4) and both it and CVW-16 were disestablished before even the prototype YS-3A took its first flight. Similarly, the USS Valley Forge was scrapped before the S-3A took its first flight. I can barely find anything about VS-36, the only thing I've found is that it at least equipped S2F-1 Tracker aircraft, but nothing about any version of the S-3. Presumably it is also an inaccuracy. What's even more odd is that the previous VS-32 livery was actually more accurate to a real S-3B livery than what we're now seeing. Sources: https://www.seaforces.org/usnair/CVW/Readiness-Carrier-Air-Wing-4.htm https://www.seaforces.org/usnships/cv/CV-45-USS-Valley-Forge.htm https://www.airhistory.net/text/2019-07/s-3-viking-last-cruise.php EDIT: Disregard these liveries are actually part of the Raven One campaign, without the campaign installed, only the same livery as before is present (i.e 0 liveries, just a default VS-32 livery).

Since 2.9 the custom liveries in the saved game folder seems not to work anymore. In my Saved Game folder I have multiple liveries that were visible from the loadout menu before 2.9. Now these liveries are still there but not available from the loadout menu. Did something changed in 2.9 ? I checked the folder names and folder structure and I everything looks fine. Anyone else has the same problem ? ...any solution ?

Sorry, could someone explain to me how and where the liveries of planes and other units should be inserted, I'm having difficulty doing this because there are various paths in the game, in coremods in bazar in the game save folder and in the unit folders, I'm in confusion, how do I understand the right path? Thank you.

Hi, everytime that I save my file from photoshop (DDS, and standard settings) one side renders but the side I edited appears black for some reason. Am I saving it wrong or not compressing it? First Side The other side (same session too, just change the sun angle and the background) I should be able to see F14_EXT_01 but it's not there. description.lua 2nd Edit: Right, I figured out why this happens but how do I solve it? I open the file in Photoshop only for photoshop to open it as a 8191 by 4096 pixels wide canvas that looks like this: Any Idea of how to fix it? Thanks

Hi there ! I have DCS 2.7 installed on my Windows 10 E: drive. So its not on C. My question is where to put the downloaded Su-25A skins or liveries ? I tried to load them from DemoMods, but the liveries wont appear in DCS. Thanks.

I'm using Gimp 2.0 and have viewed a lot of tutorials but can't seem to figure out how to remove the default lettering on the roughmets, specifically the F-16 and F-14. When I try to decompose them to their respective base layers, I can see red, green and blue but not the layer for the logos etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all, I just posted a 7-pack of SPANG Warhawk vipers! In this pack you will find 2 jets with dynamic bort numbers (HaveGlass and normal) and 5 highly detailed unique borts based on their real world counterparts. They have some unique details such as killmarks and even custom painted bombs, as they were painted in the war against ISIS. These skins are the first to feature my all new landing gear rework! Hope you will enjoy these. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3318186/

Certain liveries in the CoreMods folder are compressed .zip archives to reduce the installation footprint of DCS. To my knowledge, those same archives do not work when placed under the Saved Games/DCS(.openbeta)/Liveries directory. Nor those of other liveries, repacked as .zip archive using the same structure. I'd like to propose to make this available to the aforementioned directory. Doing so would significantly reduce the footprint of certain liveries (one example being a 1.00 GiB livery becoming 198.72 MiB when compressed) and significantly ease the installation of liveries since most issues still come from users messing up the directory tree.

Unveiled only three days ago and now in DCS for your pleasure: this amazing scheme by the Belgian Air Force celebrating the 75th anniversary of the BAF. This is a very accurate recreation of the colorful paintjob, with highly detailed weathering. I hope you will enjoy this beauty, looking forward to your feedback. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3315637/

Hi to all, I'm Jack from Verona, Italy. This is my first post on this forum. These are the links to my fictional liveries for F-16C Viper. The liveries are adapted to F-16C in the best way that I can. They're the replicas to the original RF/F-104G based in Verona-Villafranca LIPX during the cold war. Hope that you enjoy! I am creating a skin for the hornet and have limited knowledge of creating a LUA so I have extracted one using ModelViewer and have placed all the relevant DDS files into the folder correctly. My issue currently is that I do not know how to edit what bort numbers are displayed on the final model, I have tried various changes to the code such as changing the corresponding lines to false or true but every time I go to view the livery in ModelViewer, all of the numbers are viewable. there are various tutorials which I have watched and I am still sifting through although i have so far found none that explain the process with how the current code I have set up is to be worked with. Below is an attachment of the unedited base code and a screenshot where I have circled in red the bort numbers I wish to keep on both sides. livery = { {"f18c_glass", DIFFUSE , "f18c_glass", false}; {"f18c_glass", SPECULAR , "f18c_glass_roughmet", false}; Hello! I am working on a fictional Egyptian Air force livery for the Jf-17 using the template I developed with Cookiemonster. it's partially inspired by the F-16s currently in service with the EAF, here's to hoping that we'll see this in real life soon™. I plan to follow this up with several more Egyptian schemes for most of the aircraft we have in dcs, if you have any recommendations please report in the comment below with a picture! here are some teaser screenshots: Best of luck! --Kerbo Edit: it has been approved for the user files link below: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3314085/

Hello, I run into this problem almost every time I add custom skins to a new a/c - what is the proper name for the a/c folder to place in ~Saved Gamed\DCS World\Liveries ? I've tried using the same names found in my program folder - ~DCS World\Mods\aircraft\ but this is not a surefire method to get the correct name that DCS recognizes. The latest names that are perplexing me - the Mi-8MTV2 and the SA-342 - folders with these names placed in my ~Saved Games\DCS World\Liveries\ folder are not working. How do I find a consistent way to figure out the proper names for the a/c Liveries folders?

reported GDR Livery Available for Germany but not the GDR
Northstar98 posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi Everyone, Minor issue, but the GDR (East German) livery for the MiG-15bis is only available for Germany (i.e West/Unified Germany), and not the GDR. It's a very easy fix, simply navigate to the main DCS World installation -> CoreMods -> aircraft -> MiG-15bis -> Liveries -> MiG-15bis -> GDR_Air_Force and edit the description.lua file inside with Notepad++ You want to edit the last line: countries = {"GER",} and replace the 'E' with a 'D' so it reads countries = {"GDR",} I've attached a modified description.lua file, altering the countries line, all you need to do is replace the current description.lua file with this one, placing it in the folder described above. description.lua -
