All the tutorials I've seen teach you that you should designate one target with both TGP and MAV and hit BSGT to boresight it. I learned today that you can boresight MAV without touching TGP at all. Lock a target only with MAV using VIS or BORE mode, press BSGT and now it will be perfectly aligned with TGP. Is it a bug or works as intended? I've attached a track file and a YT video. Around 1m55s you can see TGP and MAV pointing to a different location. After performing a boresighting 2m50s Maverick is now pointing to the same spot (tank) as TGP 4m30s. It seems like the "official" method is overcomplicated and time consuming. f16bor.trk

Hi. I've been encountering an issue with the display screens in the Harrier for a few days now. The problem seems to have come out of nowhere and I've not been able to sort it out on my own. I haven't downloaded any mods nor have I updated anything recently. I spend most of my time flying the Harrier and don't believe I've changed any of my procedures. The problem has to do with the display of the TGP being taken over by the Maverick seeker display once the missile is uncaged. This has been happening regardless of what screen I set the TGP or weapon stores page to. I cannot have an uncaged Maverick and a TGP display at the same time on separate screens any more. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the module without luck. It happens with both the IR Mavericks as well as the laser Mavericks. I'm no expert and the TGP/Maverick Workflow isn't the most intuitive so I've gone back and reviewed several tutorial videos just to make sure my brain isn't what's really broken here. After watching a few I've confirmed it is just my jet that's doing this. Any help with the problem will be appreciated. With the IR Mavs it's livable using just the missile seeker, but with the laser Mavs I can't self-lase anything. Thank you for your help!

Hi everyone, Now that the new S-3B model has been released (albeit in a potentially bugged state), would it be possible for the S-3B's weapons to be corrected, as well as to add some others that are accurate for it (ignoring ASW specific stores such as torpedoes, sonobuoys and mines, as those require additional core functionality in order to work). The model we currently have depicts the S-3B as it was pre-1998 (i.e with AN/ASQ-81 MAD boom and all sonobuoy ports still present, from 1998 onwards the boom was deleted and at least most of the sonobuoy ports were blanked over as its role switched away from ASW). Currently the S-3B has the following stores available: 300 USG drop tank Mk 82 500-lb LDGP Mk 84 2000-lb LDGP Mk 20 Rockeye II AGM-65D AGM-65K AGM-84A Harpoon IP AGM-84E SLAM If the S-3B is to receive Maverick (which was post 2002 according to this, the same goes for SLAM), it should have the AGM-65F, not AGM-65D or K, neither of which is used by the USN. The SLAM should also use the AN/AWW-13 data link pod. It should also have ADM-141A TALD available, which was utilised in the 1991 Gulf War. These are mounted on TERs on the wing stations, but I'm not sure if it can equip a total of 2, 4 or the full 6. The Harpoon variant it should have is AGM-84D Harpoon Block 1C (as with the Hornet), it's probably still compatible with the AGM-84A, but the D is more appropriate (and has a far higher-quality model).

A few updates ago(after some version in 2.8.x) , AGM-65 lost its ability of tracking fast-moving targets such as helicopters, while functioning as intended when tracking the slow ones. The Mavs can definately see the target, completely able to track it(target is within the seeker FoV and G limit) , having enough energy to hit, but it just 'refuses' to track it. That disabled the ability of fixed-wing aircraft to attack helicopters using any Mavericks. I have tested out all variant, including TV, IR, and laser guided. It seemed that the problem is at the weapon scheme: I've checked "DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\AircraftWeaponPack\agm65_family.lua", found that max G of the missile is 16, the seeker Fi shows he can track targets 180° in the front hemisphere, and the 'Omviz' value is 99.9, which indicates a very big LOS velocity, in conclusion, it seemed that Mav's lua file won't stop it to track a fast-moving target. So I doubt it's the scheme, all Mavs share 2 schemes, agm65 or agm65e, now both of them are 'brocken' in some ways. If anyone wants to test it out, try shooting at a heli moving at ~100knots. It would be more obvious if you can ask a friend flying a heli and start accelerating from hover as you fired a maverick at him. At first I thought only the IR and TV seekers are broken. Recently I checked the Laser seeker, it turns out to be no joy either. The Maverick is flying like it lost any purpose, when the heli increase it's speed above threshold, the Mav won't control its rudders and allowing itself to fall.

reported earlier Maverick targeting changes waypoints
[31st] Spider posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
Whenever I designate a target for the Maverick (D in my case), the current waypoint is moved to the target's position. All other waypoints are also shifted in the same direction and with the same distance as the current waypoint has been moved. It also happens when I use the HMCS and set a target after pressing TMS up long. Trackfile was added, but this can simply be reproduced with any F-16 mission with Maverick. maverick.trk -
Hello guys Thank you for the great patch however I noticed something I'm not sure if its a bug or its me doing something wrong but when locking a SAM on HAD page while having MAV in PRE mode the WPN page delivery mode will switch to HTS mode however it does not slave to the target location and no TMS functions as WPN page being SOI are functional Viper HTS test.trk

I created a mission to practice bore-sighting and firing Mavericks. I have 4 -65Ds and 4 -97s loaded. I am able to get the Mavericks bore-sighted and successfully kill the AD at the target area, but I am not able to get one successful release from the CBUs afterwards. They all fall short when designating by CCIP with the delay cue visible. They seem to immediately release during post designate without the release cue no where close to the FPM. Here's the mission I created. I've flown this three times and still can't figure out why they are doing this. I have no wind set, and it's the default weather and day. At steerpoint 3 is the trusty abandoned field with a truck to bore-sight the Mavericks. Steerpoint 4 is the live targets, all armor with both AAA and SAM cover. F16 Maverick practice2.miz

A1-AV8BB-TAC-000 Page 1-367 NOTE: Because TPOD video is provided as maverick emulation, maverick video is not available when TPOD video is selected. Based to that, we shouldn't be able have a TPOD video and Maverick video (laser or FLIR) simultaneously open on both MFCD's. Pilot would be required to choose which one to be shown at the time. If Harrier is like the F-16 etc, avionics would only be able handle one Maverick video at the time. If someone can provide information that Harrier can handle a two Maverick video feed simultaneously, or that TPOD is not anymore emulating Maverick video, then it could be different. Based to the manual AFAIK, with even the older Litening AT is not mentioned to be used simultaneously but you need to switch the TPOD video off when Maverick video is shown (and it will automatically appear when uncaging the Maverick to left MFCD). So process to launch Maverick slaved to TPOD target would be: 1) Find target with TPOD / Create Target Designation with TPOD. 2) Select Maverick weapon 3) Uncage Maverick --- TPOD Turns Off --- --- LMAV/IRMAV video appears on Left MFCD --- (appears automatically to Left MFCD from any page, or to right MFCD if STORES page is open in it) 4) Push Sensor Select Switch Up --- INS -> IRMV --- (Maverick seeker slaved to TD direction) 5) TDC Action initiate Maverick Track 6) Master Arm On 7) Release to launch Maverick. There is as well interesting part in 2.15.1.11 Sensor Integration: "On Day and Night Attack aircraft the ARBS/LST sensor mode can be integrated with the AGM-65E Laser Maverick to acquire a target at increased range and azimuth..... ...When MAV/IRMV is selected, LST correlated and Laser Maverick video displayed, pressing the target designate button replaces the Laser Maverick video with the DMT display. When MAV/IRMV is selected, LST correlated and DMT video displayed, pressing the target designate button replaces the DMT video with Laser Maverick video" So the Maverick video can as well replace the DMT video. Edit: And if someone wonders that how to then use a Laser Maverick with the TPOD for designation if the TPOD video can not be open same time as Laser Maverick video is, answer is on the Page 1-413 as a NOTE (it is for Litening AT, but safe to assume that Litening v4 is with same limits, safety features etc). "If a laser is armed or firing (or the training laser dry firing), the TPOD page may be exited for up to 15 seconds before the laser is automatically safed. This is a programmed grace period to provide uninterrupted laser firing when the TPOD page is exited during weapon selection for weapon release or due to inadvertent sensor selection, and thereby allows the pilot time to reselect the TPOD page for continued laser firing" So pilot would be required to be able acquire a lock, launch Maverick and return to TPOD in 15 seconds after Uncagin the Maverick and receive its laser feed. Meanwhile the TPOD would continue tracking the target and firing the laser on it while pilot utilize maverick.

Hi all, I think I have the mavs figured out when it comes to static targets but seem to struggle with the moving ones. What is correct procedure? Auto handoff or manual? When I go tms up for ptrk mav LOS does not follow TGP LOS anymore. thanks for your suggestions in advance!

I have somehow successfully launched Mavs before, but I cannot repeat it consistently. When I gave up the other night I'd discovered that no matter where I mapped the SSS depress down, it did not work. Even though that button would work for anything else. I just want play with the module and have never ran into such a convoluted process for weapons release on prior modules. Yes I'm aware that nozzles must be a 0 degrees to fire. Video should be at the part where I have an issue. Any help or even a good Hotas mapping of the T16000?

boresight maverick TGP handoff to AGM-65G is off in T phase
Angelo posted a topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
After cold startup, INS aligned correctly with initial position set and alignment down to 6 for enhanced precision, when I handoff my target, the point where the MAV is aiming is off by a lot. Why is this happening? You can see it's at T phase in the handoff. -
How to reproduce: F-18 with Maverick F (IR), activate it (A/G, select weapon twice for Mav sensor, seat as SOI, uncage) and use manual targeting: depress TDC to move seeker and put it over a target for a moment (one or two seconds) without releasing TDC. The Maverick seeker is moved away from the target as if it was repelled. It is important not no release the TDC for this problem to appear. Track attached. bug-mav-hover-over-tgt.trk
