Hi I’d like to get into DCS world but I’m still quite young and don’t know much about pc hardware. I’m aware that most dcs setups work best above €1700 but unfortunately I don’t have that kind of money. I don’t have a flight stick or any ir headtracking and I have about an additional €300 for that stuff apart from the pc something I think I should buy are the Logitech x52 pro (€160) and some sort of IR head tracking (€60) im going to have to buy a new monitor but I can account for that myself If anyone has any recommendations please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Guys, Being a bear of little brain, I need the advice of veterans before spending lolly. I am a macOS based, non-techi, medically retired pilot who's unable to speak (MND). An ideal machine would not be working it's socks off, or butting against the limits of it's capacity. My target is 'buttery smooth' VR, but I get the sense 2021 may bring further innovations to the tech. With that in mind I'll use Trackir for the 'apprenticeship' and transition later. DCS/Eagle Dynamics Recommended VR systems requirements (VR graphics settings): [My preference] OS 64-bit Windows 8/10; [Windows 10] DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+ at 3+ GHz or AMD FX / Ryzen; RAM: 16 GB (32 GB for heavy missions); [option price for 64] Free hard disk space: 120 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD); [500 GB] Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 / AMD Radeon RX VEGA 64 or better; Q. Do you reckon the spec' below from http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ fulfils the brief? Q. Any recommendations to improve? Thanks in advance guys. Driver dell'Hotas WH conviene istallarli? Grazie a tutti per gli eventuali consigli.

I’m looking to get into DCS with a new pc build. Here’s the part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bJ7YbK I'm probably going to be using an oculus quest 2 and x56 HOTAS Any potential issues with this build (apart from the fact that I’m using an AMD cpu)? Edited to actually include the part list

Reluctantly I am selling my complete cockpit which I would prefer to sell as a complete kit maybe to someone who is just starting out in DCS. Due to the amount of stuff you are going to need to be UK based and able to come and pick it all up. I have kept most of the original boxes for the controls so they can be easily transported safely. I have been using everything up to just before Christmas, everything works and there are controls for both rotary and fixed wing if you like flying both. This has given me a number of years of great fun but I just don't use it as much as I did and it deserves to go to a new home. Like everyone else I have spent thousands over the years but I am asking just £2,200 for everything listed (Please note: - the monitor and stand are not included in the sale) Components are as follows: Dispay: Oculus Rift S Gaming PC: Ryzen 5, MSI 350 Motherboard, 1080ti graphics card, 32GB Corsair 3200 RAM, 750 GB Solid State drives Controls: Virpil Controls VPC Rotor TCS Base Virpil Controls Mongoose T-50M2 Virpil VPC Flightstick extension Virpil VPC BRD Warbird Rudder Pedals Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle (Pinky Switch needs replacing) Thrustmaster Warthog A10 Grip Thrustmaster Warthog FA18 Grip Logitech G13 Keyboard Razer Tartarus V2 Keyboard Thrustmaster MFD Cougar Pack x 2 JetSeat from Andres shop Leap Motion hand tracking Controller Logitech rollerball mouse Keyboard I am also including the wooden Cockpit which was downloaded as plans but I can't remember where from. It can be easily dismantled and put back together. Although it breaks down pretty well, you are probably still going to need a van for the seat and all the other stuff. Any questions please ask. null

Hey, Im having a little trouble with the Sinai map, mostly around cities. With my usual settings (Image 1), I get 22fps in the middle of Cairo, with the Ka-50 III "Takeoff from helipad" mission. Turning down the settings significantly (Image 2), and loading the mission back up yields no change in performance. Nothing running except for DCS and OpenTrack, plus task manager CPU load wasnt super high, but GPU was. DCS was using a little under 10Gb of RAM, out of 32. Specs are: Ryzen 5 2600, Radeon RX 570 8Gb, 32Gb DDR4 3600Mhz RAM. Deleted FXO and Metashaders2 and renamed export.lua to export.lua.old, as there was some wierd socket stuff happening there from the DCS UFC app. Only saw a 2-3Fps improvement, but may have been a coincidence. Any ideas why Im not seeing any performance change, and what I could do to improve things?

This is my first inquiry. Meaning I recognize I must, and will, do a shitload of googling. But first I'd like an inkling if the idea is completely dumb. Here's a general 6 min video for doing this. It seems very simple and going from an 5400 rpm harddrive to SSD should make a difference. Concerns I have. -Is the interface SATA? I count on the interface being a SATA interface (one of the myriad I will google). If it is SATA I count on getting the same performance increase as if I had replaced the 5400 rpm drive. -Would placing DCS on SSD but keeping the operating system on 5400 rpm hard drive still give a considerable performance increase? I hate to throw away a perfectly good 700GB drive. And this way I would avoid the hassles of a complete operating system reinstall to the SSD. I get screen freezes occasionally when approaching a densely populated airfield. I figure the this is due the hard drive. The main draw of this is the simplicity and cheapness. When I upgrade to a gamer desktop computer this will not be a loss. The CD optical drive breaks easily, it's broken now and I didn't use even before it was broken.
