What we need are a few good women AI air crew, ground crew and soldiers. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting tired of looking at Joker's ugly mug. Not to mention Silent Bob, my Huey copilot. All kidding aside, females make up a fair portion of the combat and support arms positions now and endure the same mission grind as males. Genuine heroes like Col. Kim Campbell, Major General Jeannie Marie Leavitt and more are out there and I would be honored to fly virtually with any of them. With the reworking of the AI models for Vulkan, maybe this would be a good time to include female characters.

12/16/22 Preface: In this Friday's OpenBeta update, the easy coding fixes have been added for the P-51, 190s, Spitfire, 109, and 47. However, the Mosquito has been missed. Additionally, the armor plates that are missing from DCS entirely haven't yet been included. Items that were fixed in the 12/16 OpenBeta update will be highlighted in green, and marked with the update date. TL;DR: Many warbirds have incorrect armor values, or are missing armor. If you open the x-ray.edm in the Modelviewer, and the individual aircraft's Lua, you can see the IDs from the Modelviewer and see what those objects' properties are. Please click on the photos here, as while I've minimized them in this post so it doesn't get cluttered, but if you click on them you will see them in better resolution. The P-51D (INCORRECT): [FIXED: DEC 16, 2022]The headrest and seat back armor (aka XArmor01 and XArmor00) - If we open Aircorps Library and look at the drawings for the late P-51D, like ours, we will see that these are two pieces of armor welded together. The headrest being 7/16", or 11mm...and the seat back being 5/16", or 8mm thick. Meanwhile in DCS, it is given a thickness of 22mm! For both plates! Almost three times the value of most of the area of the armor. I have an idea on how this value came to be, but I'll drop it into the spoiler below: [FIXED: DEC 16, 2022]The armored glass (aka XArmor02) - In DCS, it is given a thickness of 75mm. Using the schematics from Aircorps Library, we can again see that it is 1.5" thick, or 38mm. [FIXED: DEC 16, 2022]The instrument panel (aka XCockpitElement02) - In DCS, this is given a thickness of just 1mm! In truth, the instrument panel is a part that's for once, thicker in truth, coming out to 0.128", or 3.25mm. [FIXED: DEC 16, 2022]The firewall (aka XArmor03) - This is given a value of 12mm in DCS, or just a scratch under 1/2". For our 51D, it appears that a more possible value would've been 1/4", or 6.35mm. The P-51D (MISSING): The coolant header tank armor - This is a piece of armor that has been missing from the Mustang's damage model. It is 1/4" thick, or 6.35mm, and lies just forward of the coolant header tank within the engine nacelle, between the coolant header tank and the spinner. In summary for the P-51: -[FIXED: DEC 16, 2022]Change XArmor00 from 0.022 to 0.008 -[FIXED: DEC 16, 2022]Change XArmor01 from 0.022 to 0.011 -[FIXED: DEC 16, 2022]Change XArmor02 from 0.075 to 0.038 -[FIXED: DEC 16, 2022]Change XArmor03 from 0.012 to 0.00635 -[FIXED: DEC 16, 2022]Change XCockpitElement02 from 0.001 to 0.00325 -Add coolant header tank armor. Whaaaats up everyone I’m writing this post mostly because my dcs squadron of 250 member are looking really bad for this rare thing called viggen pilots :). We are mostly a US based squadron but have members all over the world. You must be able to speak English, be 18+ and just a nice individual. We organized events multiple times each week on our own servers that are open 24/7 and with prebuilt huge dynamic scenarios. On top of that do we also have campaigns wher we can have up to 40 people flying at ones. If you are experienced in the viggen that’s great but I’m willing to teach you the viggen inside and out if you so want to. So are you the one that likes to fly low and stupidly fast above the tree tops, strike targets that are deep in to enemy territory or just do send RB-15s at a poor carrier group. What are you waiting for just click on the link down below because I would love to have you as my wing man and teach you everything I know about the viggen! Does anyone feel that the pilot damage model is a bit off? I have on numerous occasions pumped .303 and 20mm into the side of and into the cockpit of an aircraft to no effect. Even I myself have found a 109 on my six and have watched it's rounds go straight into my face through the cockpit and have it only 'wound' my pilot. Since flying in DCS, I have only once bled out at the controls of my craft. I have seen mentions of this on other posts talking about the DM of 109's and 190's but only in passing, saying that an aircraft had hits all over the cockpit but that they were still flying straight as an arrow. If anyone has tracks to attach to this thread please do. To give you an idea, GS posted a video showing him in an A-10 hit the sidepanelling of a P-47 that should have and would have killed the pilot.

Kneeboards on pilot model is important for successful and immersive missions. Stopping you from leaving gameplay looking for radio frequencies or waypoints. I would like to see an improved resolution mostly from a VR standpoint, and maybe more available file types. I would also like to see the kneeboard to include mouse clickable controls and option to include a kneeboard on both pilot legs for those large missions. thanks

Hi As per the manual: All created pilots must be assigned a country. When creating a player mission, the country of the player flight must match the country of the pilot you wish to use! Otherwise, mission statistics will not be recorded in the logbook. However, I often fly different aircraft, like Hornet, Viper, Ka-50, MiG-29, Su-33 I may forget to switch the virtual pilot in Logbook and then fly Black Shark with my US pilot, and it will violate the aforementioned rule, not recording the statistics. I know that the logbook is less interesting to many, especially with its shortcomings, but I actually care about my virtual pilot stats, therefore I think, it would help likeminded people if the ME pilot name could be a dropdown taken from logbook:

Hi Hornet pilots, I would like to ask about your oppinion about the Hornet Flight model in the actual version ? I have heard from lemonine that the DCS Hornet is dragy or an another pilot said the DCS Hornet is too unstable and the IRL Hornet would be much more stable, did ED patch it with the time since the release and with the last FCS Update in february last year ? Best reguards

In the dev screenshots, there are some pictures where the apache pilots are wearing uniforms with MultiCam camouflage, and there are some pictures where the pilots are wearing uniforms with UCP (Universal Camouflage Pattern) camo. Will we be able to select which camo we want to pilots have? If so, will we be able to do this on release? If not, which camo will the pilots have on release?

Hi all, Just to see if i have understood it correct, all weapons can be fired from the pilotseat..? But you can't lase your targets, you need your CPG or someone else to do that..? More considering how much i will need George on missions, because i am planning to be the pilot all of the time, for me piloting this beauty is so much more than looking in the TADS Thanks a have a great day

I am creating a skin for the hornet and have limited knowledge of creating a LUA so I have extracted one using ModelViewer and have placed all the relevant DDS files into the folder correctly. My issue currently is that I do not know how to edit what bort numbers are displayed on the final model, I have tried various changes to the code such as changing the corresponding lines to false or true but every time I go to view the livery in ModelViewer, all of the numbers are viewable. there are various tutorials which I have watched and I am still sifting through although i have so far found none that explain the process with how the current code I have set up is to be worked with. 21NSQD | Recruitment Letter | 10/03/2022 Our squadron is operating with member countries of the NATO and therefor allows a wide range of available airframes for all types of operations. Our goal with the 21NSQD is to provide a high standard of training, exercises, and operations to complete combined with fun and lots of events. Note: The 21NSQD is currently a German based squadron (all leaders are from a German-speaking country) but we also want to have members from all over the world. In order to apply for our squadron, you have to meet certain requirements which are listed below: Minimum age of 16 years Minimum 150 hours of flight hours in your main airframe (Goal: You need to be experienced with your airframe) Keyboard or HOTAS (HOTAS is preferred) Good English knowledge We also provide training for specific airframes for new pilots without any flight experience in DCS. If you choose to join our squadron as a new aviator, the minimum flight hours do not apply to the minimum requirements. For already experienced pilots, you have to complete a basic course, which is the “V1 Checkride Course”. In this course, we will provide basic information about our workflow in our squadron for you to study. All the contents in the checkride course will be checked in a theoretical and practical assessment. This allows us to get a better view on a possible new pilot for our squadron. With this checkride we want to check the following things: Airframe fundamentals General workflow Teamwork Current knowledge If we think you're a match for our squadron, we'll let you know and talk about goals we want to achieve with you in our squadron. We plan to improve your hard & soft skills, procedures and working in a team to get good effects in our operations. Bonjour à tous Le 17th Cavalry regiment d’apache de la Liaison 16 qui recherche des pilotes et CPG Nos missions : - Support aérien rapproché ( CAS ), de frappe au sol de courte portée via le canon, les roquettes ou encore les hellfires, de la désignation laser ou de l’éclairage de cible, et enfin de la recherche et surveillance. Le Régiment opère depuis FARP, FOB, base et porte aéronefs. - Des missions sont organisées tous les samedis et des pilotes sont présents sur nos différents serveurs en semaine. Qui sommes nous : - Nous sommes un régiment rattaché au groupe Liaison 16. La L16 est un groupe regroupant plusieurs appareils (M2000C, F/A18C, F14B, Mi24P, Mi8, F16, Jf17, AV8B, Ah64D). Ce qui nous fait en moyenne une base de joueur par mission de 30 personnes. Simple Mission TAW CJTF-13 Channel The 4th AVIATION REGIMENT, part of the CJTF-13 battalion, aims to be the most realistic and immersive virtual experience while still having a good time making friends. We strive to follow real-life procedures as closely as possible in DCS World. We use realistic procedures around the airfields, FOBs, transit, and combat operations. We continually develop extensive documentation and training materials for our pilots supported by SME's and publicly available real-world documentation. The 76th DSOW is a special operations wing that utilizes all airframes in DCS. We hold weekly mission and training events and run two 24/7 servers.
