BOLD CHEETAH (current version 2.9.A001a) VERSION 2.9.A001a - Updated Oct. 26, 2023 - Mission 04 - Fixed Briefing - Mission 12 - Fixed trigger so certain aircraft are not invulnerable. VERSION 2.9.A001 - UPDATED OCTOBER 19, 2023 - Unlimited Fuel for AI Wingmen, Scritps/Triggers updated, Silenced Wingman in Mission 3 (eliminate spam) Welcome to Bold Cheetah, a realistic and challenging 13 mission campaign for the DCS F/A-18 Hornet that will test both your and your aircraft to the limits. DOWNLOAD LINK: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3326679/ Before we get into the details, there are some requirements that you need to be aware of before downloading and flying this campaign. • You MUST own the DCS F/A-18C Hornet Module • You MUST own the DCS Persian Gulf Map • You MUST own the DCS Supercarrier module. NO LONGER REQUIRED • OPTIONAL: For realistic Iranian F-14 markings, download this amazing skin (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3304485/) by sadjad_vosoul on the DCS User Files section. Mission documents are included in the zip file. Please read the Bold Cheetah Campaign overview for more details on installation. ******************** Bold Cheetah is designed for a player who is proficient in the use of the DCS F/A-18C Hornet module and its weapons systems. You will also require knowledge of US Carrier operations and how to conduct operations off both aircraft carriers and land bases. Examples of challenges you will need to be able to perform include: 1. Case 1 and Case 3 operations, day and night 2. Ability to meet time over target requirements 3. Dynamic re-tasking in a fast-paced combat environment 4. Advanced targeting pod and weapon system employment 5. Formation flying. In addition, familiarity with US military terms and abbreviations is helpful to understand what is happening once in flight. A glossary of useful terms is located at the end of this guide to help you out. ******************** INSTALLATION This campaign is designed and tested for DCS the latest Open Beta version.. I will endeavour to keep it updated as new Open Beta versions are released. I highly recommend players use the Open Beta version of DCS to get the most from this campaign. This means it will not work well on any version of DCS that is not the latest. Unzip the contents of the download to your C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Missions\Campaigns\en folder. Since there is not currently an Iranian F-14 skin in game, I have used the amazing IRIAF Blue-Grey skin by Sadjad_Vosoul, which can be downloaded here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3304485/ Download and extract that file into your C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\F-14B folder. If you do not have a folder named F-14B, then you can create one in that location, then extract the contents. If you do not do this, the Iranian F-14 in-game will visually appear to be an American Tomcat. Once you download and install the campaign and skin, you will find it in the “My Campaigns” section listed as F/A-18C – Bold Cheetah. ******************** SITUATION UPDATE JUNE 1, 2013 The USS Abraham Lincoln and its task group have taken up station in the Gulf of Oman, and will soon commence air operations in support of the invocation of Article 5. The objective of our presence is to deter the Iranians from any military expansion in the region, and to show our allies that we are here for them. Our goal is to provide support to the UAE governments in fighting the growing insurgency on the peninsula. US, British, Canadian and French special forces are now on the ground, helping advise the UAE military in counter insurgency strategy. The air wing will provide assistance to this effort, including Close Air Support over and on UAE territory, and air defense of UAE and Saudi Arabian airspace. At this time, we will not be commencing any military action against any regular Iranian military force, nor will we violate the 12-mile Iranian territorial waters or 12-mile airspace boundary. However, we will be ready to strike, if and when called upon. It is hoped that once the regime in Tehran gets a taste of our presence in the region, cooler heads will prevail and they will de-escalate. ******************** More information is included in the Docs folder inside the .zip file. ******************** Author’s Note As you may know, the release of Bold Cheetah has been delayed for quite some time. In fact, the campaign has been completed for well over a year now, but due to some real-life challenges I had to put off submitting it as an official, 3rd party developer. These challenges are continuing, and I foresee them continuing into the near future. This situation has, unfortunately, caused me to pause my pursuit of releasing Bold Cheetah as a 3rd party, paid DLC. At the same time, I’m aware that I’ve been promising it’s been “coming soon” for far too long. I have decided to release the campaign, for free, into the User Files section of the ED website. I started working on Bold Cheetah back in 2018 and finished it up in 2021. It’s been a lot of hard work, and I’m really excited for you to finally enjoy it and I look forward to your feedback. Hello there fine ladies and gentlemen! My here account is 10 years old, and I never noticed the Tutorial section. Shame on me! Through the last couple of years I put together some studies and tutorial I hope you may find them useful. The ratio was me, knowing nothing, trying to correct the status quo by learning as much as possible about fixed-wing stuff, in primis air-to-air combat. The point of view is mostly from the F-14 RIO. Since there is little documentation about the role, I figured I could adapt the declassified docs focused on other modern aircraft to this 50 years old amazing bird. Nevertheless, the bedrock concepts are the same, no matter the module you are flying. Some studies and tutorials I wrote are unfortunately outdated (for example the study about the AIM-54, where I launched a few thousands Phoenixes and collected data), others cover procedures and techniques, so changes in the module will not affect them. I plan to open two topics. One introductory with the basic concepts, a second with the advanced stuff. This is the former, and here is the latter. Basic Concepts ("Back to Basics" series plus other introductory articles) These short articles cover some basic topics. Latitude and Longitude (DMS, DD, DDM); Brevity Codes; Radar Elevation Bars and Scan Azimuth; Barometric Altimeter (Q Codes, TA/TL); Heading, Bearing, Track and Course; RIO Training in Single Player; Target Aspect and Missile Performance; Rate of Closure (Vc); The “Plus 2 Minus 2” Rule; Back to Basics: Radar Displays: B-Scope vs PPI. AWG-9 WCS Advanced Part I (overview of concepts slightly more advanced such as PRF and Zero Doppler Filter); AWG-9 WCS Advanced Part II (same as above, but covering clutter and notching). Basic Radio Comms Very basic radio comms, aimed for newbie-friendly servers such as Georgia At War (GAW). Part I: Introduction – Frequencies, ATC, ATIS, Runways; Part II: Taxiing and Take off; Part III: Tasking and Landing. Antenna Elevation model One of the first issues I had as noob FW player was understanding the antenna elevation. Here is where Maths came to the rescue! Antenna Elevation Study Part I; Antenna Elevation Study Part II Antenna Elevation Angle Quick Formula. Various Other articles covering various topics. Bullseye in any module - A simple Spider Card Resources The following are lessons held by former or active military personnel (e.g. JTAC, Mi-17 Pilot) about different topics: FLIP and Instrument Approach; - this is useful for new clouds I guess! Introduction to CAS control – Extract from a training session; Close Air Support Theory Lesson by 132nd.AssafB; DCS Syria Map: Historical and Geographical Introduction by 132nd.AssafB. DCS Missiles Visualised - YouTube Modules-specific guides Although more focused on specific modules, the following articles can often be applied to different airframes: DCS: Black Shark This is one of the oldest guides I wrote, it has probably 6-7 years now. It dates back to when the Ka-50 and the A-10 where the only modules in DCS, and I was playing FAC/A with the Shark. Ka-50 / A-10C: Sharing Data. Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV DCS: F-14 Tomcat In the link below you will find most of the articles about the F-14. They are simply too many to be listed here, and they would be better listed in the F-14's dedicated area. F-14 RIO Training / Presentations I do not organize training sessions as often as I used to any more, but when I do, I record them. They can include different topics, so take what interests you and skip the rest, 31/03/2021: NAVGRID, ZDF & Notching, Timeline, Geometry 29/10/2022: 3h livestreaming session split in 6 parts (Part I, the others are on the YT channel) Note that rather than spamming new topics on the forum, I will update this thread.

As title says. I'm still waiting on ED to say what new stuff is coming to the ME as they never address it in their 'beyond' propaganda or their blog posts... but additions like this are critical to being able to achieve much more dynamic missions on the fly and reduce repetitiveness.

I would really like to see DCS's standard setting for the radio similar to what Heatblur did for the Viggen. Short press activates the menu, long press activates the PTT.

Hey guys I recently made a mission that uses radio commands to spawn air units infinitely and it works great. The only thing i want to learn is how to add radio commands using scripts as opposed to triggers in the mission editor. I tried messing around with some of the scripts on the mist website like... local requestM = missionCommands.addSubMenu('Request Asset') local rSead = missionCommands.addCommand('SEAD', requestM, doRequestFunction, {type = 'SEAD"}) local rCAS = missionCommands.addCommand('CAS', requestM, doRequestFunction, {type = 'CAS"}) local rCAP= missionCommands.addCommand('CAP', requestM, doRequestFunction, {type = 'CAP"}) ...but for the life of me i cant figure it out. can someone help this make sense to me? I can add the sub menu however the commands always return an error. I attached my miz file to show you what im working with. Its a great mission i just want to get to that next level and do some more complex scripting. Thank you Syria dynamic AA.miz

Radio KAOS for DCS is a utility which makes it possible to generate and listen to your own audio playlists, in mission, without breaking immersion, by using the aircraft cockpit radios. It’s intended as an occasional “add-on” to any DCS mission. It achieves this by leveraging the DCS feature which allows a mission to contain a radio transmitter which can be triggered to broadcast an audio file on a chosen frequency. Some will recognise this as an old trick, this app just makes it an easy one. Features: Create DCS compatible “Radio Playlist” audio files (.ogg format) from selections of your digital audio tracks. Your tracks can be spliced sequentially or randomly into a single radio playlist audio file. Playlist files can have different types of tuning/static or themed clips inserted between tracks for added immersion (If you’re a Huey driver, try the “Radio Nam” AFVN clips) Create “_KAOS” mission copies of any existing DCS missions which will each contain: Your selected radio playlist A powerful 10 kW Radio Transmitter set to broadcast your radio playlist at a selected frequency Two Comms Menu F10 commands to allow your coalition to start and stop the broadcast in mission Once created, launch the “_KAOS” mission in DCS, tune your cockpit radio, and use the provided comms menu F10 commands to start and stop the broadcast while in mission Quickly update any _KAOS mission with a new playlist with a click so it can be different for each flight Version 1.1 Bug Fix Fix bug preventing generation of radio transmission commands in F10 menu items on some complex missions for Multiplayer. To upgrade from 1.0 version simply replace your "Radio KAOS for DCS" folder with the one in the download NOTE that Radio KAOS will NOT change your original DCS mission file. It will create a copy named <mission name>_KAOS , placed in the same folder as the original. Tracklist & Playlist Generation Tab: - Use to build up track lists from your audio files and generate Radio Playlist audio files from them Manage and Export Radio KAOS Playlists Tab -Use to Generate “_KAOS” versions of your DCS missions with an inserted Radio Transmitter to broadcast your Radio Playlist files. I’ve made a more detailed user guide here : Radio KAOS for DCS User Guide.pdf Please have a read before installing Please download the app from the DCS User files section : Radio KAOS of DCS A few Notes: This app is intended as an occasional “add-on” to any DCS mission. Although I've tested that _KAOS missions can be successfully re-edited in the ME, If you regularly make changes to your mission in the ME, I would recommend that you use the original mission as gold copy, make changes to that, and then use Radio KAOS to regenerate a _KAOS version as required (it will overwrite a _KAOS version of the same name). Be aware that the generated radio playlist audio file is physically inserted into a mission so that mission’s file size is increased by the size of that file. A 60 minute playlist is approximately 60 MB. The 10 kW radio transmitter is inserted in the centre of the mission’s map and should be powerful enough to be available everywhere. Please bear in mind however that like any radio transmitter, it requires line of sight so reception will vary with terrain (as it should do). You may also experience a short delay between tuning your radio and starting to hear the broadcast. Multiplayer: I don’t frequent multiplayer servers but from what I’ve read on forums, a running radio transmission is only available to players who joined the mission BEFORE the transmission was started. Therefore, wait until all players are online and then use the F10 command to start the transmission (You can also always stop and restart the transmission at any time). If you’re a mission builder and prefer to insert your own radio transmission trigger action via the ME, you can still use this app to create and update playlist files in your missions. Please see the user guide for details.

I have been playing around with the R1155 Receiver. I know I can create frequency presets and hot keys for the T1154 Transmitter. However, I am trying to figure out how to make a series of presets and keys for the R1155 Receiver. By doing so I can by-pass the currently non existent navigator and tuning controls. Using 'Active Pause" works for my aircraft, however not for the BF 109 on my tail or from flak. I have been setting up radio broadcasts from community to community using radio towers, TACAN signals, or radio signals from just about any source. Then I use the R1155 Receiver to follow the signals from one location to another. It works great. But, putting the mosquito into "Active Pause" and then climbing into the navigator seat, and manually tuning the R1155 Receiver each time I am seeking a course change doesn't work well at all. If I could set those receiver frequencies to presets and keys it, would work great until we get a navigator. Any suggestions on how to achieve this?

Half the dialogue in Mission 9 cant be heard because overlord base comms isnt muted, so when the scripted dialogue plays you cant hear it, as overlords giving constant updates !!

I noticed how easy it is to interact with Jester you just 1 button and then just move your head. I think it would be nice to be able to to use comms menu in a similar way. Could be a option in special settings.

I found this on the forums to check the value of the VHF radio is set to a specific value, apparently this was for the Mi-8. I'm trying to check the same thing in the F-16 now, but I can't get it to trigger. I've tried entering values an int (127), a float (127.00) or string versions of those ('127.00'), but nothing seems to work. Are the cockpit parameter names different per plane? And if so, how can you check which ones are actually used?

II tried homing again after having last tried it ~6 months ago. Didn't recognize the functionality now. Happened to have a film of how it worked then. Made a new film now. Old: No sound. Vertical needle moves to center. Needle not flipping. Lamp turns on just once. New: Vertical needle flips synchronized with pulsed sound. Steady tone when on course. Lamp blinks twice accompanied with sound, first slowly "outer marker"(?), then faster "inner marker"(?). 3:52 long. First 30 sec notice the flipping needle synchronized with sound. Fast forward to 2:20 " "outer marker"(?) and 2:45 "inner marker"(?). Go full screen to see needle, maybe set 720 "high quality". Track attached in this post (accidental crash bug track, it crashed once at least on replay). https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/270121-afn-2/?do=findComment&comment=4674866 Are ED working on improving homing? I'm more into flying than shooting stuff. Would love if homing would work on American & English planes too (Detrola).

Whenever I fly with my squadron we set Radio 1 to a General Freq where all flights can talk, and Radio 2 to the inter comms of the flight. The problem I have is that I need a 3rd radio for the AWACS. I know that the KY-58 radio works on SRS, so I would like to know how to use it so maybe I can set the inter comms of the flight to that system and leave Radio 2 to the AWACS. So do you know how they work? Do I have so set them in a specific way? Does that radio system have any pros and cons ?

Howdy, I am able to use the ARC-15 in both the front and rear seats in the Hind in Single player for radio direction finding (compass dial moves and audio heard) When I get a friend to fly and I take the front seat in multiplayer I cannot get it to tune to a known beacon, the pilot can however tune to the beacon and hear it Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong ? the helicopter was HOT start on an airfield

Left of line up short beeps. Lined up steady tone. Right of line up longer beeps. For the record, not saying exactly like the Bf 109 (need to check more than just cursory). Also, "sabredancer" on hoggit observed the Spitfire has gotten the "A.1271" homing radio in Mission Editor. No controls in game I can find (or possibly understand). Attached mission (.miz) file works for 109 and P-47. On spawn: -P-47, turn on Detrola -Bf 109, switch "Fug16 Homing Switch" from "FT FT" to "Y ZF". then it will start beeping... Changing Detrola freq it'll go away, so tuning works. I'm told: Bf 109 and P-47 nav to kobuleti 111.5.miz

I'm in my 70's and losing cognitive abilities. So, I am not very good at making Mods or Scripting. I am making a few requests: First: I would like to see a Mod for Airport Beacon Lights. Something built high up and that can be seen for many miles. Having it work like a real airport Beacon? I am requesting more sound Mods for generic use. OGG files for Airfield/Airport intercoms. Just some generic stuff. Also, something that can be used on Aircraft Carriers, other ships, or even enemy bases. More ambient radio transmissions. I have downloaded some from the DCS files and I love them. Please, someone make and provide more. How about some civilian broadcasts that can be picked up on the radios? Create them in OGG files please. If I can think of any others, I'll add to this list. If anyone has any other ideas or comments, Post below.

Hi. the modifier on my throttle keys act as a "switch" in dcs radio (they "stick"). I made sure sure the modifier is added to the "modifiers" list instead of "switches". cockpit & aircraft stuff works as intended with the said modifier keys (they use my modifier like a "shift" button). it's only the radio that has the sticking problem. Here's my case: button MOD as set as a modifier button THUMB is set as cockpit ptt 1 button MOD + THUMB is set as cockpit ptt 2 pressing THUMB will activate ptt 1 pressing MOD alone will do nothing (as expected) pressing THUMB again will activate ptt 2 (should only activate ptt 1 since it's pressed without MOD)

Edit/add: I-16 now have radio! I made this whole post without looking down and noticing. First look, radio is not clickable. Search "Radio" in "CONTROL OPTIONS" yields only OFF and ON, so just a nonfunctional graphical add on so far? At least graphically it looks very nice with worn metallic surfaces. As everybody knows, I-16 used to nose dive and sideslip heavily when hands off stick and rudder. Well, now it flies pretty much level and coordinated. Fine, a lot more comfortable to handle. I'll assume it's a fix closer to reality and not because of complaints. In one of earliest threads someone states I-16 had ground adjustable trim tabs. It does makes sense that the plane, in real life, would be ground adjusted to fly straight and level (at some desirable speed). Assuming it's true, I-16 has ground adjustable trim tabs, it would be great, I think (and I've suggested this before), make it like the Bf 109, add these adjustments to the "SPECIAL" column. ~ Also, as headline states, something has changed with the cooling algorithm. Degraded the engine unexpectedly. Seems more attention is now required to watch temps and adjust both cooling levers. Seems adjusting levers yields a quicker result in changing temps. I used to fly all day at 91 MP 2200 rpm, today it overheated (and undercooled cyl heads), engine damaged, started to stutter. Don't quote this, didn't carefully observe and compare. Time will tell if I imagined it. Did note someone complain recently that the I-16 engine never breaks. I don't get that at all. First I tried it, 2019, learned quickly one cannot keep going 2300 rpm. Now it seems to require even more attention. ~ New tag: "ground adjustable trim tabs", tentative until / unless coming up with something better. In real life someone calls them "Ground adjustable tabs". mod: move to i-16 folder.

Alright so this is what the mission says to tune into Frequencies: AOC: Col. (Overlord): 253.3 UHF Dodge 1 (Your flight, 2 A10s): 35.5 FM Prowler 1 (US convoy): 144.3 AM Guard Channel: 121.5 AM and this is what i did , in the picture does this look correct. I never got the Prowler guy to call me on the radio. This shouldnt be so confusing but it would be nice to hear them to know im doing it correctly. Im new to the A-10 so i dont know or trust what im doing yet so any help would be nice

Interphone-only comms reach ATC, VHF FM cannot reach ATC
Frederf posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
Requesting ATC permission via ___ and their results: UHF, yes VHF AM, yes VHF FM, no Intercom with UHF tuned, yes Intercom with VHF AM tuned, yes Intercom with FM tuned, no The events marked in red aren't correct behavior. Without keying MIC switch down UHF communication with ATC must not happen (similar VHF AM). VHF FM radio with Batumi (40.4 MHz) is impossible even when using the radio. Noticed also keying MIC forward while intercom selector is on FM and HF positions result in the F1-F12 text menu appearing. It would be best if no menu appeared in these cases or possibly Interphone as the device type (not blank). A10C2 ATC Intercom.trk -
Hi, Just found a small issue with the radio (V/UHF). Condition : cold and dark start. From parking. Turn battery on switch V/UHF radio on P (preset) swtich V/UHF radio ON Result : Does not work! No comm at all. I have to set back on M (manual) and again on P to solve the issue. But : Turn battery on swtich V/UHF radio ON switch V/UHF radio on P (preset) Result : Works normally. Seems to be an issue. There is no reason to switch On the radio first before to set it on P. Cheers Dan (Tested on Syria map)

I set the green radio preset to 118.25 in the Editor. However in game using SRS it showed only 118.00. I wonder if this explains the problems we've been having with presets? And when manually set to 118.250 (Kerman), it didn't work and SRS showed 118.205. So it doesn't transmit or receive. In short, both Preset and Manual mode are broken. Manual does work for numbers where the last digits are zero, eg 251.300.
