I just got a VKB Modern Combat Grip (MCG) and I'm trying to figure out the difference between the button on the top left labeled "AP OFF", and the main trigger labeled "AP DISENGAGE" and how it relates in-game to the different autopilot commands in DCS. I've only flown the SU-25T and P-51D so I'm only somewhat familiar with the autopilot system for the Russian plane. 1. Is "AP OFF" intended to turn on and off the entire autopilot system? 2. Is "AP DISENGAGE" on the first stage of the trigger intended to be the temporary override only when held in? And upon release, the autopilot system is turned back on? Any clarification or recommendations on this would be very helpful. Thanks!

Hi Everyone, Having a small issue with my VKB Gunfighter Mk.II (Rev. b), w. MCG Pro that I've had for just under a year and a half (delivered early September 2019). What's happening is that when I put in pitch and roll inputs, the brake axis goes from 0-100% for a split second before returning to 0. This usually isn't an issue, but I've set the axis up to not only act as an axis (for aircraft that use a brake leaver) but also as a button for a small amount of travel (for western aircraft that have a paddle switch), the momentary twitch causes said button to activate, which can be especially annoying in aircraft like the Tomcat, whereby it disables the autopilot as well as the pitch and roll SAS. I otherwise don't have any issues with the stick, it calibrates just fine, never has ghost button presses, all axis and buttons work fine (including the brake), it's only this transient 0-100% that it sometimes does with the brake axis with X and Y inputs that's the issue. I've tried reflashing it, recalibrating it, as well as reseating the grip, I've also tried replugging in the connectors on the gimbal. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, those of you with a VKB joystick, you can create a trimmer with trim set/reset using VKBDevCfg-C (VKB config software) Using one button to 'set' the position (no need to return to center, you can keep hitting 'set' and the other for reset. You can also combine rudder with it if you have the T-Rudders connected to the same blackbox as the joystick. Assign a button to Trimmer-Reset (and select the desired axis) and another button to Fix-Axis, FA-Type: FA0 (also selecting which axis to apply to) On the Profile page, select on the Physical Axis for X,Y, (and Z if you have rudders) , Trimmer: "Trim+" Mode: -1- (X,Y, for Z I had to select mode -2-) On the global tab, set FA0 Mode to "M2" and M2 Time to something other that "none" (if you use none it will lock the controls, haven't figured out why, can't find any documentation about M2 Time) General Tab Profile Tab Trimmer Reset Trimmer "set" --- (alternative) you could also use another axis for each X,Y to trim like a regular plane trim. select on the profile>axes tab "combine1" for X and Y, and point it to another axis on the #Axis field (it seems the other axis must be in absolute mode) --- (alternative) another approach would be to replicate a trimmer hat (like in the Hind) by binding Trimmer: Trim+- on 4 buttons and optionally another button for reset. --- should give you some ideas what else could be done with the VKB software. I did spend quiet some time with that tool since I was desperately seeking a way to trim the Apache. My setup is just 2 buttons mapped as Trim Set (function is called Fix Axis) and Trimmer-Reset (spring joystic, GMC), both acting on X,Y,Z. and it works almost like the trim in the Huey. I have the others as separate config file. I couldn't map a Tempo button to use short/long presses, they all seem to support only logical buttons, not physical but hey.. it's a start. Oh and btw, you don't bind to the force-trim up then, it might work with the Apache trimmer mode for sticks without spring, but I did not try that.

Hi, just wondering if anybody is using the t-rudder pedals in a Simpit/chair (In my case Obutto Rev) setup? Are there any issues using them in a sort of reclined position and the ankle press as opposed to a leg press. It looks like the t-rudders are more suited to a press down from seating position rather than a push forward sort of situation? thanks Scott

So, I've been flying the Viper for a couple months and enjoy it like crazy, but I'm having issues with fine control inputs in situations like strafing runs, AA Refueling and on landings, especially in bad weather, and find myself overcorrecting. Aside from the obvious answer of getting more stick time and stop having gorilla hands, I was hoping to get some insight from other folks who might have the same equipment as me. Currently using the stock 'medium' springs that come installed in the stick, and haven't changed my dead zones or axis at all from default within the DCS controls themselves. Is there anything non-skill based I could manipulate with my equipment and/or settings that might help? Thank you!

Firmware version:VKB Device Firmware (v2.09.0 XT) Example: Because the OEM name of Joystick's is "Blank",so the control files been generated by DCS like this above.First character is "Blank",cause Windows bug,I can't rename the files. In system "Regedit",the VKB joystick's OEM full name is " VKBsim Gunfighter MCG Ultimate ",or this "(blank) VKBsim Gunfighter MCG Ultimate(blank)".This is the reason why DCS will generate the wrong control files. The solution is to manually modify the OEM name, delete the first blank and the last blank in the regedit.I hope VKB can fix this in firmware.I dont know why they add 2 blanks in the name? How dare u?I also posted a topic in VKB forum, but no one reply, hope they can pay attention to this bug.

Hi, This the first serious stick I'm buying (I have a crappy no-name one) and I can't decide between these two. I will be using it with a ~20cm extension in center position I did a little bit of research on the web and from what I understand: Winwing's cons: 1- Winwing (as it's F18 replica) lacks analog ministicks, which I think I would find useful for guiding certain weapons or as MFD cursor etc. and overall it has less switches compared to VKB. 2- Watching Youtube reviews of the Winwing, apparently there were a lot of issues with tolerances and switches' quality etc in early units which were promised to be fixed in production units, and I'm wondering if these issues were actually fixed? VKB's cons: 1- It's more expensive than Winwing, 550$ (ultimate Pro-L) vs 350$ (Winwing joystick base + grip + extension, as I will be getting a third party mount) 2- Even though the grip is made out of metal, the joint between the grip and the base seems to be made out of plastic with troublesome fasteners, and I've read people saying it does flex quite a bit at full deflection especially with heavy springs ... 3- From what I read it seems that the feeling around the center isn't as smooth and as good as Winwing's? I would appreciate your thoughts and personal experiences Thanks

Hi All, Just joined as i am fairly new to DCS (about 3months and only a couple of hundred VR hours of playtime). I am really grateful for all the content (missions, helpful advice) on this forum and thought I would share a controller profile and accompanying kneeboard that has been working well for me in VR. This is specific to the VKB Gladiator flight stick and the Virpal CM3 Throttle. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Many thanks for the content and very helpful instruction and advice!
