@BST: When can we expect the Mi-8 manual to be available?

probably when its out of beta

That would be ... when? In 1/2 ... more likely 1 year from now? That would be a bit disappointing, no? But I doubt that this is the plan - at least for the Huey the manual was available early during the beta.

So, and where is for example the section describing the weapon related stuff, Mr. Troll?

About 8 weeks ago PilotMi8 estimated the manual to be ready "in 2-4 weeks". Is it now really inappropriate to ask for an update on this?

Come on, there's no need to label him a troll. Judging by the A10C and Blackshark manuals, these publications need a huge amount of work. The Mi8 isn't finished yet. Be patient and I'm sure Belsimtek will deliver.

I asked BST when we can expect the EN Mi-8 manual. We were told that it probably be ready 4 weeks ago(!).

So I don't see how that RL manual is relevant here. That was posted already in one of the very first threads when the Mi-8 beta was released.

And about of how much work it is ... yes, sure, I can imagine that. But as it was supposed to be almost ready, I am inpatient if I ask how it's status now?

I can totally understand some people aren't so happy that it was apparently near completion 4 weeks ago. Perhaps the team are just waiting until the sim is complete. No harm to remind them that some of us are looking forward to it, there's probably little more we can do.

They have yet to finish the Huey manual so this should not be unexpected.

Nothing is unexpected here - we all know that DCS means "Delayed Combat Simulator". :o)

But in all seriousness, for me at least, a DCS product consists of the aircraft and the documentation. It goes hand in hand, can not be separated. And after a few initial hours flyi... well, crashing the Mi-8 when it came out, I soon came to a point where I just wanted to get deeper into it all ... but couldn't - due to the lack of the manual. Yes, there are other sources, but I can't help it, I want to learn and get to know the specifics of OUR, DCS Hip. The helo now sits in the hanger, starting to collect dust - which I find sad.

I don't expect a perfect manual, all shiny and stuff. The helo is in beta, started as beta way earlier than BST usually is comfortable with (i.e. compared to the Huey. EvilBivol said something like that, IIRC). So, all well and good that we had no manual from the beginning. And all well and good if it is not perfect as soon as we will get it. But I really want it "Soon ", I don't want to wait until the Mi-8 is "finished" - which really could take some serious time, as it looks (Huey beta was ... almost/about one year? Add 6 months for the prematureness of the Mi-8 beta release ... and then we are facing at least 6 more months of beta today!)

But all that is also just talking out of thin air. My intent with this thread was not to complain the lack of a manual. It was just asking for an update about the ETA for the manual as it already sounded as if it was about to be released.

Yeah..

Progress on released modules are not exactly fast. We do see progress, like the newly added Embark/disembark troops.

I wonder when the gunners on the Mi-8 will be introduced. Now they managed to implement them on the Huey I cannot see why it should be so hard to add them on the mighty 8.

I will probably buy the F-86 Beta, but I still find it bad that serveral modules from the same developer still are in Beta state.

It´s hard to learn a new module when You don´t have any references like a decent (not necessarily finished) manual.

Gagging for the MI-8 manual.

HP G2 Reverb, Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate as standard. OpenXR user, Open XR tool kit disabled. Open XR was a massive upgrade for me.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), 0 X MSAA, 0 X SSAA. My real IPD is 64.5mm. Prescription VROptition lenses installed. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC at the mo. MT user  (2 - 5 fps gain). DCS run at 60Hz.

Vaicom user. Thrustmaster warthog user. MFG pedals with damper upgrade.... and what an upgrade! Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height with brail enhancements to ensure 100% button activation in VR.. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound.... you know when you are dropping into VRS with this bad boy.

My personal apologies for the delays on this key element of the product. The English Mi-8 flight manual was one of my tasks, but as some of you may have noticed, I had been away for a number of weeks. This was due to a family issue. I am back at work now and making up for lost time and development. It's a rather big hole and will take a little time. Even my forum time is still limited as other priorities require more immediate attention for now. I hope we are able to release updates to the documentation and and training in the nearest future and this is certainly on my immediate to-do list.

Ten months after Mi-8 was released to public, and four months after this statement English manual is still not available.

RU - already available

EN - WIP (75..80%). However this task is implementing several translators and will eventually require single specialist all gather and formatting. Maybe 2..4 weeks

I don't want to sound mean, but honestly, this is starting to be ridiculous. Do we get it before BST releases yet another module (Sabre?)?

Totaly agree with you zerver. Although I quite admire the work performed on the Mi8 and the level of detail and realism, I am not spending a penny on BST products until it comes with a decent and official manual. The lack of it for the Mi8 is a massive roadblock for having this aircraft officialy integrated into my squad, and it is used today more as an leasure toy outside the scope of official missions and training rather than a proper DCS module, and it is quite frustrating.

Please don't reply by posting again the link to the Mi17 real manual. I have it and this is not what I expect from a company pretending to do a serious job about simulators.

Agreed! That's why I put Mi8 aside and not touch it till the manual being released.

I'll add my polite "me too" to this, too.

I've tried to be patient on this and I realise that there are extenuating circumstances affecting EvilBivol, but I'm definitely frustrated about the continuing absence of the manual. An official statement from BST would be much appreciated.

Personally as much as i want a manual , i want an english cockpit more , that way i can atleast understand what i'm clicking.. but hey after the sabre i guess , i'f im correct in assuming the sabe will NOT be a beta release but a full release , they wont have much work on it after release (obviously theres gonna be some glitches and bugs here and there)

so i guess this will come after sabre release.. hopefully before cobra release

Yes, an official english cockpit is right next to my wish for the manual.

But until then, you know that Devrim made a great mod already that gives you an english labelled cockpit?

yap, here is his great work.

But we definitely need an english manual.

(and an official update on the current development state of the module)

To tell you the truth, I was kind of upset when they were about to release the mi8, before having the huey finished.

I couldn't resist on the mi8 though and I bought it.

That said, the mi8 is my last beta purchase.
