When XFire worked it worked great, my issue with 14.2 was it was constantly locking up with black screens when changing display profiles or enabling/disabling XFire.

Not to mention they want everyone to wipe AMD Drivers, which is a PITA Cuz it wipes my Mainboard Drivers too, lol.

14.3 also has a bug where Non Primary Graphics Cards in Xfire Array do not back off to Low Power State.

I think I'll pass on these and Prolly go back to 14.1 actually, as everything worked fine on those. (accept the DCS FPS issues)

14.3 doesnt have any GCN1.0 Optimizations.

Anyone getting weird spikes in text on DCS map view? Either my gpu is about to fail or it was the latest beta drivers..

I've had those since 14.1

I run 14.2 for the XFire support for other programs,

But I Use the Catalyst 13.9 DLLs in the DCS /Bin/ Folder to run DCS with Cat 13.9

I ain't stepping out from the 13.9 dll injection method, until there are plenty of field reports that new drivers are equal or better.

14.1, 14.2 and 14.3 offered nothing to make me move from that method.

5 minutes into running DCS, the MAP View and Mission editor are once again, covered with DX9 GFX glitches, close everything, put the 13.9 DLLs back in the bin folder and a boot back to DCS and everything is fine again.

Do you need to remove anything from the bin folder first or is it just a case of dropping the DLL's in?. Do they overwrite anything or are they an addition to whats already there?

I actually thought i was getting slightly better fps using the beta drivers compared to older ones except for the gfx glitches on the map.

I still get big fps hits when lots of people flying around at airports but when just alone or on ramp during startup i get a much smoother, higher fps in-game.

  • 5 weeks later...

I tried the 14.4 RC and have the same performance as the injection of DLLs from 13.9.

I see them very well. The graph is a 290x at 4080 * 2160.

I have just installed 14.4 RC1 with my HD7850 2gb and tested against the 13.9 atiumd64.dll for comparisons, it seems now that the new driver leaves the 13.9 in the dust! (average 7-10 FPS overall) this is pretty big, i wonder if AMD heard our woes after all :)
