Kind like Lock On becomes glued to memory on exit and can?t quit - there is an app called procaff

http://www.stefan-kuhr.de/procaff/main.php3

that I using with this line

"C:\WINDOWS\procaff.exe /run 1 "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\LOCKON.EXE"

and it helps to run the mission, unfortunately it is not effective on exit.

I am preparing an article to post at Lockonfiles - and I would like some input from anyone with this problem and who would use procaff to ease the problem.

It helps - but does not solve the problem.

I am editing new missions this days and it is a hell of CTD, crashes and freezes - any other sim or game and I would give up on it.

This worked great for me. No need to set affinity anymore.

Works on all dual cores(AMD) It is not just for Cool and Quiet.

You also need XP Pro to make use of dual core as Home does not support it.

XP Home supports dualcore cpu. It doesn't support dual sockets on the MB like Pro does. I've done research on this because I'm planning on a X2 upgrade in the future.

So by multi-processor support they mean two physically seperate processors?

Also stuff like this makes it confusing.

I tried and it didn't.

It is really awful - I can't exit a mission.

I get stuck into a limbo where it seems like midnight (kind of a Lock On hell) where I expiate my mission making sins :D

Is there a way where I could see an error log ? Or have a verbose screen showing where I am when I crash while trying to load a mission ?

I am running a 5 day old WinXP Home install with the very latest drivers, and you can trust me when I say that this is a Lock On-only problem.

I really doubdt this. Can you give a link?

From this document:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/1/e/f1ecd771-cf97-4d98-9a1b-b86e3f24e08f/multicore_hyperthread_brief.doc

To support customers’ business needs and use of new technologies, Microsoft generally considers multicore and hyperthreaded processors to be a single processor, regardless of the number of cores and/or threads that they contain

also this

http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/highlights/multicore.mspx

A dual core system is concidered a single processor by MS and is supported in XP Home. I've seen screenshots on forums debating this showing 2 cpu usage graphs on a XP Home system. I believe you need SP2 for the OS to see both cores though.

I installed a program called MEMTURBO 2.1 and it has a SCRUB/RECOVERY memory option, when I QUIT i get stuck in a limbo, ALT TAB, run MEMTURBO RECOVERY option then ALT TAB again go back to that limbo and press QUIT once more, and I am back to Lock On.

I am not happy at all with this.

I am almost giving up.

See here condor11

Q. How does this licensing policy affect products such as Microsoft Windows XP Professional?

A. Microsoft Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Windows XP Home are not affected by this policy as they are licensed per installation and not per processor. Windows XP Professional can support up to two processors regardless of the number of cores on the processor. Microsoft Windows XP Home supports one processor.

XP home does have support for dualcore, but pro is more favourable to use if you have a dualcore cpu....
