aircraftcarrier

Hey everybody

as in the past you guys are always so helpfulll and full off optimisem for us "new" pilots :D

I wanted to ask, can you land the hog on and aircraft carrier ? i see no hook to deploy and that landing plat is mighty small for a normal landing...

i know i know a good landing is one you walk away from but still....i dont like to get wet

It was never designed to land on a carrier. IIRC, there is a video of it being done in the sim, but I think that it was a done with a headwind that you wouldn't normally be flying in.

Years ago, my Son put a C-130 on a Carrier deck. Just missed the island with the right wing by inches... was pretty cool.

(it was a Falcon 4 MOD, to get the Carrier and other AC). :)

I'm sure you could land the Hawg on a Carrier, but I'm sure you'd have to take the whole deck, and not the split side for landing, to have a chance at stopping that bird. Otherwise, you get a nice "bath". ;)

ahh okay cool :) i always thought the hog was able to be deployed from a carrier :) thanks for the replyes :)=

I think the Smallwood 'Warthog' book is one place that I have read about an overseas deployment flight for A-10's. A very long time in the cockpit and lots of AAR practice. :)

Besides, I doubt the Navy wants an Air Force pilot trying to land on one of their carriers. :P

would be a cool mission to build. Where the Hawg's take off from a Carrier, kinda like "30 seconds over Tokyo". Fly their mission, and then land in a friendly region.

Setup with the right loadout, and then make their surgical strike...

Sure, the Navy fly boys wont' like it, but heck, we're all living in a sim world anyways. We can make the call.

That would actully be a danm good mission :O... but im just leaning to fly and all the weapons stystem...i havent even lookt at the editor yet :D

You will find a quick look at the editor to be quite useful. The basic stuff is quite easy so that you can quickly set up little missions for practice purposes. I once set up a whole set of missions with nothing but an A-10 in the air near each airfield, for landing practices. Something like that you can sort out very easily.

Here is a link to the book I mentioned (an outstanding read)

Once you learn how to fly you will find the editor to be a perfect place with almost endless possibilities - even if you know nothing about scripting. I just love it!

We're in "sim" world M8, and mission building concept mode now. ;)

Capt Jimmy Doolittle III is leading a covert Hawg Mission, somewhere in a classified region...

It has been said: The A-10 doesn't operate from aircraft carriers. In the sim however it is possible if you're good. I've seen some videos of People landing the A-10C on a carrier by using the recoil of the gun as additional brake.

Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Ive seen video of people landing their A-10C on the KC-135 while it was flying. Of course you can land the A-10 on the carrier, it just requires a bit of finesse, max forward speed for the carrier, and a strong headwind.
