Off topic regarding sounds but does anyone else think that wags didn't explain how to taxi the 109 very well? I mean it looked like he had the stick back to lock the tail wheel. And no flaps?

He says in the vid that he performs the steps how he feels they work best for him, you can adapt to your own needs of course, the vids give a good overview and are a nice sneak peak that the aircraft.

And flaps for a taxi?

With a unlimited runway, flaps are never required. Since we have limited runways in the real world, flaps are used to help us to get airborne sooner.

The runways we have in the current map, I dont think flaps will be needed, but by all means, if you are in a hurry you can use them ;)

I think flaps may have been recommended for use on a short field, or if to clear an obstacle, or if in a no wind situation with a short field ...may be only 10 degrees or so, someone may have some manufacturers literature on this

Only if 'taking it off' gets you +60dB engine sound increase, inhibits all in-game comms and Teamspeak :)

Does the 109 have a steerable tailwheel via rudder pedals (Like the Mustang)? Or is it like the 190 where it just spins on it's own accord and you have to use the brakes.

The mustang is free castoring. So is the 109.

TAXIING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Check wing flaps UP.
  2. Have wheel chocks pulled.
  3. Steer a zigzag course.
  4. Taxi with stick slightly aft of neutral. This will lock the tail wheel. In the locked position the tail wheel may be turned 6 degrees to the right or left by use of the rudder pedals. For sharp turns, push stick forward of the neutral position to allow the tail wheel full swiveling action. Use brakes as little as possible.
