OT: I need help to identify Instruments on Mig-25 PD

Recommended Posts

Hello

I know maybe is not the place , but what the hell.

In the picture is the cockpit of Mig 25PD, can someone identify the numbered instruments? Is there any good reference picture for Mig 25 cockpit?

The cockpit is needed for SFP1/WOV model.

Thank You

Educated guess by looking at the photo you posted

1. Mach speed! :)

2. Radar altimeter

3. EDIT (It's not a clock then)

4. Airspeed indicator (IAS)

5. Barometric pressure altimeter

6. just a hole (no instrument installed there)

7. don' know

8. HSI

9. some switches, no idea...

10. Warning lights

11. looks like some more warning lights

12. engine fan speed indicator in percents

13.- these are some engine controls or something.. ask someone else, can't see much there

14.- these are some engine controls or something.. ask someone else, can't see much there

15. dunno

16. Attitude indicator

17. gunsight of some sort

6. The AchS-1 clock is missing from there. Usually that's the first

thing that disappaers from the cockpit after an airplane is whitdrawn

from service. It makes a good souvenir (I've got one too, from an An-

2).

7. I don't know either. It would help, if I could read what is written

on it.

9. Looks like warning lights/annunciator panel to me. Just like #10

and 11.

13. Hydraulic pressure indicator.

14. Fuel quantity indicator.

15. No idea.

17. Yep, that's a primitive gunsight. The Mig-21PF, and PFM have the

same gunsight. Since these airplanes have no gun, it was used for the UB rocket pods. However, I don't know if the Mig-25 carried those sort of weapons ( UB-16 and UB-32 ).

What is SFP1/wov, if I may ask?

The gunsight was used to aim the R60 missiles and R-40TD

SFP1 is strike fighter project one ... a light weight sim based on the jet planes of 60's-70's (not much avionics)... and is very modable too .

Maybe this helps , supposelly a Mig-25P. See no Radar screen.

Anyway I need all the good pictures for a cockpit.

Pictures are from aeronautics.ru .

See no Radar screen.

mmmm... an interceptor without a radar screen...

is that a trainer? I heard that PVO regiments were strictly flying under GCI, but WTF, gimme a radar screen at least! It would really be a manned ground-controlled interceptor, the pilot being there just to get the brick in the air and back.

It's the ground attack version of the mig-25, you know, tossing iron bombs from 18km, flying at M=2.

. . . . is the MiG25P the recon version?

Would explain the lack of radarscope :)

hehe, they're likely to "bump" if they're not already exploded @ M1 :D

the ground attack version of the foxbat is said to fly like the A-10 at low altitudes :D :D

At least they could put a screen for the Atarisky 2600 console, just to simulate the modern western equipment of the 70s.

Somehow, I'm not sure about the gunsight. It's a very old, believe it or not, WW2 design.

It is the gunsight foundation. MiG-25PD is the pure intercepror version of MiG-25P and it used a primitive gunsight only to aim thermal missiles. It carries "Sapfir-25" on-board radio location system, based on an improved MiG-23 radar "Sapfir-23". The armament is 4xR-40D or 2xR-40D + 4xR-60M. And it doesn't carry any bombs (it just couldn't becouse the were no spalling-resistant bombs). The radar range is 100 km. The panel which you call "some kind of warning lights" also informs the pilot about the cach/uncache of targets, its number and the quality of signal.

Best wishes.

Take a look, to the sky, just before you die - it's the last time you will!

I also remember the Mig-23P was the dedicated interceptor for PVO.

Unless here "P" is the russian for "R"... that would explain some things... "R" like recon, for example, like brit already said

It is PD, but not RD. "Perehvatchik Dorabotanniy", which means "Interceptor Modificated".
