Sabredog
There should be a little notch against which you set the pressure (highlighted by the red arrow) which is currently missing. EDIT: Also, according to the manual the dashed lines at the bottom should only be visible up to 16,000ft and in sim they don't disappear until 19,000ft Edited July 31, 2014 by Sabredog
derelor
Thank you for your findings. AN5760 altimeter issues reported as ticket #27382. Regarding the dashed lines at the bottom: Source (-1): At altitudes below 16,000 feet, the notched disk moves to expose a set of warning stripes. Thus, the altimeter offers improved readability and visually warns the pilot when altitudes under 16,000 feet are entered. To me, this sounds like a binary (ON/OFF) feature: Warning stripes shown OR warning stripes not shown. Currently in the sim we have a gradual appearance of the warning stripes. Can anyone find more information about this (ideally: a video)? 1338 - beyond leet ED Forum rules EN|DE|RU
IvanK
The stripped diagonal sector is not instant but a mechanical sleeve that rotates to gradually expose or hide the diagonal sector. I have used a number of these altimeters. The altitude chosen varies from operator to operator but the principal is the same, it is not an ON/OFF thing. These diagonal sectors came about because of pilots misinterpreting 3 Pointer altimeters by 10,000ft Here are Two excerpts that describe the progressive uncovering of the diagonal sector: From Mirage IIIO Flight manual. Sectors altitude different to Sabre though the same Altimeter: From the RAAF Sabre Flight Manual: .....And will be fully visible below 10,000ft Edited August 3, 2014 by IvanK
Sabredog
This image posted in another thread shows the direction of movement. The sleeve seems to rotate at the same rate as the longest hand on the altimeter. It looks like one solid moving piece. derelor
Thank you very much guys. I will update my report accordingly. .....And will be fully visible below 10,000ft Do you have a source for this (for the F-86F)? 1338 - beyond leet ED Forum rules EN|DE|RU
effte
Do you have a source for this (for the F-86F)? From the attached picture from the -1 and the above picture, it seems that the circle with a sector cut out is integrated with the 10.000 foot dial. The angles can be seen, and the altitude at which the striped area becomes visible is noted as 16.000 feet. Should go a long way?
